  1. Sadly you're right, the conversation among the hardcore Freedum riders rarely goes beyond hate, catch phrases, and fear mongering, there is no depth. This is not a group of people that normally follow news, politics, or world events, this is a congregation of individuals that sat at the back of the class and never once put up their hand to ask a question, mostly because they were never actually paying attention to the topic at hand. Unfortunately social media has given them a voice and a sense of community for their stupidity to multiply and double it's volume.
  2. Craziness. Guess where? 14-year-old girl shot by neighbour while playing hide and seek on his lawn, police say. https://globalnews.ca/news/9684528/hide-and-seek-shooting-14-year-old-neighbour/
  3. Wow, a recording by Hal Lone Pine, former Winnipegger and father to Lenny Breau. Randy Bachman has many stories to tell about growing up down the street from Breau when he was a teenager, and receiving informal guitar lessons in trade for hamburgers, you can clearly hear his influence in jazzier songs like "Blue Collar". This song is from 1950 and Lenny was born in 1941, he was a boy genius guitarist, but this may be from before he joined the family band.
  4. As do the UCP, it's not like they don't have any principles!
  5. "Libertarians are like house cats: absolutely convinced of their fierce independence while utterly dependent on a system they don't appreciate or understand."
  6. I don't know how much you're paying attention, but Smith isn't really a conservative, she's a free wheeling libertarian with ties to many far right wacko groups that would be happy to tear down all vestiges of the equalitarian society we've built in Canada. If you can't bother to do your homework, maybe don't bother to vote either. Here are a few links to organizations she has direct ties to, it'll give you a pretty good sense of the their true political agenda, and clearly outlines their full intention of establishing Alberta sovereignty. Are you good with that? https://www.freealbertastrategy.com/ https://www.takingbackalberta.ca/ Notice the tattoo on her forearm? It appears to be a recent addition, it is the Ama-gi symbol, which represents freedom and liberty, but it is also well known as a symbol that brands a libertarian as a member of the tribe. It's also the logo of this right wing think tank. https://www.libertyfund.org/ She has also proudly displayed a "Don't Tread on Me" sign in multiple videos, perhaps there's a rebel flag on the opposite wall??? A few days ago she made the following announcement, by no means is she finished with these ideas, she's just hiding them in her back pocket until after the vote. "United Conservative Leader Danielle Smith says she won’t be campaigning on some of her party’s more contentious ideas – sovereignty legislation, a provincial police force and an Alberta pension plan – ahead of the May 29 election." https://edmonton.citynews.ca/2023/05/05/smith-sovereignty-act/
  7. No doubt, nothing good can come of it when the land is controlled by a few, we seem to be moving backwards in time in a negative direction.
  8. Turns out the largest landowner in Canada is former Winnipegger Robert Andjelic, who owns aprox. 225,000 acres of farmland spread all over Saskatchewan. Previously Andjelic was one of Wpg's largest industrial builders & developers, until he sold those assets in 2007 and started purchasing farmland with the proceeds. https://pulpitandpolitics.com/2022/09/17/saskatchewan-farmland-new-serfdom/
  9. Leggs should probably be happy if this turns out to be the case, still earns the same money but removes the pressure of making game winning FG's from his duties.
  10. Wow, what a disappointment, it sounds like they couldn't make it work with Costner to finish it up properly.
  11. Here is the response from the Chinese Embassy, sounds like a threat to me.
  12. No kidding, the guy responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths and casualties on both sides is whining like a little ***** about his personal safety. No fair!
  13. Great interview with Lightfoot done by Geroge Stroumboulopoulos around 2016.
  14. Not making any excuses for Walker but he had a traumatic childhood, he was overweight, had a speech impediment and was relentlessly bullied and beat up by schoolmates, needless to say that experience scarred him for life. He started doing push ups in the 8th grade and got up to around 2000 per day, along with 3000 sit-ups and 1500 pullups which transformed him into a physical beast. To say he ran "angry" is an understatement, he wanted to kill people. He got into MMA at age 50 just so he could legally beat people up, great athlete but probably not the best candidate for public office! There is an episode about his life on ESPN 30 for 30. This video is a good recap of that documentary.
  15. Hard to keep up, with every day more gems emerge. Here she is discussing taking over control of Federally owned airports with her Campaign Chair and UCP legal advisor Rob Anderson. Artur also had a wonderful day, he formed a brand new party with "sleepy Rob Anders" and was convicted of numerous crimes related to the Coutts border protest. https://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/artur-pawlowski-guilty-coutts-border-blockade Only 27 more days till the election!
  16. Lightfoot was a true genius, not only from a lyrical perspective but the complexity of the musical arrangement, his singing and the instrumentation that accompanied his words was close to perfection. Rick Beato posted a wonderful tribute.
  17. Here is a tidbit from that website. "Matthew Trewhella, pastor and author, joins Tanya on the Empower Hour to discuss his book, The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates. “The lesser magistrate is an old term referring to any in civil government with authority, either elected or appointed” (ie. School board trustee/superintendent, mayor/councillor, MLA/MPP, MP, police, pastors). There isn’t a more important book, other than the Bible, that provides the kind of instruction currently needed to effectively and swiftly dismantle the agenda of corrupt civil servants, in order to maintain our God-given unalienable rights. The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate, “declares that when the superior or higher civil authority makes unjust/immoral laws or decrees, the lesser or lower ranking civil authority has both a right and duty to refuse obedience to that superior authority. If necessary, the lesser authorities even have the right and obligation to actively resist the superior authority.” They have a responsibility to protect the innocent and oppose those who made unjust laws or decrees, when it conflicts with God’s law." I do wonder if this entire movement isn't linked to the emergence of the "mega-churches" that spawned in the mid 80's. Anyone a member of one of these cults?
  18. Danielle Smith's fixation with Trudeau and her attempts to tie Rachael Notley to his apron strings is beginning to look totally loonie, but I sense a glimmer of desperation in this strategy. I hope they get their asses blown off.
  19. This non-sense usually starts in AB, every rabbit hole leads to the den of either Harper or Manning. Executive Director, Take Back Alberta David John Parker is the home-schooled son of a pastor from Central Alberta. He has worked in politics since he was 14 years old and served as an advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and former ministers Shelley Glover, Ed Fast, Rona Ambrose, and Erin O’Toole.
  20. Here's the quote. Smith also compared politics in Canada with politics in the United States. "I look at the Americans. I look at Ron DeSantis in Florida and Kristi Noem in South Dakota," said Smith. "They've been able to create little bastions of freedom, and we can create a little bastion of freedom in Alberta as well." There's no containing her "I don't give a **** attitude", at least she's being openly honest about what she believes in. https://fortsaskonline.com/articles/danielle-smith-visits-gibbons---carbon-tax-health-care-and-a-small-protest
  21. During the televised portion of the Freedom Convoy inquiry held in Feb. I thought James Bauder came across as the looniest of the toons on display, apparently God speaks directly to him and told him to start a convoy. For Danielle Smith the chance to rub shoulders with him prior to an upcoming election is better than a bee to honey. Oh and apparently Theo attended the same event, can't wait for that photo to turn up.
  22. Both of these items should probably be in the comedy thread, but don't want to offend anyone that takes them seriously. Theo Fleury @TheoFleury14 Went to a @ABDanielleSmith event tonight in Calgary. If she doesn’t win Alberta is finished and Canada becomes a communist ####hole. Climate lockdowns and 15 minute cities will be the first then @rachelnotley will go door to door jabbing you with gain of function bio weapons. Get out and vote like your life depends on it. https://twitter.com/theofleury14/sta...591679488?s=21 More griftin' griftin' griftin", gotta keep on griftin" griftin" griftin.... Ezra just helpin' a grifter grift, making sure he gets his slice of the pie.
  23. Oh great, Telus doesn't make nearly enough profit from overcharging for phone services in BC with the assets they "stole" from BC Tel, now they're getting into health care. Oh look, they're in the pharmacy business now too! www.teluspharmacy.com These huge corporations are like vampires, their life blood is money and they can never get enough.
  24. I wonder if this could be a contribution of the CFL's association with Genius Sports?
  25. ....or subsidising arenas for rich owners. Sweep To The Cup @sweeptothecup We did it Calgary! We subsidized a billionaire with YOUR tax dollars in an investment that has shown time and time again, all over North America, to benefit only the rich owners and use fans’ love of their teams against them. All to win an election by meddling in municipal politics!
