  1. As imperfect as Winnipeg and Canada are, any black American player who is looking to raise a child in that poisoned miasma that is the current American culture has to be scared.
  2. Ex-FBI official slams Bill Barr for ignoring the right-wing ‘Boogaloo Bois’ infiltrating protests Attorney General Bill Barr was slammed by the former assistant director for counterintelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Saturday for misleading Americans about the source of violence at the protests over the killing of George Floyd while in police custody. “There’s evidence developing, Brian, that the organization we’re seeing of the most violent protesters is coming from a couple of disturbing places,” both, by the way, there’s disparate in terms in being from the right or the left. here’s what those who monitor these groups and sites are seeing. We’re seeing a far-right group, one group for example known as the Boogaloo Bois, who on their private Facebook page and social media outlets are calling for violence, calling for people to show up,” Frank Figliuzzi told MSNBC’s Brian Williams. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/ex-fbi-official-slams-bill-barr-for-ignoring-the-right-wing-boogaloo-bois-infiltrating-protests/
  3. Illinois governor immediately confronted Trump over his ‘inflammatory’ rhetoric during call In leaked audio obtained by CNN, President Donald Trump can be heard lambasting governors during a teleconference call on Monday — slamming them as “weak” for not doing more to bring protestors under control and not encouraging more arrests. Trump stressed that he wanted governors to “dominate” protestors. But Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker did not take it lying down. https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/illinois-governor-immediately-confronted-trump-over-his-inflammatory-rhetoric-during-call/ (Sound like Trump is displacing his bedroom fantasies here)
  4. This has been brewing for a while. Police forces in the US have been buying and have been given military equipment designed for urban warfare and the reality is that there has never been a weapon that was designed but never used. Thus many police forces have had this equipment and some officers have been itching to use it, and the black people know exactly who it was meant for, ramping up their anxiety and reactiveness. By comparison, about 25 years ago, Scotland Yard police management in London were preparing to issue sidearms to the Bobbies, but the police overwhelmingly rejected this, threatening to go on strike if necessary to make their point. They believed that carrying firearms would create an atmosphere that would make them more at risk and, most importantly, distort the relationship they had with the public. The management backed down.
  5. It has been said that the reason that America has become so polarized is that between Faux News, the GOP and now Trump, the neo-fascists and racists have become comfortable in coming out into the light. The mainstream media is not blameless. They have bent over backwards to present opposing points of view, even when one of them is as diseased as the alt-right, giving more legitimacy to who were fringe lunatics before. I cannot see how this malevolent genie can be put back in the bottle.
  6. Trump Was Reportedly Rushed To Underground Bunker For Protection During D.C. Protests Melania and Barron Trump reportedly accompanied him. As anti-racist protests continued for a fourth night in Washington, D.C., the Secret Service rushed President Donald Trump to an underground bunker, according to a number of media reports. Trump and his family were never in any real danger on Friday when they were relocated but the incident rattled them, sources told The New York Times, which was the first news outlet to report the extraordinary safety measure. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/donald-trump-bunker-george-floyd-protests_n_5ed47035c5b6d9860129333f (Trump flaunts his courage)
  7. On Fox News, McEnany claims Trump hasn't delivered Oval Office address about Floyd because of Antifa "A national Oval Office address is not going to stop Antifa,” McEnany says. “What’s going to stop Antifa is action" White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Monday blamed Antifa for President Donald Trump's refusal to give an Oval Office address to the nation in the wake of George Floyd's apparent killing by Minneapolis police. https://www.salon.com/2020/06/01/on-fox-news-mcenany-claims-trump-hasnt-delivered-oval-office-address-about-floyd-because-of-antifa_partner/
  8. The Pastor Who Called Trump's White House ‘Holy Ground’ Is Raking in the Bucks ‘IN THE NAME OF JESUS’ When Trump told her he was running for president and wanted her to be his “bridge” to the Christian right, she introduced him to 30 or 40 pastors at a time. The One Voice Prayer Movement launched out of the White House a year ago by Pastor Paula White is a case study in how to leverage religious connections for political gain. Appointed special adviser to the Office of Faith and Opportunity initiative by President Trump, White is mobilizing religious-right leaders to promote Trump’s Reopen America message and defend his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. White’s supporters see her as an agent sent by God to ensure Trump’s re-election, and she claims to have had a “divine encounter” at the White House that gave her “every authority to declare the White House as holy ground because I was standing there and where I stand is holy.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/pastor-paula-white-who-called-trumps-white-house-holy-ground-is-raking-in-the-bucks?ref=home
  9. Trump tells mayors and governors ‘most of you are weak’ during teleconference ‘rant’ about unrest: ‘You have to dominate’ President Donald Trump scolded the nation’s mayors and governors for the unrest in the wake of several deaths of unarmed Black people by police and “wannabe police.” Speaking on a conference call, Trump told the group, “the only time it’s successful is when you’re weak and most of you are weak.” He went on to tell the group that they must start arresting people or protesters will “run over you.” “You have to dominate, if you don’t dominate you’re wasting your time. They’re going to run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks. You have to dominate,” Trump said. He reportedly went on to call them “fools.” (Trump has certainly mastered the art of diplomacy)
  10. It appears that you are correct and I was wrong. Thank you for the correction but the point still stands.
  11. There has been and is discrimination against Canadian first nations, but I see no evidence that there have been the type of incidents where police have been killing and assaulting unarmed first nations people on the scale of what is happening in the US. I do not condone violence, by the police or others, but there comes a point where, if peaceful means of protest gain nothing and the killings and assaults go on, reactive violence is predictable and almost inevitable.
  12. Reports indicate that Erik Prince of Blackwater mercenary fame is recruiting people to infiltrate liberal groups. Wonder who is paying for that?
  13. You seek to equate the Salem witch trials with the violence done to American blacks within memory. There is a saying, "What's past is prologue" .
  14. If you cannot see that what happened to George Floyd and so many other backs in the US as lethal violence against innocent people, I do not know how to respond to that. I do not condone violence against the innocent but I can certainly understand it, and see it as an inevitable outcome of many decades of oppression.
  15. Bad analogy. Not even close to equivalent.
  16. Trump Tweets QAnon Conspiracy Theory Message Amid Unrest President Trump reposted a message amid national unrest on Sunday expressing support for the pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy theory, a movement the FBI considers a potential domestic terror threat. In his tweet, Trump quote-tweeted a May 30 tweet from “Sean Cordicon,” a QAnon conspiracy theory promoter. Cordicon’s tweet included a Trump rally highlight reel and a message to his audience that they are “the calm before, during, & after the storm.” Cordicon’s tweet appears to be a reference to “The Storm,” a QAnon concept that imagines Trump and the military suddenly arresting and either executing or imprisoning top Democrats. Trump responded to the tweet with a one-word message of his own: “STRENGTH!”
  17. As an example of American "Justice"- this 14 year old boy was executed for allegedly raping a white woman in the 50's. He was exonerated almost 70 years later when the "victim" on her deathbed recanted. The only evidence was her statement.
  18. If your group are being killed and it goes on and on, you may change your mind. The police too often see killing or the threat of death as the first option when dealing with minorities in the US. Their typical excuse is that they felt threatened and used deadly force, and the courts have almost without exception have supported this. Case in point: recently, police pulled over a black family. The male driver stated that he had a firearm and was ordered to produce his licence, which he was required to carry. He reached for the licence and the officer panicked and shot him several times, killing him in front of his wife and daughter. The officers then handcuffed the wife and daughter and kept them in the car with their dead husband/dad. The officer's defence was that he felt threatened and was acquitted. If you think of it, an officer who is supposed to be trained to respond properly in a crisis situation can kill with impunity, how can a civilian when threatened respond perfectly? After a while, if you are a member of that group, you have to assume that you will be targeted at almost any interaction.
  19. Interesting that you think that clothing is grounds for assault. If you think that the auto industry is Detroit is still producing vehicles in the same quantities as in the 60's, you are dead wrong. When peaceful demonstrations do not produce any improvement, and the illegal killing of blacks goes on, then violence becomes the only option.
  20. The context of a curfew is NOT open to interpretation. The people who were shot at were obeying the law and the conflict was started by the police who illegally demanded that people go indoors for no reason except that they were filming the police. If the police are not obligated to obey the law, then who is? Conflating the urban blight of Detroit's current situation is a false equivalency. Detroit is in a major recession not because of the actions of the people, it is because the Big Three automakers in arrogance refused to produce vehicles that people wanted to buy and went broke following the dictum said by Pete Estes, the president of GM, "What's good for GM is good for America". An NBC news crew with cameras and credentials fully displayed were 500 feet away from any conflict and were still fired on by police. So was a CBC news crew.
  21. Come on now. If you were really a diehard fan, you would have discovered what a Foley catheter is by now.
  22. You have missed the point. These people were filming the police who were coming down a street which was not in turmoil, and the people were not ordered by the mayor or governor to stay indoors. The order was for them to stay off the streets, which they were. There was not the legal nor the situational requirement for them to hide indoors. The police were not acting within the law and therefore were committing a felony-assault.
  23. ‘Light ’em up’: Police open fire on Minneapolis residents filming them from their front porches Video reportedly taken from the Wittier neighborhood of Minneapolis on Saturday shows authorities shooting projectiles upon people filming them from a front porch. On Friday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey imposed a curfew on the city, but his emergency order did not apply to citizens’ homes or front porches. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/light-em-up-police-open-fire-on-minneapolis-residents-filming-them-from-their-front-porches/
  24. Video shows Seattle cop with knee on neck of George Floyd protestor In a video posted to Twitter, a Seattle police officer was caught placing his knee on the neck and head of a George Floyd protester in much the same manner that led to the death of the Minneapolis man that has led to the nationwide protest. In the video, the man, clad in a bright orange sweatshirt, is forced to the ground by two police officers who are seen holding down as they put restraints on him. During the incident, one officer uses his knee to hold the man down, causing onlookers to yell at the cops, “Get your f*cking knee of his neck!” as the man begged for help. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/video-shows-seattle-cop-with-knee-on-neck-of-george-floyd-protestor/
  25. ‘Rogue agency’: US Border Patrol denounced for using predator drone to spy on Minneapolis protests Civil liberties advocates sounded the alarm Friday after reporting indicated Customs and Border Protection has been flying an unmanned Predator drone over Minneapolis as the city continues to roil with protest over the police killing of George Floyd earlier this week “This is what happens when leaders sign blank check after blank check to militarize police, CBP, etc while letting violence go unchecked,” tweeted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). “We need answers. And we need to defund.” https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/rogue-agency-us-border-patrol-denounced-for-using-predator-drone-to-spy-on-minneapolis-protests/
