Great the Bombers can cut Andrew Harris and go with a cheap American replacement! Huzzah! -
Not news but I don't know where else to post this. Quite by accident I stumbled upon a movie on You Tube recently entitled "Barbarians at the Gate" and was surprised to find out it's about former Winnipeger and U of M grad. F. Ross Johnson, a name I've never even heard before. Johnson was C.E.O. of RJR Nabisco (tobacco and food) in the early 80's and tried to pull off a leveraged buyout of the company which is the basis of the movie. For anyone wanting to watch, this movie is easily located on You Tube by searching "Barbarians at the Gate", fairly cheesy for a 1993 film but it stars James Garner as Johnson, so not all bad. Here is his obit. from the NY Times, sounds like he was a real character and a bit of a shyster as well, maybe that's why he's not celebrated as a local hero. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/31/business/f-ross-johnson-dead-rjr-nabisco.html Anybody heard of him or aware he was originally from Winnipeg?

As a cost savings measure this strategy is going to register as a huge fail on Boeing's behalf, I expect their stock to tumble as more companies and countries reject the MAX 8. Changing the flight characteristics of the original design and trying to compensate with gadgetry is a big no-no, I see the MAX 8 project as dead in the water.

Doesn't bode well for "pilot-less" commercial flight anytime soon, flight has too many variables to manage and thousands of things that can go wrong and do. The more complicated they make these airplanes the less chance a human has of correcting malfunctions while in panic mode. It sounds like this system should have been integrated into "auto-pilot" with one big red button to turn it off or turn it on. K.I.S.S. principle.

Here's what Wikipedia says about the Heartland Institute. The Heartland Institute is an American conservative and libertarian public policy think tank founded in 1984 and based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The Institute conducts work on issues including education reform, government spending, taxation, healthcare, education, tobacco policy, global warming, hydraulic fracturing, information technology, and free-market environmentalism. In the 1990s, the Heartland Institute worked with the tobacco company Philip Morris to attempt to discredit the health risks of secondhand smoke and to lobby against smoking bans.[3][4]:233–34[5] In the decade after 2000, the Heartland Institute became a leading financial supporter of climate change denial.[6][7] It rejects the scientific consensus on global warming,[8]and says that policies to fight it would be damaging to the economy. The Heartland Institute received $675,500 from Exxon Mobil between 1998-2014, they are just one of approx. 5,000 individuals and organizations that sponsored their "research", since 2014 they no longer disclose funding sources. If you pay them enough money they'll say whatever you want. Can you connect the dots? Here's a fun little chart.

I've heard this sad story so many times, such an enormous waste of tax payer's money to continue paying people who basically hate their jobs and are non-functional but are fully committed to collecting their guaranteed salary and pension plans. They milk the hell out of the system and max. out all the benefits they feel entitled to with little concern for being non-productive entities. The cushions built in to protect these govt. employees from severance are ridiculous, I can't see this behaviour being tolerated in the private sector for long as the salary drawn would be coming out of specific individual's pockets who would not tolerate such utter waste.

Well whut daya know....it turns out AB. can set the price of their oil and refineries will pay it and still make billions. Alberta's OPEC-style oil cut puts a stop to easy money for American refineries https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/curtailment-refining-crack-spread-1.5039115 Albertans will still blame Notley and Trudeau for all of their woes regardless.

Now what if a huge ongoing scandal involving a dozen members of the P.M.O. including a direct bribe from his chief of staff was going down and the P.M. said he knew absolutely nothing about any of it, would you believe him and still cast your vote for him? What if that same P.M. just issued statements and never held press-conferences, would you consider him a dictator as well?

Rose looks like an excellent prospect, he should be able to take advantage of the extra space given the size of the CFL field and his skill set. Not sure he will have much more opportunity than Flanders received to make a dent due to ratio but nice to pick up a player with this level of versatility. Could be the next T.J. Thorpe!

One of my all-time favourite actors, his performance in "Under the Volcano" was fantastic, nobody ever played a drunk more convincingly.

For some reason this reminds me of an Argos game.....must be the snow-capped mountains in the background.

Doesn't matter, the video illustrates that Nichols is in great physical condition and works very hard to maintain it. You want to pick at his work out Adonis?
-
Anyone concerned about Matt Nichols physical condition should give his work out a go before criticizing. This was posted Feb. 14/19.

I don't think there are any available F.A.'s that fit the bill, I doubt Walters would seriously consider plugging in a draft pick. Here is a list of the current candidates for mix and match, only one Natl. in the bunch. Bryant, Brandin Calhoun, Kendall Choudja, Patrick Jeffcoat, Jackson Jefferson, Willie McCalister, Alex Nwachukwu, Noble Roh, Craig Thomas, Jake
