  1. I'm not sure that 9&9 is a season that will save the jobs of some Bomber coaches. I sure as heck would not say that is a successful season, particularly when the same problems that have bedeviled the team for years hamstrung the team again.
  2. From Riderville: Caleb Holley has been 6-gamed, and the Riders have signed RB's former defensive back Shaw, From T.0: Argos are wooing Duron Carter in Toronto today, and Als have released promising Canuck OL Landon Rice. FWIW
  3. I do not see anyone calling for Nichols to be permanently benched in favour of Streveler, but rather that we want to see that if the game is not going well for Nichols, Streveler will be put in to give the team and fans hope. As a fan, it is very frustrating to see Nichols coming out again and again when clearly he is struggling. Streveler ought to have had a lot more reps and time to adapt to the CFL, so ought to be more effective now. Nichols does not seem to be getting better, and Saturday will tell us a lot.
  4. There were a lot of extreme comments and I guess the mods got tired of refereeing.
  5. I almost yelled at the radio (it really wasn't the radio's fault) when I heard that while driving. Either this forum to a man (sorry iHeart) is seriously deluded or senility has struck the Bombers coaching staff. I don't know whether to feel angry, sad or resigned.
  6. The Bombers have to play all four quarters?
  7. Ironically, you have described the type of player that O'Shea was.
  8. Ironically, you have described the type of player that O'Shea was.
  9. For me, it was disturbing that O'Shea's answer to a porous defence under Hall's guidance was to say that he would be spoon-feeding Hall more this year. Why? Hall is not a rookie DC and if he has to be supervised, what does that say about Hall's competence?
  10. Despite the Stamps' implosion last game, the Bombers are going to have their hands full with them. I don't know if, given the current state of affairs in Bomberland, a win is likely, but they have to show they can compete. Another blowout loss would make the locals here very unhappy.
  11. Agreed, for the most part, but Nichols has to be better. Whatever ails him may not be his fault, but he is the lightning rod.
  12. That would confuse the snot out of the opposition, though.
  13. 5 years of rebuilding, zero playoff wins=futility and year six is in doubt
  14. So six years of futility is not enough to drive major changes but seven is? I do not share your patience (or is it fatalism?).
  15. Agreed, but the larger issue is why O'Shea cannot or will not address what to many is a glaring problem that is hamstringing the team and has for years now.
  16. Not when he was here. If O'Shea suddenly wanted to replace Medlock with a home-grown, I'm sure Felix Menard is available. Ottawa sure did well with their new Canuck kicker.
  17. I think you are in the minority in your assessment of the talent on the team's receivers. They are not the best group of pass-catchers in the league, but they are not the worst by far, and better than last year's group. If Washington replaced Lankford, we would move up a notch or two. Or even if we just got ride of Lankford and platooned the receiver position.
  18. There is a kernel of truth in what was said. Many Bomber fans were ecstatic over the three-game winning streak but there were those who were cautious because the Bombers beat up on the weak sisters of the league. What concerned me was the second game against the Lions where the Bombers stormed out to a lead only to have it evaporated as Wally and Co. adjusted and the Bombers went status quo. It was a replay of many games over Hall's tenure as DC but O'Shea does not escape blame either.
  19. I do not think that you will hear anything of substance on OB tonight or any other coaches' show. It is 90% commercials with a few cliches and generalities sprinkled in.
  20. You neglected to mention the pathetic effort from the defensive part of the team. As much as Nichols was not as good as he ought to have been, if he was on the field longer, that may have altered the outcome, even if the Bombers still lost. And it is not for nothing that the coaches will be blamed.
