Yank Wally, yank. Lulay will stop this quickly.

Nichols isn't made of sugar but Medlock might be, I wish he would just trot off the field to the sidelines on some of those long returns instead of waving at the returner as he blows by. Sooner or later some smart-ass ST player (like O'Shea) will realize his value to the team, line him up and truck him good, penalty be damned.

Testing Our Mettle: Eskies Coming Here

Randle was also guilty of loitering without intent. Edit: Randle eliminated himself from the play by wandering out of bounds. -
Odds and Sods - Blue Bombers at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

I believe Medlock also kicked 6 FG's in the win in Edmonton last year, so if that's what they need to do to win the game, I'm all for it. -

Testing Our Mettle: Eskies Coming Here

If you didn't notice Hurl, you weren't paying enough attention, he was everywhere he needed to be. I finally understand why O'Shea loves this guy so much, he plays to the absolute max. of his abilities on every play even if the goal is not always achieved, can't ask more from a person than max. level of effort. -
Testing Our Mettle: Eskies Coming Here

Not sure anyone is saying that, Thomas is a consistently solid if not spectacular veteran performer. It would be interesting if he ever tested F.A. as I suspect he is under paid for what he contributes, he deserves some Shologan money. -
Testing Our Mettle: Eskies Coming Here

I see trap games in another way, playing a poor opponent can delude a team into thinking they are better than they are, as the Riders discovered when they beat the TiCats then promptly got mauled by the Stamps. I believe the Bombers should beat a decimated Esks. squad easily if they play a solid game but the offence needs to be better than it was at consistently reaching the first down marker in order to sustain drives. Nichols has to be able to find receivers in the 10-15 yard range instead of the 4-6 yards he has been relying on and expecting miraculous YAC performances. The second point is the D-line had tremendous success last night against a pitiful Cat O-line pressuring Collaros on almost every play which in turn made the pass defence look very good. I think this was a temporary illusion and Reilly will again expose the soft spots in Richie Hall's pass D and weak LB group so they have to be aware that is still an ongoing problem to be dealt with and improved upon. The good news they won. The bad news despite solid performances, Jake Thomas, Trent Corney and Sam Hurl have not actually morphed into All-Star quality players in one night, they just had good games against a weak opponent. -
So where is the further explanation of Johnson's release? Stupid media let O'Shea escape the pocket without comment again. Hopefully Bob will sack him on the pre-game show.

Regular Season - Bomber News, Developments & Speculation
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Initially I thought the same but re-watching the RB game I think Thomas is benefiting mostly from Poop's tailwind, not from Nevis. As far as I could tell Nevis is getting no more attention than Poop and he is producing poorer results, often left stranded on the outside looking in. He just does not look very athletic and has little mobility which was not the case when he was in Hamilton. It may not be entirely his fault as I mentioned they may have brought him in to play nose-guard ala Ted Laurent and with the discovery of Poop that plan went into the dustbin. -
So they've removed Renaud, so I guess he's headed back to the PR.

Regular Season - Bomber News, Developments & Speculation

I don't know who is wearing 92 but it sure isn't the same Drake Nevis that played for the Tiger Cats in 2015 as that man was an unstoppable beast. He may be clogging up the middle but he certainly isn't getting great penetration and looks to be in poor athletic condition as both Poop and Thomas are taking more reps. than he is. I may be mistaken but I don't believe he was brought in as a nose guard. Trying to find info. on his weight gain over the years as that may be the culprit but haven't found anything so far. As Poop said in his interview yesterday, in the CFL an interior D-lineman can not be one dimensional, he must run stop but he also needs to contribute to pressuring the QB. I think if Nevis does not improve by years end there will be S.M.S. savings to be had with a cheaper replacement next year. Sad because I was a big fan of his acquisition. -
I'm pretty sure Conteh was on the PR at one point.
-
Good point but if any of these key players are injured Roc is now the #1 replacement.
-
Nichols may never be a thoroughbred but he's a darn good mudder. I believe if the D can keep the Bombers in the game Nichols can find a way to beat any team.
-
Can't believe Roc stole Johnson's job, no way. I could understand Walker and Alexander upgrading the over-all talent of the D-backfield but not Roc. He's had one decent game and if it wasn't for the rule change limiting challenges he may have incurred two more costly P.I. penalties last game. Now if Bruce lost his job to Walker fair and square I can see that. Walker looks to be a dynamo play-maker and should help out against the running game, an area that neither Johnson or Heath are very proficient. LB crew is a downgrade this year from last, hope to god the D-backs don't grade weaker as well as it will render the improved performance of the offence and D-line null and void if they can't show that they are a better over-all team than last year. This defence might hold their own against weaker sisters but time will tell if thy are good enough to contain the top offences in the league.

Lapo needs to start using Normand a little more in pass protection as Edm. does with McCarty, most of the sacks have come with multiple blitzers coming and only Harris in the backfield.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

Kelly was a good O.C./assistant coach under Cal Murphy, obviously he didn't have the personal skills or the acumen to handle the big job. -
As long as Dressler is out, Coates gets the roster spot to hold for Medlock. JFG is doing his job so unless injured I doubt we will see any of Wolitarsky this year.
-
Hurl was two years ago, can't remember how it transpired but he may have started once Wild was injured.
-
Briggs is back, removing Santos Knox from the lineup will allow them to dress Flanders when Dressler returns.
-
It would have been absolutely perfect if Jones threw his only challenge flag on the play. This play from a few years back is still my all time Rider favourite.
-
It amazes me that Loffler has stayed healthy as long as he has, if they had him in the box all the time that might not be the case. I think once Wild comes back Hurl will be adequate as long as Leggett is on the other side.
-
Not to complain but my tear bucket is growing so low, I'm thinking of donating it to some needy Rider fan who can put it to good use.
-
The Bombers have never beaten Collaros so it's time to start another new trend.
