  1. I just hope it wasn't Wade. No one needs to see that.
  2. @PentonKirk: .@garrettbillan1 Yes, the #Bombers were one of the teams that worked out Waggoner.
  3. So 4 teams worked out Waggoner. I wonder if the Bombers were one of them?
  4. Is the draft tomorrow blind bidding or does each GM know what the other GMs bid?
  5. If I had made travel plans based on coming to a few days of TC (and I've done it before) I'd be pretty cheesed. I think this just shows that the Bombers aren't very connected with their fanbase. BC can get away with holding training camp in Kamloops because no one in Vancouver cares. Winnipeg is different. People care. The fans are passionate. The Bombers seem to just not get that. Even the media doesn't get it. What would you like them to do? Spend a bunch of money for a couple dozen fans? That's usually the amount of people who aren't Bomber employees or people who are supposedly covering the team for local media at the TC practices I've been to other than the opening full practice which they've made into an event in recent years. Let's apply some logic and rational thinking here. Be happy to. Here's a hypothetical conversation in the Bomber office. It should have occurred early last month and involves two members of the Bomber front office. Let's call the first one Tall Forehead (TF) and the second one Deep Thinker (DT).TF: Hey DF, what should we do about training camp? It's coming up next month and we're not going to be able to use the stadium. We need to tell the fans what's happening so they can do whatever they need too. DT: Yea, I've already made a couple of calls to have bleachers set up at the practice field. Won't be the best but if we get some washroom facilities and maybe call a food vendor or two, we'll be just fine. We won't have to spend much on this but at least no one, except that maybe that 17to85 guy will be able to say we didn't try. TF: Sounds good. You want to do the announcement or should I? DT: Already done. Just sent it to the boss for approval. Hope he appreciates what we're trying to do here. Now, let's see what the actual conversation, which took place no earlier than yesterday probably looked like: TF: Hey DF, what should we do about training camp? It's coming up next week and we're not going to be able to use the stadium. We need to tell the fans what's happening so they can do whatever they need too. DT: **** the fans. They should be bloody grateful that we even let them in the stadium for games. TF: Ya, you're right. I'll get the PR folks do do up a release to remind everyone just how lucky they are. DT: Cool. By the way, how are season ticket sales going? LMAO!!! Too funny!
  6. With Westerman and a few NI backups already on the roster, why do we need to trade for a DT?
  7. Penton tells me it might not be a 3 year deal anymore as there was a "glitch" in the negotiations caused by his agent. Penton expects Yantz to develop on the PR this year.
  8. @PentonKirk: The #Bombers have signed DB Brendan Morgan and LB Justin Warden. Now just need Richards, Normande and Lattanzio to sign.
  9. Bombers trying to close TC to the fans is a pretty big deal. It'd be a nightmare having to rely on Jim Toth's tweet's for TC updates.
  10. How does a tweet like that go out and then get deleted 5 minutes later? Does no one talk to each other within the Bombers organization?
  11. I'll be attending training camp this year, but because of this disappointing news I won't be booking a full week off work like I normally do.
  12. @DuaneFordeTSN: .@nsawatzky Waggoner is a good enough #CFL prospect that he was on BC's neg list as an international before he became a Canadian citizen.
  13. I was allowed inside the chain linked fence last year and it was a non-issue. There was maybe a dozen fans watching and the same number of media. Not sure why they couldn't do the same this year. There's lots of space on the side to either stand or set up lawn chairs.
  14. I watched practice there a few times last year. The vantage point is pretty bad as you're on the same level as the players, but the Bombers did allow fans in to watch. This is disappointing though.
  15. @DuaneFordeTSN: #CFL Supplemental Draft is Wed.- includes DBs Garrett Waggoner (Dartmouth) & Jarret Chapman (CMU). Best Supplemental Draft class since 2011.
  16. lol @ Riders fans thinking Greaves will be outright cut coming out of training camp. I sure hope we're not in that bad cap trouble.
  17. Either way you look at it, this is a great problem to have. Too many good Canadian o-linemen.
  18. From TMZ: Adrian Robinson Jr. -- the 25-year-old ex-NFL linebacker who died this weekend -- was killed by gunfire in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania ... TMZ Sports has learned. Officials tell TMZ Sports ... Robinson Jr. died Saturday after being hit in a shooting. The details surrounding the shooting are still unclear. We don't know if cops believe Robinson was targeted or if it was a random shooting ... but we're working on it. Robinson -- who played for the Steelers and the Broncos -- is survived by his young daughter Avery Marie.
  19. Great scouting report on Allen here: http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1988161-denicos-allen-nfl-draft-2014-highlights-scouting-report-more
  20. Greaves is a tier above Neufeld and not overpaid by about $50,000 a year coming off a career threatening injury. Then why did Walters give Neufeld $140k this offseason if he was $50k overpaid when he was making $120k?
  21. In this scenario we would be giving Sask their future NI receiver and an NI offensive lineman in his prime for our future NI receiver and a big fat question mark for next draft. I would hope that we'd get more back in return if we made a trade like this. I don't think this quite makes sense from our side. Well look at it this way. I think we can agree that Demski is worth more than Richards. And as a comparison, we essentially got Neufeld from Taman for a 2nd rounder in the Alex Hall trade, so the value of a NI OL is somewhere between a 1st and 2nd rounder. Maybe the 2nd rounder needs to be a 1st, I'm just thinking out loud here...
  22. To say Walters wasn't crunching the numbers when making moves this offseason, is a poor assessment in my opinion. The Bombers are in the process of upgrading the OL. If they feel that Chungh is/will be an upgrade over Greaves then this all makes perfect sense. Prior to last week the Bombers had no guarantees they'd get Chungh. I'm sure Walters can afford to keep Greaves, but its not an ideal situation cap wise, which is why he's considering trading away an asset to upgrade the team elsewhere. Smart management of assets in my opinion. But I don't see Greaves being traded right away, I think the Bombers will want to see first hand if Chungh can step in right away.
  23. I'd say both factor into the decision. Bottom line is if Chungh is ready to start, you can't have a guy making $145k sitting on the bench.
  24. Good point on Peach. I'm not sure Goossen is a shoe-in at RG though. I think that'll be a TC battle between Goossen and Neufeld, and I have a feeling Neufeld wins it.
  25. Agreed, except Neufeld is a "Walters guy", is more versatile and slightly cheaper.
