  1. The judge who sentenced Roger Stone to prison orders Trump administration to turn over Ukraine emails The Trump administration has refused to publicly release 20 emails pertaining to withheld military aid to Ukraine ALEX HENDERSON MAY 14, 2020 3:18PM (UTC) The Trump Administration has been refusing to publicly release 20 e-mails pertaining to President Donald Trump's decision to withhold military aid to Ukraine in 2019, insisting that executive privilege protects them from having to do so. But Amy Berman Jackson, the federal judge and Barack Obama appointee who sentenced Trump ally Roger Stone to three years in federal prison, disagrees — and she has ordered the Trump Administration to release the e-mails. https://www.salon.com/2020/05/14/judge-who-sentenced-roger-stone-to-prison-orders-trump-administration-to-turn-over-ukraine-emails_partner/
  2. Attempt to dismiss Flynn charges upended as court appoints former judge to probe possible perjury The judge will also "present arguments in opposition" of the DOJ's motion to dismiss criminal charges against Flynn IGOR DERYSH MAY 14, 2020 4:42PM (UTC) A retired federal judge has been appointed to "present arguments in opposition" of the Department of Justice's motion to dismiss criminal charges against former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn. U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan, in an extraordinary move, appointed retired judge John Gleeson to not only oppose the government's motion but also present arguments on "whether the court should issue an order to show cause why Mr. Flynn should not be held in criminal contempt for perjury." Sullivan put a hold on the Justice Department's motion to drop the charges earlier this week. https://www.salon.com/2020/05/14/attempt-to-dismiss-flynn-charges-upended-as-court-appoints-former-judge-to-probe-possible-perjury/
  3. Trump Calls for Obama to Be Hauled Before Congress for Massive Crimes He Declines to Outline “I understand President Trump’s frustration, but be careful what you wish for,” Lindsey Graham responded. Rachel Olding Breaking News Editor Updated May. 14, 2020 12:53PM ET / Published May. 14, 2020 11:56AM ET If President Donald Trump’s Twitter feed is an indication of where his head is at, his thoughts on Thursday morning were far from the 84,000 Americans that have died from COVID-19. The president’s morning obsessions included Barack Obama, a government whistleblower, his 22-0 record on congressional endorsements, and unspecified “good numbers” coming out of states that have begun to wind back pandemic-related shutdowns. In a tweet tagging Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, Trump called for former President Obama to be brought before Congress to testify about unspecified crimes that Trump thinks constitutes the biggest scandal in history. https://www.thedailybeast.com/

The Miami Herald reports that Sr. Brian Miller appealed his termination and won an arbitration ruling
  7. White House reporter says Trump’s jealous fury at Fauci finally boiled over: ‘You could see it in his body language’ Written by Travis Gettys / Raw Story May 14, 2020 President Donald Trump’s jealousy and anger toward Dr. Anthony Fauci boiled over into public view, according to a White House correspondent. Associated Press correspondent Jonathan Lemire said the president has privately been seething about his public health adviser’s positive approval ratings, and he was obviously angry that Fauci delivered bad news about the coronavirus pandemic during his testimony to Congress this week. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/white-house-reporter-says-trumps-jealous-fury-at-fauci-finally-boiled-over-you-could-see-it-in-his-body-language/
  8. Judge in Michael Flynn case throws a new curve ball — suggesting the Trump ally may have committed perjury Written by Cody Fenwick May 13, 2020 35 Judge Emmet Sullivan is clearly not happy with Attorney General Bill Barr’s handling of the Michael Flynn case. In a new order on Wednesday, Sullivan appointed retired Judge John Gleeson to step into the case and argue against the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the charges. Barr has directed the department to withdraw its criminal charge against Flynn, the former national security adviser to President Donald Trump. But many legal analysts have argued that the arguments for dropping the charges of lying to the FBI, in the face of Flynn’s guilty plea, are completely inconsistent with the department’s practices. It’s clear that Barr is carrying out his and Trump’s mission to tear down the work of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who first brought the charges against Flynn. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/judge-in-michael-flynn-case-throws-a-new-curve-ball-suggesting-the-trump-ally-may-have-committed-perjury/ ADVERTISING
  9. As predicted by many, Trump is going to go full monty as it becomes increasingly clear that he is losing electoral support, as well as the support of the sane GOP who realize that he is leading a parade over a cliff. His outbursts will become wilder and more frequent.
  10. Nothing new here. Thatcher in Britain once said that she wanted a "good" crisis so that she could slash government without opposition, and junior Bush said pretty much the same thing. Its a conservative sort of thing.

  12. US faces ‘darkest winter in modern history’ unless it improves COVID-19 response: HHS whistleblower Written by Brad Reed / Raw Story May 13, 2020 A key federal health official will deliver a stark warning to lawmakers this week about the risks America faces if its response to COVID-19 are not improved. CNN reports that Dr. Richard Bright, who was ousted last month from his position as the head of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, plans to testify on Thursday that America will face its “darkest winter in modern history” without further measures to improve the government’s ability to test and trace people infected with COVID-19. “Our window of opportunity is closing,” Bright will say, as reported by CNN. “If we fail to develop a national coordinated response, based in science, I fear the pandemic will get far worse and be prolonged, causing unprecedented illness and fatalities. Without clear planning and implementation of the steps that I and other experts have outlined, 2020 will be darkest winter in modern history.” https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/us-faces-darkest-winter-in-modern-history-unless-it-improves-covid-19-response-hhs-whistleblower/

  17. Howard Stern: Trump ‘despises’ his own voters and would be ‘disgusted' President Donald Trump wasn’t always a far-right Republican and an ally of the Christian Right. The Trump of the 1980s and 1990s was more of a center-right Blue Dog Democrat, and in 2004, he told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that “the economy does better under the Democrats” than it does under Republicans. Regardless, Trump has remade himself as the GOP’s leading far-right culture warrior. And according to shock jock Howard Stern, Trump’s base are the type of people he “despises the most.” Stern has known Trump for many years and interviewed him on his radio show (which now airs on SiriusXM) in the past. The New York Daily News reports that Stern recently told listeners that Trump would be “disgusted” by the type of voters who now support him.
  18. Leaked White House data shows infections spiking more than 1,000% in rural areas that backed Trump Trump claims cases are falling everywhere. An unreleased task force report shows massive spikes in the heartland IGOR DERYSH MAY 12, 2020 9:49PM (UTC) A leaked unreleased White House coronavirus task force report showing cases spiking in areas across the country has undercut President Donald Trump's claim that cases are declining across the nation. "You know, the numbers are coming down very rapidly all throughout the country, by the way," Trump declared at a Monday news conference. "There may be one exception, but all throughout the country, the numbers are coming down rapidly." This is, of course, not true. Though cases are decreasing in 14 states, they are rising in nine states, according to The New York Times. A lack of widespread testing in 27 other states, plus Washington and Puerto Rico, suggests that cases in those areas are being undercounted. But a leaked coronavirus task force report obtained by NBC News shows that some parts of the country — rural counties in Tennessee and Kansas — have seen cases balloon by more than 1,000% in a matter of one week. Other counties in Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin saw increases of more than 400%. Dr. John Ross, a professor at Harvard Medical School, pointed out that all but one of the top 10 counties that saw the largest increases voted for President Donald Trump in 2016. https://www.salon.com/2020/05/12/leaked-white-house-data-shows-infections-spiking-more-than-1000-in-rural-areas-that-backed-trump/
  19. Apparently the $30 million the CFL asked for was to cover operational costs- management, coaches, office costs and scouting. The larger request was to provide at least some income during the closures. I would think that it would make sense for the league to offer all Canadian players and import players who reside in Canada the league minimum salary on a monthly basis until things open up again.
  20. Team Trump Pushes CDC to Revise Down Its COVID Death Counts The president and members of his task force are skeptical of the numbers and want the methodology changed. Erin Banco National Security Reporter Asawin Suebsaeng White House Reporter Updated May. 13, 2020 9:52AM ET / Published May. 13, 2020 3:53AM ET President Donald Trump and members of his coronavirus task force are pushing officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to change how the agency works with states to count coronavirus-related deaths. And they’re pushing for revisions that could lead to far fewer deaths being counted than originally reported, according to five administration officials working on the government’s response to the pandemic. https://www.thedailybeast.com/team-trump-pushes-cdc-to-dial-down-covid-death-counts
