  1. I get your point, just hard to accept that Trump has that kind of power. Fauci is still plugging along. And his followers are just plain crazy. Lots of noise but I don’t see physical threats coming from him.
  2. But unlike a real mob boss who could have you killed for crossing him, what real life-altering threat would Trump be to a non-political person who is not in line to get re-elected? Birx could have spoken out, and it’s not like she would never get a medical job again. The way to combat loud bullies like Trump is to stand up to them, because their phone power display masks insecurity and weakness at its heart.
  3. Would be curious to know how much more they would have projected to have lost had they played the season with no fans like many wanted them to.
  4. Just add her to the list of Bolton, Scaramucci, Cohen, Sondland, Mattis, Tillerson, Kelly, Sessions, Comey, etc. who happily stayed quiet and did the President’s bidding or at least muted their criticism until after they got fired, and then only spoke out when it was too late to generate any meaningful change, and was usually only an attempt at self-promotion or rehabilitation rather than for the good of the country. Not sure what dangerous power Trump held over them to keep their silence and buy their complicity? Even Vindman only suffered a non-promotion, and Trump’s bullying was so transparent that it’s hard to imagine Vindman’s reputation would be so sullied by an attack from Trump that it would make him a pariah to the rest of the thinking world. There is nothing redemptive about this 24th hour atonement.
  5. Brossoit adds a goal to his assist as he puts one in his own net. Makes that 3rd goal look pretty.
  6. Paywall.
  7. Stastny with a huge PP goal. Flames make it close but a nice punch to Tkachuk’s head by DeMelo on a scramble and we get 2 clean points.
  8. Yeah, my initial gut call for Lucic has been validated. Dirty hit.
  9. Is it just me, or does it feel like ever since Forbert had those 11 blocked shots in that one game that the whole team has now bought in to sacrificing themselves to get in front of the puck a whole lot more than before?
  10. KFC gets his own rebound and we go up by 2. Mid-game poll: Who has the more punchable face - Matthew Tkachuk or Milan Lucic?
  11. I would re-consider my original stance. And possibly risk exposing UFA Lowry to keep Appleton protected. Now if Lowry signed, then who of Lowry, Copp or Appleton do you expose? Factor in potential contract cost as well as ability and Appleton might hang around over Copp.
  12. Best stat I saw was Connor McDavid has 60 points, Buffalo has 64 goals. Who will win that scoring race?
  13. I feel like it is freaky Friday and Speedflex has inhabited my body, from co-opting my “harsh reality” stance on the state of the league to the very wordy posts. I swear I have not hacked his account.
  14. The TV rights come nowhere close to covering 60% of team costs. For the 2019 Bombers, it covered 11.8%. And I don’t know if it the CFL preferring to be on cable. Bell media owns TSN and CTV, so they could broadcast on network, but TSN needs an anchor tenant to fill broadcast space. CBC is publicly owned, so who can the league get into a rights bidding war with? You are left with Global, CITY TV, or Sportsnet - another cable outlet. As you said, revenue streams in Canada are limited. I recall that when TSN bought the rights they were buying a dead product TV-wise. It took creating Friday Night Football to build interest in the league.
  15. YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!
  16. The Armia chance: As much as I like Ray Ferraro as a colour man, the 5 second delay between Winnipeg and Toronto makes for some pretty choppy commentary.
  17. Another pass instead of shoot play by Ehlers, but a lucky bounce to Connor gives us an easy goal. Looks like Montreal has the turnover-itis tonight.
  18. Jets are too cute for their own good far too frequently for my liking. Just shoot the puck when you are on the slot. Quit looking for the perfect back door pass.
  19. This so Morrissey’s second year without Trouba and he has struggled both years, this year even more than last. How long before we find that magic partner for him? He has not played like a number one defenceman since he got paid like one. I think there is still potential, but would the Rangers give us a hefty haul where there would be risk and possible reward? And with Pionk angling for a bigger raise and DeMelo locked in at a good rate for 3 more years, do you really think we would expose him in the draft?
  20. The expansion draft is a problem for any deadline deals, unless it is a pure rental, and a 1st and 2 prospects is a steep price to pay. Radical trade idea - is there a 3 way deal that could be done with the NYRangers? We send Morrissey to NY to re-unite with Trouba, since neither of them seems to be able to play without the other, and Trouba certainly isn’t coming back to Winnipeg, regardless of contract size. We get rid of a heavier contract and a player with potential but is hurting us now, the Rangers get a chance to have 2 good d-men whose whole has shown to be better than the sum of it’s parts to reinvigorate both, and perhaps they give up a first round pick and a another 3-4 defenceman, we flip that pick and maybe one of our own, or Niku and a forward prospect to Nashville for Echolm. So we get 2 d-men now and give up Morrissey and either prospect or draft pick but not both, Rangers give up a s-man and draft pick for Morrissey, and Nashville gives up Echols and gets 2 first rounders or first rounder (New York’s) and prospect (ours). Too crazy to even consider, or would we ask/get more in return for Morrissey? How badly do we want to keep a first round pick, and is this the way to do it?
  21. It’s a shame that in their first season they got swept by the Capitals late in the year. Otherwise they could have had a shot at having both a North division and a Southeast division championship banner along with their inevitable Central division banner.
  22. The only wasted vote is the one not cast. Anyone who can’t be bothered to vote has no business complaining about the ruling party. Or get into politics oneself if the existing options are unpalatable.
  23. If there is nothing in it for the XFL and they are essentially just a bankroll, then why would they bother? And why would they postpone their season next year pending talks with the CFL? Let’s not assume they don’t need us and have the CFL over a barrel. I suspect there is some leverage for the CFL.
