I see we’ve proceeded to the part of the off-season where we forget that replacements for old players don’t cost $0

    SPECULATIONSZN

The cap is $5.585 million this year, that’s roughly 125k per spot on the active roster.

people would be horrified if they saw how much Jake Thomas, Jesse Briggs, Shayne Gauthier, etc were making. Hell, did anyone discuss how we’re also paying Cam Lawson about 140k this year?

For the potential of being a Cdn starter. Cdn on both sides of the line if they are decent are not cheap.

I brought up Schoen because that IS the debate. Who is more valuable and what is the walk-away point for each? People say they are not turning on Brady, but then he he isn’t FIFO and slapping his teammates in the face with his desire to make bank, and have drawn a clear line in the sand with what he is worth, but no one is questioning Schoen and what he will cost us. And I am not so sure that replacing the MOC and easily top RB in the CFL is easier than a top receiver (mindful that we already have a #1 in Lawler). And Schoen hasn’t shown any more or less commitment to re-signing here than Brady. But I sense people are disgruntled with Brady more so when they say he can walk and we will be fine or better? Is it purely that folks think any player can be a running back, or is it something more - like maybe his tweet that got noses out of joint? And is the cost of Schoen not more prohibitive in building the rest of the team? (To be clear I am not leaning one way or another, but it appears others certainly are, and I am wondering why the difference?)

Schoen has not posted a Kane like money tweet...and this is a passing league. Add to it that we can replace BO with a cheaper option with a combo couple of American Rbs that we can swap in and out to keep opposing defenses guessing like Calgary does with Carey and Logan and we can be a better offensive team. Replacing Schoen would be a hell of alot harder. It's what makes the Bombers better or at least as good that matters.

The Bombers did Brown no favours trading him to Ottawa. he had a chance to be a very good CFL qb but now he's in Ottawa's system. he'll be trotted out as the starter, beat up. spit out & fail. Just like every qb after Hank Burris that they've had. They've all been used & abused. That's just how that team rolls. Lousy coaching & lousy team. I'm sad we lost Dru Brown but I'm more sad that he ended up in Ottawa.

I have no proof but it seems reasonable to assume that Brown wanted to go there , and the Bombers accommodated him...

I'm certain that's a half-truth at best. I'm inclined to believe more in the "Wanted to burn a year of ELC last year, Flyers wouldn't do it, agent and family got pissy, refused to sign..." story than anything else.

That or he didn't want to be coached by Torts, pretty soon are we gonna have more young players dictating what team they will go to in the draft?

Signing Ryan reaves has bit Toronto in the ass. These goons suck

we don’t need any. They barely exist anymore. I’m not sure why ppl think that guys who can’t keep up will make a difference. Reaves. What’s he stop? Nothing. We have team toughness. Toughness isn’t about being some face punching Neanderthal

    Oh btw

it was a sellout. Since a few ppl loved mentioning no sellouts b4. Figure u better mention it when it is otherwise don’t mention it when it’s not.

Yeah, we will see after the All star break and teams ramp up the physical play, i would take Reaves over Toninato all day, but not at what TO pays Reaves, but we definitely could use some one like that, intimidation is still a huge factor. Just look at Vegas...

You're literally complaining about the team's 15th forward. Who by the way has 2 points in 2 games this season.

Yup, i think if your gonna have an extra forward around he should add something, toughness is something we have lacked for a long time ...still think it is gonna bite us in the playoffs unless Chevy does something.
