  1. The point is that the Trump strategy is to try to portray the election results as biased and illegal, even if there is no proof. By raising groundless concerns again and again, the intent is that it will look bad enough that the Republican legislators in Arizona, Pensylvania and Wisconsin will have an excuse to declare the results invalid and appoint their own who would cast their votes for Trump. Ugly but potentially effective.
  2. SILENCING : U.S. Deports Women Who Allege Detention Center Doctor Coerced Them Into Unwanted Surgery, Says Report Jamie Ross Reuters Reporter In September, a whistleblower nurse went public with shocking allegations that a doctor at a Georgia detention center coerced women into undergoing unnecessary gynecological procedures (sterilization) without their consent. Now, according to some of those women’s lawyers, the Trump administration is trying to deport them.

  4. Barr Orders Investigation of Election It was a memo so outrageous, it caused a top Justice Department official to quit on the spot. But for Donald Trump’s dwindling band of loyalists at the White House, it still wasn’t enough. On Monday, Attorney General Bill Barr “authorized” Justice officials to investigate allegations of voter irregularities. But his memo doing so practically admitted there was little-to-no evidence for any such election fraud. “A nationwide call smacks of desperation,” a prosecutor told The Daily Beast. “They’re looking far and wide because they don’t have anything specific. If you had good evidence of fraud in Pennsylvania, or Georgia, you would focus there. DOJ hasn’t lent itself so far to any of the pending [Trump campaign] claims yet, indicating that nothing they’ve seen so far has a shred of merit they’re willing to tie themselves to.” But the prosecutor said the memo could do real damage by its authorization of “overt investigative steps.” That means “encouraging prosecutors to do things that the public will notice,” throwing “red meat to the stop-the-steal base over the coming weeks even if doing nothing to change the outcome.” At a minimum, Barr’s memo “lends further legitimacy to Trump’s attack on the results of the election,” the prosecutor continued, “That’s all bad for getting Americans to trust their democracy and respect the results of the election.”
  5. There is more reason for concern in the US election today. William Kristol, longtime GOP supporter who has been willing to countenance almost everything through the GW Bush era and for the past few years of Trump's reign has seen enough and is openly calling for Repulicans to both denounce Trump's recent actions and accept the results of the election. He sees that Trump's cult of senators and congressmen are trying to undermine the public's trust in the electoral process by reiterating the baseless claims of election fraud while pressuring state Republican governors to ignore the election results and override them by directly appointing their own, malleable electors to provide victory for Trump. The Never Trump conservative discusses a concern that some Trump critics have been raising: what if Republican officials in individual states that Biden won refuse to accept the election results? Kristol writes, "Are we 100 percent certain this doesn't soften the ground enough so that what seems almost unthinkable now becomes thinkable? Are we 100 percent certain the state legislature in, say, Georgia, won't start considering things that now seem outside the realm of the possible? And if the unthinkable actually happens in Georgia, are we certain that it could not then happen in Wisconsin? And Pennsylvania?"
  6. God help America if it comes down to having the military forcibly remove Trump from the White House. Getting the military to intervene in civilian affairs would signal to the world that the US has officially become a banana republic and it would set an incredibly dangerous precedent. If it comes to that, that ought to be the job of the Secret Service- they are tasked with keeping the president and White House safe, and at some point, Trump would no longer be the president. Biden ought to be able to order the arrest of Trump and anyone else who has refused to leave. I suspect that this would trigger violent protests, but sometimes these things are inevitable.
  7. I would bet it is the degree of inappropriate direction from the White House to the judiciary, and law enforcement.
  8. Business as usual at the Vatican.
  9. Trump and his sycophants will not respond to logic or legal requirements. He, and by extension, his acolytes are operating from a misture of rage and fear- a potent combination that allows for NO compromise. Besides, if Trump decamps, they are then exposed to criminal prosecution.
  10. Sounds like a perfect pick for Trump, and thoroughly frightening in its rabidity. If Graham wants a culpable person, he should start at 1600 Pensylvania Ave. in Washington- there;s a lot of them there. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
  11. MAGA Maniacs Have Trump’s D.C. Hotel Booked Solid for His Inauguration. Donald Trump may have lost the election, but it’s not over for his faithful followers, apparently—there’s not a room to be had at his D.C. hotel between Jan. 16 and 21. Given the actual election results, you could expect the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., to stand all but empty on Inauguration Day, like some political version of The Shining. The halls should be deserted, as if haunted by a maniacal figure announcing, “Here’s Donnie!!!” After all, you would think that not even the most fervent deniers of President Trump’s defeat would check in there come January really thinking their guy and not Joe Biden will be inaugurated.
  12. Nice to see that there are still civil servants who live by a set of ethics. It is to be hoped that others in this administration will follow suit and curtain Trump's intent to cripple the government in a scorched earth retreat. Live like a jackhole, die like a jackhole.

  14. Have been on Primus for a couple fo years now. Their rate is $49.00 per month with 25-29 MBS with good technical support, but do NOT take their VOIP phone service- it is terrible.
  15. Palliser and his government started the response to COVID well, and basked in the approbation from that. Now, they have lost the control and are down to knee-jerk reactions in putting out fires. The crises in Parkview and Maples care facilities should never been allowed to get this bad and were preventable.
  16. As was reported here prior, Fox news is backing away from Trump as if he had farted at a party.
  17. From most reports, Trump has instructed his flunkies to not participate in any transfer of power negotiations with the Biden people. Some of this is probably ego and spite, but the concensus is that it is all about providing an exit ramp for Trump so that he can leave with assurances of immunity from prosecution, much as Nixon did in the name of "national reconcilliation". I have no doubt that if Trump can secure this immunity, he will gladly throw everyone else under the bus. If I were Barr and Juliani, to name a few, I would be real worried.
  18. And that will be a Good Thing.
  19. Donald Trump Jr.’s Bizarre Electoral Map Had Canada Going Republican Don Jr. claimed Canada — which is definitely not part of this election — would go to his father. By Mel Woods As U.S. presidential election results roll in, we’re all spending a lot of time looking at maps featuring various shades of red and blue to designate who’s ahead — Republican candidate Donald Trump or Democratic candidate Joe Biden. While election night is expected to be a long one — and may even extend into subsequent days as mail-in ballots are counted — Trump’s son Don. Jr. shared his own map forecast Tuesday and it was … certainly something.
  20. ‘Vote Fraud’ Witness at Rudy Giuliani’s Four Seasons Total Landscaping Presser Is a Convicted Sex Offender Perennial NJ candidate Daryl Brooks, who claimed he served as a Pennsylvania poll watcher, was convicted after he allegedly exposed himself in front of two young girls in Trenton. During the now-infamous Saturday Trump campaign press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Northeast Philadelphia, Rudy Giuliani called upon three witnesses who he said could prove voting fraud in the presidential election. The first witness was a convicted sex offender who has been a consistently unsuccessful candidate in New Jersey for several years, as first reported by Politico.

  22. An Arkansas police chief was forced to resign over the weekend after threatening Democrats on the right-wing social media site Parler. The posts, first reported by CNN, were confirmed on Saturday by the mayor of Marshall, Arkansas, according to The Kansas City Star. The police chief, Lang Holland, handed in his resignation the same day. “Death to all Marxist Democrats,” Holland posted, imploring readers to harass and assault Democrats. “Take no prisoners, leave no survivors!” He then posted a QAnon-linked meme about re-fighting the Revolutionary War. “The city of Marshall strongly condemns the actions of Mr. Holland in his posts to social media,” Marshall mayor Kevin Elliott said. “The Marshall community does not in any way support or condone bullying or threats of violence to anyone of any political persuasion! We condemn it!”
