Bomber Camp Day #1 rating the best/worst

i would say its almost impossible. so i would ask you to name say (2)? that should be easy. cause its impossible. and do not name NAIA or d3 schools. real NCAA bcs programs run their operations like professionals. No where near CIS programs. CIS programs are like playing for AAA sharks or Brandon Wheat Kings. If some NCAA players are having trouble keeping up in the CFL its due to lack of effort and why Gabe Lynn was released. He didn't want to be here anymore. You can tell the skill difference between some of these guys. Look at someone like Darvin Adams to say JFG. Adams is more polished. He is more fit. You can also look at how they handle coaching. Today there were so many players shrugging off what Buck Pierce was saying during drills. And them someone like Cameron Marshall steps up and is extremely polished. You need to understand the difference of coaching. There is a big gap in talent of coaching between Brian Dobie and Guz Malzahn. Players were shrugging off what Buck Pierce was saying today??? I definetely did not see that. Would you mind expanding on what exactly you saw that makes you think that? Who were the players doing this? -

Thing is CJOB is a dying station. TSN 1290 is on the up's. CJOB is just a tired station. If you can't see that, you're just not dialled in…week by week. (or something like that) Asides from their Bombers coverage, CJOB seems like a station for 80 year olds. -

Bauming is very good and that makes some sense. Can't see him leaving TSN1290 though unless they made him sports director at CJOB. -

Bob Irving hasn't officially retired. He works part-time now.1290's pre and post game coverage is much better than CJOB's. -

I really hope it's not Jim Toth. He's terrible. But ya, Bob Irving's best before date has now passed. With all due respect, it's time for the living legend to retire. -

Bomber Camp Day #1 rating the best/worst

Penton said he thought Richards was "sore". And Penton would know as much about it as a fan would since no one from the Bombers said one way or the other.Pretty sure Penton has conversations with players, coaches and management that aren't official interviews. In fact I saw him doing this today. -

I don't think a team can ever make him their starter because of the concerns with his knee. Too risky to build a team around a guy like that, in my opinion. But man is he ever fun to watch.

I keep seeing tweets and posts about how Willy looked good today. Were saying he was 9/9 in scrimmage. Yep, Willy went 9/9 but most of his throws were mid-range, I don't recall him going deep much, or at all. Some of the other QBs like Yantz went deep quite a bit so those are lower percentage passes. Tough to compare.

Tuinei had at least one drop. I agree 100% on Adams, he looked very polished. Childs didn't do anything to stand out to me, and I believe he also had a drop. Willie also had some nice catches but a drop or two.

Interesting you thought Childs was by far the best WR today. He sure didn't jump out at me, but everyone has their own perspective. -
I agree it's not a great start, but someone made a good point that this is his first pro TC so maybe his body needs to adjust a bit.

Addison Richards missed practice today because he was sore.

My buddy showed up so couldn't update the 2nd half while I was there. Overall, JFG and Darvin Adams really impressed at WR. Adams caught some deep balls and JFG caught everything thrown to him up the middle; JFG was playing really physical today. Bastien looks legit, didn't stand out really, but caught everything thrown his way. Practice was fairly physical for the first day of camp. The other import WRs like Willie, Childs, Tuenei all hade their ups and down...they were inconsistent today in the second half. Cotton looks like he's fighting for a job, and when I say this, I mean he looks motivated. He was playing angry. Marshall also looked good at RB. For the QBs. Willy looked sharp. And Marve and Portis looked very good. Portis's passes were all on target and he was throwing on the move quite a bit too, all his passes were caught and some were difficult throws. Marve has the strongest arm, just throwing bullets. Brohm looked bad today, couldn't find open receivers and when he did get the ball off it was a check down to an RB. Brohm just might be my surprise TC cut. At the end of practice, the players all came over and shook the fans hands...very classy.

Second half just starting now after a 10 minute break.
-
Willard Reaves here watching his son.
-
Hurl looks good. Big solid guy and looks agile.Waggoner playing LB now. JFG making some tough catches up the middle. Willy looking sharp. Two nice completions in a row to Moore in scrimmage. Cotton with a nice run up the middle but Leggett forced him to fumble. Brohm now in and struggling to find open receivers. Goossen with a high snap that sails over Marve's head. Marve looking sharp.
-
Stoudermire impressing at receiver. Just caught a few deep balls and his burst off the line is impressive; he's killing everyone off the line. Jordan Reaves has nice hands. Millington dropped an easy deep ball. Darvin Adams looking good in the slot and on deep balls. Toney Clemmons impressing me today. Catching everything thrown to him, even with a DB on him. Nice seeing Bryant, Dile, Picard all here in person. Stanley Bryant just dominated Peach, then Westerman in line vs line drills. Legget just made a nice int in the skelly.

@johnskelton19: Met some great guys while with the @MTLAlouettes Normally would thank a team for the opportunity, but in this case I didn't even get one.

Bombers sign long-snapper Chad Rempel & Release Others...

Mike Willie School: Arizona State Position: WR Bio: Junior college transfer who's started the past two years, posting 36 receptions/455 yards/3 TDs as a senior and 36/442/6 as a junior. Positive: Athletic receiver with nice size and upside. Makes difficult catches in traffic, lays out for the errant throw and makes some incredibly athletic grabs. Displays good eye/hand coordination, flashes big-time skill and makes the tough catch downfield. Plays faster than his 40 time and outruns opponents down the sideline. Effective when he extends to make the reception away from his frame. Quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Negative: Loses focus on occasion and drops some catchable throws. Must be more aware of ball security. Lacks great deep burst and the ability to get separation down the field. Analysis: Willie is physically gifted and has shown flashes of ability, though has never truly elevated his game. He's a terrific developmental prospect who could eventually grow into a fourth receiver if properly coached.
