2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

Never heard of them, sounds like a baseball team. I'd bet you a doughnut the Bombers don't put their future in Strev's hands. -

They're both proven and have accomplished much more than Strev. has, so far he's not shown he can stay healthy through an entire season due to the physical style he chooses to play the game. If some people are happy with a .500 record that 's nice, but I don't think it's good enough to earn a playoff berth in an improving West division or compete against the top 2 Eastern teams when the chips are down. As far as stats go Fajardo outperformed Zach last season in most categories despite missing many games, his averages were better and he had a much higher efficiency rating, plus he's still an effective ball carrier going into his 9th season. I personally don't care for him, but objectively that makes no difference in recognizing his experience, motivation and skill set. -

I think Strev's ceiling is winning 50% of the games he starts as long as his health holds out, but after he sustains serious injury they'd be back to square one. PA Stadium is going to become a miserable place to go if they can't keep the wins rolling after Zach is gone. -

Replacing Zach won't be a last minute fix, they'd better be looking miles down the road as they don't have a stellar record of finding or developing their own QB's and the odds Wilson will emerge as an effective starter are probably less than 50%. Might be the best option to trade for the rights to a promising QB that gets stranded behind a starter on another team before they reach FA, as Ottawa did with Dru Brown, not sure such a QB even exists in the CFL right now. I like Jarret Doege in Edmonton, but so far he hasn't been given a chance to show much. If it all came to a head at the end of this season, Fajardo or MBT would be the most likely candidates to fill in for a few years, the Bombers could continue to win most games with either. -

You'll be happy to hear Bob Dyce has been extended again! Richly rewarded for pushing his team past .500. for the first time evverrrr! https://www.cfl.ca/2025/04/03/redblacks-extend-head-coach-bob-dyce-through-2026/ Rick Campbell is lurking, pretending he cares about kickers and punt returns and trying to look innocuous, but it's difficult for an innocuous personality to pretend he's truly innocuous. -

Zach can go one of two ways, he can try to reinvigorate his career and hang on as long as possible as Trevor Harris and BLM are desperately attempting to do by staying in top physical condition and adjusting their games as needed, or he can allow time to take it's toll and pack in his career within the next year or 2 without breaking a sweat. If he reinvigorated, he might be able to stretch out his career another 3-5 years, eventually ending up as a backup QB on some perpetual bottomfeeder, which hopefully is not the Blue Bombers. -

You're reminiscing about the Dru Brown years with Dakota Prukop, haven't heard a peep about the QB room since Brown left. Rumour has it Dolegala mostly hangs out in the hallway cause he can't get past the door. Still wearing frickin Rider green, cause it fits. -

Zach+Buck+success over time=satisfaction, resulting in lazy football, they stopped looking at being creative and relied on what they liked to do the most. Hopefully Zach comes back with a jump in his step looking forward to a fresh start, if not he's just going to tell Hogan to stick to the old gameplan, cause it usually works. -

Pretty sure Neufeld was injured going into TC last year and he wasn't just coasting, caught up to him later in the season when he had to take a few games off to recover. -
Ex Bell executive, consolidating power in the city that doesn't care.

That was "Don't Cover Kenny Lawler Day", the Bombers played well but the Riders put in a weak performance, which set them up poorly for the much tougher Argos the following week when they held Lawler to 2 receptions. It would have been better if the Riders gave them a scare like they did in the 2019 WF, so they didn't approach the GC game over confident in their ability to move the ball. Last year's team really didn't play all that well, crappy start, mediocre record, and even the last regular season game against the Als would not have been won if not for a freak gust of wind. -

That's Adam's cold, hot was when he kicked the Bombers butt all over the field in Wpg. in their first encounter in 2023. Zach paid them back a couple weeks later by returning the favour in BC. -

He's emotionally unstable and lacks self confidence which leads to hot and cold spells, sometimes within the same game. Pointing to the sky every time he completes a TD pass is also looney. -

My point is the Lions likely would have cut Woli in TC if he competed as an Import in 2017, Bombers likely would have done the same under those circumstances. Without his golden passport he doesn't make the team in the first place, kudos to him for using it to his advantage and eventually establishing himself as a decent receiver. -

That would buy him an invite to TC where he'd have to compete with Imports for a spot. in 2017 that would have included Manny Arceneaux, Bryan Burnham, Chris Williams and Nick Moore. -

I doubt that was Campbell's direct decision, do you also think he's the one that pushed them so far over the salary cap? The fact he fired Campbell because it didn't all work out the way he wanted is a pretty bad sign, clear case of an owner getting too involved with the football operation IMO. -

Love Woli, but if it wasn't for a fluke tie to a Canadian passport he wouldn't have had a pro football career at all. He earned his keep once established, but he should consider himself a lucky dude. -

Maybe he's stepping down to become the new commissioner, a virtual puppet on the string of Pierre Karl Péladeau. I have no idea, but the timing is right. -

I wonder if they bring back Bret MacDougall for his 3rd TC with the Bombers, 6'-3" 205 lb DB that returned to Windsor Lancers the last 2 seasons, good size and he's still only 23. https://golancers.ca/sports/football/roster/breton-macdougall/8503 -
Bob Nelson, the football bit starts 2 minutes in, but worth watching Rodney do the intro, sure do miss him.
