  1. I think people are taking ratio replacement far too lightly, Chungh and Goosen have been working in the trenches together for 4 years, Loffler has been an all-star for 3, Demski just completed his 4th year in the CFL. To think that they can all be easily replaced by the next Canuck standing in line pretty much ignores the 25 years of struggle and grief we witnessed when they couldn't find Natls. of equivalent value. To think overhauling the Natl. depth is now "instant breakfast" is ******* ludicrous!
  2. You might have a point, Walters categorizes money into position groups so this could explain why he spent on Bighill and cheaped out on JSK.
  3. Christ, I hope it isn't because they plan to spend $200,000+ on Willy Jefferson.
  4. I get that, one at a time is manageable but flipping 5 Natls. all at once is not going to be pretty, the learning curve for 3 of them is going to be "yuge".
  5. Woli. was already counted as a starter last season, so replacing Demski with Simonise or Peterman provides the same ratio balance as last year on offence supporting 3 Import receivers, as long as Grey and Couture can step in right away. Four Natl. backups replacing 4 Natl. starters from a year ago, I hope that's not the only plan.
  6. Losing a young Import player like JSK is not that concerning as there is a big supply to draw from, they just have to scout well and bring the right candidates in. What is more troubling to me is potentially losing 4 of the 7 Cdn. starters when it took a helluva long time to attain the quality Natl. depth they had last year. No quick fixes there.
  7. Of course they won't let him in, that right is reserved for Leaf players but Bo is free to watch them come and go if he likes.
  8. Except they excluded the Riders in case that wasn't explicitly understood.
  9. You sure like to spend money Floyd, $225k for Ellingson is a losing proposition for all concerned, not likely he can put up numbers to justify that salary with Nichols looking his way, big regrets all-round and blood-thirsty fans will be baying for his beheading to celebrate next Christmas morning.
  10. Half expect them to try and bring Franklin back....in any case they can't lay this disaster at the feet of Len Rhodes he's sporting the Nixon defence.
  11. Replacing Demski with Woli in LaPo's scheme could cause an outbreak of hair to sprout upon LaPo's head, maybe even an Afro. Demski's athletic versatility can not be overlooked, he's a "jack-of-all-master-of-none" kind of player, judged solely as a RB or receiver he seems inadequate, but when added to the mix of Harris and a strong group of receivers he is an effective weapon as his point of attack can cover the entire field based on different starting points, which is an essential component of LaPo's game plan.
  12. Eskimos CEO Len Rhodes sees the writing on the wall and flees the coop, leaving Sunderland and Maas to deal with the blood, feathers and the eventual slaughter....https://edmontonsun.com/sports/football/cfl/edmonton-eskimos/edmonton-eskimos-ceo-len-rhodes-to-exit-organization-feb-20
  13. Has Chungh received any interest from the NFL? That's telling.
  14. Chungh is currently asking for more than Bighill received, so he's exceeded his worth to the club, with the large savings found from both his and Goosen's contract they should be able to sign Lokombo plus two more highly regarded Natl. F.A.'s. to play on the D side of the ball in rotation. This begins to re-balance the ratio, covers over JSK if he goes elsewhere and gives them the potential to negotiate an agreeable price with Lofler if he is the best Natl. available, to maintain stability in the secondary.
  15. The fact his highlight reel for one year is almost 13 mins. long suggests he caught a lot of balls.
  16. Doesn't look all that fast but seems to get clear of defenders and comes down with contested catches, looks like he has good hands.
  17. Hughes disappeared only to be found later passed out on the side of the road with his truck motor still running. 🍺 🍺🍺 🍺 🍹 🍺 🍺
  18. They gave up on a team leader like Chris Randle to go after a guy like Jefferson??? I don't get this direction, Jefferson is a mercenary, here next year gone the next.
  19. I think it was more like $170,000 and that sure did work out well.
  20. Here's what happens quite often, companies create smaller shell corps. down to the level of an individual well, then when it's tapped out they pull out and declare bankruptcy on the shell corp. leaving the costs to the gov't for cleanup with no way to go after the extracted wealth. This practice has gone on for decades and neither the AB. govt. nor the oil patch has done anything to discourage it. May they rot in hell.
  21. I posted this in another thread, knowing this one would eventually be locked. πŸ˜€ Supreme Court rules energy companies must clean up old wells β€” even in bankruptcy https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/supreme-court-redwater-decision-orphan-wells-1.4998995
  22. Who's the shortstop?
  23. Gives Rod a whole other language to exfoliate in.
  24. Last time I checked both Reilly and Derel Walker missed the playoffs. Obviously the Esks. need to pay them more money!
  25. No way, that's Bighill sized money. Max. I'd pay for an import receiver that maybe gets 5 touches per game is $175,000, it's not financially a high priority when there are 4 other receivers on the field to help spread the load. Might make sense for the Esks. with Reilly chucking bombs but not so much for Nichols running a LaPo offence. I bet no other CFL team has a RB earning in the vicinity of $225,000.
