  4. They are following Ronald Reagan (the FBI informer) who said that he wanted to shrink government to a size so small that he could then drown it in a bathrtub. Businesses abhor any restriction that might interfere with their ability to make money regardless of any damage to anyone or anything.

  6. GOP Crusade Against Abortion Could Lead To Contraception Bans With Roe v. Wade on the chopping block, Republicans have increasingly been speaking up about other Supreme Court cases they don’t like. After all, with conservatives possessing a 6-3 majority, why not make a wish list? One of the cases that’s coming up is Griswold v. Connecticut, the 1965 decision that said married couples have a right to contraception access. It struck down a Connecticut law that outlawed the use of birth control devices. Griswold was a landmark case, ruling against Connecticut on the basis of a married couple’s right to privacy. It set the stage for future decisions ensuring contraception access for unmarried couples, same-sex marriage rights and, of course, abortion access in Roe v. Wade. Many Republicans abhor Griswold precisely because it is the foundation for so many other decisions. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) recently said it was “constitutionally unsound.” Arizona GOP Senate candidate Blake Masters’ campaign website said he would only support judges “who understand that Roe and Griswold and Casey were wrongly decided, and that there is no constitutional right to abortion.” In February, Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Jeff Bartos called Griswold a “terrible decision.” That same month, Matt DePerno, the Republican nominee for Michigan attorney general, said, “Listen, all these cases that deal — Griswold, Roe v. Wade, Dobbs — these are all state right issues. ... It’s going to be a state right issue on all of these things — as it should be!” Masters has clarified that he does not favor banning contraceptives. But if Republicans get what they want ― an overturning of Griswold ― it would kick the issue back to the states and open the door to restrictions or bans on birth control methods, because there would be no federal guarantee of access. Griswold will not be overturned imminently. Even Amy Coney Barrett admitted as much during her confirmation hearings in 2020, saying, “I think that Griswold is very, very, very, very, very, very unlikely to go anywhere.” But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. After all, very few people believed Roe would be overturned too. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/republicans-supreme-court-contraception_n_627ab11fe4b046ad0d829a0a
  7. But have you been turned into a zombie?
  8. A vote would have been democratic, and that would not sit well with the Harper regime. The Americans tried repeatedly to attack the Wheat Board through GATT and NAFTA, losing all times, so they had Harper do it for them.
  9. Hydro is being starved to death. Hydro has been hamstrung in updating critical equipment since the start of the Pallister regime. It is a parallel to what has been done to our medicare system. Do not assume that just because a government action would be disastrous for a PC party, they will not do it. The MTS example is a prime example. To them, dogma is often more important that re-election as they expect to be personally rewarded later.
  10. Fugitive Alabama Prisoner Arrested, Corrections Officer Dead After Chase Vicky White and Casey White disappeared in April during what was supposed to be a trip to the courthouse. By Ryan Grenoble May. 9, 2022, 06:17 PM EDT | Updated 12 hours ago An Al An Alabama corrections official has died and an inmate she was believed to have helped escape was taken into custody after the duo went missing in late April. The truck was wrecked during the pursuit. Casey White surrendered and Vicky White was transported to a hospital for treatment after a self-inflicted gunshot wound, reports CNN. She died later on Monday.
  11. UCP MLA Brian Jean said Monday that he has filed a complaint with Elections Alberta after his team discovered eight credit cards were used to purchase more than 4,619 memberships to the party. When asked how he found the information, Jean says he discovered the situation by "digging." "We know now that there were more than 4,000 memberships that were purchased under very dubious circumstances and the only team that could buy them under those circumstances was Jason Kenney's team," the MLA for Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche said. "Our understanding is that multiple parties made complaints with Elections Alberta in relation to this and we understand they're investigating it." UCP says report of member receiving 2 leadership vote ballots ‘not a concern’ In a statement, Elections Alberta said it is "unable to comment about allegations that we may or may not have received, or investigations that we may or may not be conducting." Government House Leader Jason Nixon said Monday that the UCP was "not aware" of an investigation, but noted that bulk purchasing of memberships is "standard process," that Jean would likely have used himself.
  12. None of these names jump out as sure things- dark horses as best and probably training camp faces.
  13. if you accept the usual statistics, that for every dead military personnel, there are 4-6 disabled, that would mean that almost half of the Russian standing army is hors de combat. The Russian army is sending conscription notices out to men of service age. but with the casualties already suffered and the tremendous losses in equipment, the new draftees are likely to be rushed into the front lines with little or no training and poor equipment. This is a recipe for slaughter. In the Viet Nam war, 25% of officer fatalities were at the hands of their troops, and this is likely to be even higher for the unfortunate Russian officers. The Ukrainian army have today picked off their 60th colonel, so there will be a lot of skittish Russian officers. The Ukrainian military is being very guarded about this, but a few weeks ago, I read a retired British intelligence officer's estimate that for every Ukrainian casualty there were 6-8 Russian ones, so you can estimate that the Ukrainian losses have been about 5,000, but the civilian deaths have been about 10 times that.

  15. 'Your body is mine': Video shows anti-abortion activists telling pro-choice protestors 'not your choice, not your body' Countless thousands of Americans supporting and defending a woman’s right to choose an abortion protesting what is expected to be a Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, after a draft opinion was leaked a week ago. A video posted Saturday appears to show several anti-abortion activists standing on the steps of a New York City church telling people protesting in support of abortion as a constitutional civil right, “You have no choice. Not your choice, not your body, your body is mine.” Captions on the video attribute those remarks to “FDNY,” the New York City Fire Dept., but that has not been confirmed. The leader of the group is wearing what appears to be an FDNY patch on his pullover, and an “America First” cap. America First is the name of the group headed by Nick Fuentes, who has been called a white nationalist and a white supremacist. “Not the church, not the state, the people must decide their fate,” the pro-choice protestors chant in the video, which has gone viral over the weekend. “I am the people,” the anti-choice activist, pounding his chest, declares. “The people have decided, the court has decided, you lose.” “You have no choice,” he responds to their chants, gesticulating as if he were a ruler. “Not your choice, not your body, your body is mine – and you’re having my baby.” https://www.alternet.org/2022/05/pro-choice/

  19. Michael Flynn endorses 'insane' COVID-19 conspiracy theory that claims vaccines turn people into zombies Retired Army Lieutenant General and disgraced ex-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn is a notorious peddler of outlandish conspiracy theories, especially those that originate inside QAnon or spew from the pouty lips of former President Donald Trump. In particular, Flynn, a Trump-pardoned convicted felon, has focused much of his paranoia on ginning up opposition to COVID-19 vaccines and sowing doubts about the nature of SARS-COV-2. For example, Flynn has claimed that the inoculations were covertly added to salad dressings by the "Deep State" to secretly poison unsuspecting Americans. Flynn has also stated that a “global elite type of people” engineered the coronavirus pandemic to prepare the world for their next artificially-concocted outbreak, which Flynn believes "is potentially another type of virus that’s imposed on the public." Part of that scheme, Flynn maintained, was that a shadowy cabal of international powerbrokers intended to exploit the crisis as a means of stealing the 2020 election away from Trump. But on Sunday, Flynn endorsed yet another fringe – and absolutely looney – conservative delusion about COVID-19 vaccinations during an appearance on right-wing radio host Clay Clark's ReAwaken America Tour. This latest ill-begotten contention was put forth on May 1st by disinformation podcaster Jeffrey Prather. Here are the basics: Vaccines contain inactive "lipid nanoparticles" embedded with deadly "chimeric pathogens" which were genetically programmed to animate when properly triggered. The germs supposedly lying dormant include E. Coli, Ebola, Marburg – a highly fatal viral hemorrhagic fever, and brewers yeast – an ingredient added to ferment beer and bake bread. The "pathogens" will be activated when 5G towers thrice broadcast an 18 gigahertz signal for one minute. The specified frequency subsequently causes "1P36 gene deletion," turning vaccine recipients into zombies. More on that one in a moment. Clark summarized Prather's assertions and then asked Flynn to share his thoughts. "This pathogen that you just talked about; I think that there's been some great articles written about how it relates to the 5G technology that is being input basically globally," Flynn said of thoroughly debunked "alterative" research. "But my statement is that because this is a good versus evil time. It is actually one of the most consequential periods in history to be alive." Next, Clark aired a brief clip of Prather discussing his unfounded ideas, which disturbed him greatly. "That would cause you to begin to have seizures, begin to bite people, and to have problems with your frontal lobe," he declared. "It's a lot. It's heavy." https://www.alternet.org/2022/05/michael-flynn/
  20. It appears that Putin has become so paranoid about a possible coup against him that his KGB is killing off anyone who could potentially plot against him. Several powerful industrial-financial directors have died under mysterious circumstances, Another happened yesterday: The series of mysterious deaths of Russian billionaires continues. Alexander Subbotin, former top manager of Lukoil was found dead. He allegedly died from toad poison. It seems RU intelligence agencies are experimenting with other types of poison.
  21. Draft Overturning Roe v. Wade Quotes Infamous Witch Trial Judge With Long-Discredited Ideas on Rape. Justice Alito’s leaked opinion cites Sir Matthew Hale, a 17th-century jurist who conceived the notion that husbands can’t be prosecuted for raping their wives, who sentenced women to death as “witches,” and whose misogyny stood out even in his time. When U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, in a draft opinion obtained and published this week by Politico, detailed his justifications for overturning Roe v. Wade, he invoked a surprising name given the case’s subject. In writing about abortion, a matter inextricably tied to a woman’s control over her body, Alito chose to quote from Sir Matthew Hale, a 17th-century English jurist whose writings and reasonings have caused enduring damage to women for hundreds of years. The so-called marital rape exemption — the legal notion that a married woman cannot be raped by her husband — traces to Hale. So does a long-used instruction to jurors to be skeptical of reports of rape. So, in a way, do the infamous Salem witch trials, in which women (and some men) were hanged on or near Gallows Hill. Hale’s influence in the United States has been on the wane since the 1970s, with one state after another abandoning his legal principles on rape. But Alito’s opinion resurrects Hale, a judge who was considered misogynistic even by his era’s notably low standards. Hale once wrote a long letter to his grandchildren, dispensing life advice, in which he veered into a screed against women, describing them as “chargeable unprofitable people” who “know the ready way to consume an estate, and to ruin a family quickly.” Hale particularly despaired of the changes he saw in young women, writing, “And now the world is altered: young gentlewomen learn to be bold” and “talk loud.” https://www.propublica.org/article/abortion-roe-wade-alito-scotus-hale
