  1. Impossible to say. I'm not happy about the Morgan pick either because that's not who I wanted to see, but we can't say "so and so would've been available" - it's pretty obvious that draft boards don't play out anywhere near what the media and fans expect. So while I'm not thrilled with the pick, it can't be called a waste at this point. Agreed it's impossible to say, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think we got the expected value out of that pick that I was hoping for, especially considering how much Walters was pumping how great this draft was. After sleeping on it though, I think Walters had a solid draft, but he didn't hit a home-run like I was hoping for. A home-run for me would have been Chungh, Demski and Shortill. That would have been an A+ in my books. Instead, I give Walters a B. I'm thinking they really wanted Shortill but really NEEDED a receiver and really liked Addison Richards. By the time their next pick came around, on Kyle Walter's board I see Shortill's name crossed off and Morgan's name right under it. Exactly, it's obviously out of Walters control, but he is graded on the results. My initial grade is a B,maybe B+ just because Chungh looks like a real stud. Could look back in a couple years and it's an A+, but right now I have him at B/B+.

  3. From today's Free Press...looks like Bellefeuille is high on Richards:
  4. Bombers could have gotten Morgan in the 3rd or 4th so what looked like a genius move in swapping picks with the Riders in the Watson trade now seems kind of wasted.
  5. @CFL_News: #BCLions probably now have too many Cdns,; will announce the release of a couple, Antwi Akwasi and Matt McGarva. #CFL via @FifthQtr
  6. Interview with Addison Richards:
  7. From Justin Dunk prior to the draft: 6) Addison Richards, REC, Regina, 6’4”, 202 pounds Scouts take: “He’s just a physical specimen: big, tall and fast.” “You cannot teach size, but you can teach everything else. He catches the ball away from his frame. He ran 4.65 seconds in the 40 – fast for his size.” “He opened a lot of eyes at the East West Bowl.” “He needs to get bigger, tougher and stronger. He can very easily become the next Jason Clermont, just the way he plays. He’s a faster version of Clermont. I don’t think he’s as physical as Clermont was, I think he could be a little more physical for his size.” “Raw player with great physical attributes. He needs to work with a receiver coach and really fine tune his route running and awareness on the field.”
  8. @TimCBaines: Surprising news from #Ottawa #RedBlacks. FB John Delahunt will announce retirement Wednesday. #CFL
  9. Addisson Richards NFL Scouting Report ANALYSIS Strengths Tall, rangy target. Able to fit in and compete at East-West Shrine Game practices against much better competition than he had faced previously. Easy mover who is smooth in his routes. Works back to the ball and digs out low throws. Hands-catcher. Weaknesses Slow off the line of scrimmage. Is unable to eat up cushion and threaten cornerbacks with deep speed. Lacks twitch and suddenness at top of his routes. Will have to make contested catches a habit. Draft Projection Undrafted Bottom Line Developmental receiver with height and plus hands. Richards showed that he belonged at the East-West Shrine Game, but he must improve his route running to make up for his lack of separation quickness.
  10. And remember Bucknor is 30 and only signed a one year contract extension.
  11. @ArashMadani: BREAKING - Per #CFL sources, Alex Mateas is at the RedBlacks facility as Ottawa's No. 1 pick. Belief is contract negotiations are underway.
  12. Penton hears that Bombers talked to Tevon Campbell today.
  13. @JimTothSports: Hearing @UofCDinos OL Sukh Chungh is the man for #Bombers if there at #2 in #CFLDraft
  14. I don't think the Bombers get Chungh at 4 though so I wouldn't do that.
  15. I'm pretty sure he started every game at guard for the Als last year. Okay, then that's a good trade for the Ticats. They wanted an OL but must have been convinced the top 6 would be gone at pick 8. Plus no need to wait, Bomben can start right away.
  16. Is Bomben a legit starter, or more of a 6th OL-type?
  17. Als are now competition for Demski at 8. Can't see them taking a WR at 8.
  18. With Mateas going to the Redblacks, looks like Walters will get his guy. wait...what? It doesn't start till 7?Correct, but the Redblacks beat reporter said Ottawa is taking Mateas.
  19. With Mateas going to the Redblacks, looks like Walters will get his guy.
  20. @SUNMitchell: Also, I'm not sure I'm buying Sean McEwen going back to school. Seems leverage-y. #CFL
  21. And I hope we take an OL with the number 2 pick, otherwise I have to eat Mike's shorts
  22. If I recall correctly, Sears healthy scratches also had something to do with O'Shea being impressed with Unamba on special teams.
  23. @PentonKirk: Duane Forde mentioned this yesterday, and a source also says Michigan State OL James Bodanis could go pretty high. #CFL
  24. @PentonKirk: Some teams have been asking Bisons QB Jordan Yantz if he would be interested in doing some special teams along with QB stuff. #CFL
