You can only use your own picks in the supplemental draft. Yes, but acquiring a second one would ensure we still have a 2nd round pick next year, even if we use our own in the supplemental draft this year.
-
How about this trade: Greaves and Richards (or Bastien if Walters could pull it off) for Demski and a Riders 2016 2nd rounder. BC, Hamilton and maybe Edmonton are likely trade partners as well.
-
What type of return would you expect? In my opinion Greaves value is similar to Bomben, maybe a little lower.
-
I agree Greaves is solid, but when you're paying 5 guys and only have 2 spots, maybe it's best to trade one for a future asset. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to trade Greaves. Walters also seems to want to make this HIS team, and get rid of the Mack era leftovers.
-
I guess the question is how much confidence does the coaching staff have in Quinn Everett? If he can be close to serviceable, I think we'd be fine with NI depth without Greaves. Right now, if Geaves, Picard and Neufeld are starting, we have Goossen, Chungh and Everett as Canadian OL depth. If Everett can step in as an injury replacement, I don't think you'd need an OL in return, as you'd still have Goossen and Everett as NI depth. Plus in a pinch, with the acquisition of Westerman, you could start 3 imports on the OL and still be fine with the ratio.

CFL 2015 League Standings Predictions
gbill2004 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm thinking this is the far more likely scenario. lol -
I'm thinking Walters will want a 1st rounder for Greaves. I wonder if Taman would trade Demski for Greaves?
-
Lots of interesting tidbits in that article: -Lirim's contract negotiations going nowhere fast. - Bombers and Yantz working on a 3 year contract -Greaves makes $145k per season and Neufeld makes $140k per. -Graig Newman will be trying out at WIL linebacker.
-
Agreed. He reminds me of Sam Hurl with a little bit of Johnny Sears. But like JBR says, it's tough to tell for sure from the videos if he's playing against lesser competition.

Sammy Brown Scouting Report Sammy Brown - Houston (HT: 6-3 - WT: 240) Positives -- Good size and game speed at the outside linebacker position... An instinctive pass rusher, good timing skills for anticipating the snap count, has a good initial step and can bend the edge against blockers... Plays well with his hands and can fool blockers with an impressive swim move; also has the size to develop a good bull rush... Knows when to get his hands up and bat the ball down... A solid tackler, good fundamentals with wrapping up the ball carrier... Will be asked to play outside in a 3-4 scheme at the NFL level and has experience playing the position as opposed to being a hybrid projection... Led the FBS with 30 tackles for loss in 2011, 7.5 TFL more than his closest competitor, Whitney Mercilus of Illinois... Has the upside to develop into a poor man's Lamar Woodley in the NFL, worth a late round flyer pick. Negatives -- Is not a finished product and will require significant coaching at the next level... A bit of a one trick pony at this point, will need to develop a power/bull rush in order to succeed in the NFL... Does not play well against the run, crashes down too often and gives up the outside... Plays flat footed against the run, appears to not trust his instincts in the run game... Gets blocked out of plays by below average tackles and tight ends; needs to get stronger all around at the next level... Does not have any significant coverage skills to speak of, will need to develop them in the NFL... Has good stats but makes a lot of plays when unblocked or uncontested (artificial inflation). At Houston -- (Official School Bio) 2010: Played in all 12 games and started 11... Led Conference USA and ranked fifth in the NCAA in tackles for loss with 20... The 20 TFL rank tied for sixth in the Houston record books... Ranked tied for fourth in Conference USA in quarterback sacks... Made his collegiate debut against Texas State during the season opener... Finished with six tackles, including an assist on a 4-yard sack against the Bobcats... Recorded six tackles, including four solo stops, with a tackle for a 1-yard loss... Also added a forced fumble, pass breakup and three quarterback hurries against the Miners.. recorded four tackles, including at 4-yard sack, at UCLA... Posted three tackles, including one for a 3-yard loss, and added a quarterback pressure against Tulane... Made eight tackles, all solo, against Rice... also had five tackles for loss (31 yards) and two sacks (22 yards) bringing the Owls back 53 yards in total... Delieverd a performance that earned him co-Defensive Player of the Week against SMU... Led the team with eight tackles, including seven solo stops... Also had two sacks totaling five yards, four tackles for loss totaling 10 yards, and a forced fumble against the Mustangs... Had four tackles, including one solo and an assisted sack for a 2-yard loss against Memphis... Led the team with 11 tackles including four solo stops, of which two were for a total of four yards lost against UCF... Made seven tackles, including an assisted sack for a 2-yard loss and a tackle for a 4-yard loss against Tulsa... Posted 12 tackles, two for loss and a sack at USM.

Yep, after doing some research and watching his video, definitely hope we go after Waggoner. If it's true that we pick second last in each round, we might need to give up a 2nd rounder next year to get him.

OL Sukh Chungh (1st round, 2nd overall)
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
@garrettbillan1: @PentonKirk any idea why Chungh only signed for 2 years? Mateas, who has same agent as Chungh signed for 3. Goossen signed 3 last year too. @PentonKirk: @garrettbillan1 I don't know why it happened yet, but it's not good. -
How happy are you with Walters' Draft work?
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That's a good point. There was/is uncertainty with Waud because of his mini-camp invite this weekend. -
@JDunk12: @garrettbillan1 Sounds like both Waggoner and Chapman will get selected. Rounds are always hard to predict.

How happy are you with Walters' Draft work?
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Walters recently said he doesn't expect either to end up in the CFL for at least 2 years. -
@JDunk12: Dartmouth LB/DB @GarrettWaggoner and Central Michigan DB Jarret Chapman (@JarretChap) available in 2015 #CFL Supplemental Draft.
-
@JDunk12: Official: #CFL Supplemental Draft set for Wednesday, May 20 at 1pm ET.

QB Jordan Yantz (undrafted camp invitee)
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Just think, if he hadn't had that steak and cheese sub toasted...lol Taman really worked up an appetite during the draft. He really needed that footlong before working on the Riders neg list. -
OL Sukh Chungh (1st round, 2nd overall)
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Okay boss. Some people do care. Mateas just signed a 3 year contract with Ottawa. Same with Goossen last year. If you don't care, that's cool. But others do care. I'm quite curious why he only signed 2 years. -
OL Sukh Chungh (1st round, 2nd overall)
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well I like long term planning. To me it is a bit of a red flag. I'd be much more comfortable with a 3 year deal, considering most rookies don't make much of an impact their first year. -
OL Sukh Chungh (1st round, 2nd overall)
gbill2004 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This concerns me even more now. Mateas and Chungh both have the same agent, yet Mateas signed a 3 year deal and Chungh only 2 years. -

@JDunk12: @Darren_Cameron @garrettbillan1 Apologies guys, typo on my end and it's now fixed.
