  1. I do the same as you. Unless it's a west coast game I have to pvr it lest I incur the wrath of my family lol. And if it's a loss it gets deleted without being watched. I see no reason to put myself in a bad mood over a football game. Wait a day or two then come here and get the lowlights when I can laugh about it. And if it's a win I can savour the game, skip all the commercials and hit mute if Rod Black's doing play by play.
  2. So much for her being "a good witness"... https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/02/politics/trump-mocks-christine-blasey-ford-kavanaugh-supreme-court/index.html When it comes to Trump it's never been about politics to me. The man is just a **** human being through and through. His downfall (which sadly may never happen) cannot come soon enough.
  3. The worst part about the Gunn firing is that an absolute @#$%sack like Cernovich and his Alt-Right ilk came out winners in this. Disgusting that Disney caved to scum like that. Impressive how in the span of about two years things you posted on social media years ago went from being ignored to becoming a fireable offence. There's no way Disney/Marvel didn't see this stuff 6 years ago when they hired Gunn and they certainly couldn't have missed his apology for it back then too. It just didn't matter in 2012 I suppose.
  4. Nichols...Streveler...Harris. Damn fine players who wouldn't be nearly as effective without a monster O-line leading the way. Not taking away from the QBs or Harris of course but our O-line has been dominant so far this season. Fun to watch those boys work every game.
  5. Just a minor question in this debate...for those pointing out the crowds from Jets games that have converged at P & M from time to time, won't those crowds go to True North Square when it's up and running instead of going to P & M?
  6. New Era. If not the Jerseys at least let them make the hats. No one does it better.
  7. This sucks. He's a good special teamer and arguably plays Safety better than Loffler does when he's had to fill in. Wish him a speedy recovery.
  8. I've read that it hasn't mattered whether the asylum seekers are crossing at a proper point entry or not, thanks to Sessions' zero tolerance proclamation separation has become standard procedure for everyone. No matter how the Trump Administration tries to justify it, the visuals of cages and screaming children being dragged from their parents possibly never to be seen again (are they even keeping records of these people?) is just an awful look in general for the U.S. "it's so ingrained in those folks that you aren't going to change their minds, you just have to wait for them to die." I think you're right about that. Some people just can't move forward or even bring themselves to try. A while back me and my family were on a weeklong bus tour of western Europe. It was a mix of Canadians, Americans and some Europeans. There was one older American couple, gated community types from Ohio, on the trip. On our stop in Paris we had a guided tour in the morning of the Eiffel Tower and then had the rest of the day to explore on our own or go see a show or something else arranged by the tour. My family and I chose to do our own thing since we're comfortable traveling and figured it would be fun to figure out the Metro and inflict my terrible high school french on the locals. For some reason this older couple joined us so we went for lunch at some local restaurant. We had a fun time trying to decipher the menu (once again our french sucked) but the waitress was helpful and patient. The French have a bit of a reputation for rudeness to tourists but we found if you at least tried the locals were great to us. But this couple just clammed up, complained about the lack of english on the menu and from our server (who didn't really speak english) and just wouldn't engage. We literally had to order for them something we figured wouldn't be too offensive to their delicate palates. So we got through lunch and the couple stuck with us for a bit before pleading exhaustion and returning to the hotel. We didn't really deal much with them for the rest of the tour. I think they avoided us lol. I think about that couple every once in a while. At the time I scoffed at them thinking them to be typical arrogant Yankees wanting everything to be 'Murican wherever they go. Now I figure they had recently retired and wanted to travel a bit (or had been gifted a trip from the kids) and see the usual sites and take a pic or two of famous sites that they could frame and hang on the wall. Maybe buy a trinket or two for the grandkids back home. Nothing wrong with that. They had no interest in the actual Europeans though, or the food or the culture. Just the sites that they could point to when they were safely back in Ohio. Look the Eiffel Tower! The Louvre has nice paintings! Amsterdam has windmills! They serve Budweiser! Again nothing inherently wrong with this but odds are if you're grumbling and shaking your head at a menu in Paris you're probably the same way when you get dragged out to your local Mexican joint in Columbus Ohio. It's people like this that are a problem. Scared of change or new things. Isolated and happy to be isolated. Pine for the "good old days". And they vote every time there's an election. As you say you gotta wait out people like this.
  9. Some of the families being separated at the border are asylum seekers. That's not a crime and no laws were broken by them. Yet they suffer the same fate as the rest. Still evil. And it's being done partly to be used as a bargaining chip to get Trump his wall. Again evil. What do they stand to lose? Last I checked if a Honduran family moved in beside me and a Mexican guy was hired at my workplace it wouldn't take away anything from me anymore than if it was a white dude or a white family that moved in. Fundamentally people are people. Work a job, pay the bills, take care of your kids, cheer on the local sports team, etc. I think those scared white folk you talk about need to leave the gated neighborhood or farming community every once in a while and see that for themselves.
  10. Here's the full quote and context: Here is the full answer Trudeau gave to the question put to him four years ago, in November 2013, at a “Justin Unplugged” event. It was the event organizer, Amanda Alvaro, a public relations professional and frequent Liberal pundit on political talk shows, who asked him: ““Which nation, besides Canada, which nation’s administration do you most admire, and why?” He answered: “You know, there’s a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say ‘we need to go green fastest…we need to start investing in solar.’ I mean there is a flexibility that I know Stephen Harper must dream about of having a dictatorship that he can do everything he wanted that I find quite interesting. “But if I were to reach out and say which … which kind of administration I most admire, I think there’s something to be said right here in Canada for the way our territories are run. Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and the Yukon are done without political parties around consensus. And are much more like a municipal government. And I think there’s a lot to be said for people pulling together to try and solve issues rather than to score points off of each other. And I think we need a little more of that.” Seems like more of an argument against our current parliamentary system than going full Mao Zedong. Not one of his better responses, granted.
  11. So you're saying Trump is a conservative and not a Republican? I would dispute that. Trump is a Populist Protectionist that leans left on certain issues and hard right on others. As for my original post disputing your points, granted Trump is fighting free trade and open borders but only as it pertains to opening the American borders. He's bigly in favour of opening everyone else's borders though so I think we can split the difference there. As for Globalism Trump still is at the whim of big corporate, otherwise he would have tariffed the hell out of the Chinese. But since it was bad for business he didn't do it. Instead he goes after us, Europe and Mexicans. Easy targets that appeal to his base but will do very little in battling "globalism". Trump even wants to get back in on the TPP at the advice of corporate interests. Sounds like the same old same old to me. And as for the Arms stuff no one loves the troops more than Trump! He approved a big budget increase for them last year. So again same old same old. Aside from the mood swings and twitter temper tantrums (TTT tm B B&G lol) I guess i have to take it back, Trump is a shining example of Republican conservatism. What desires did Trump offer that other candidates didn't back in 2016? Bring back yer jobs? MAGA? Cause none of that is new. Everyone's been promising that since the 50's ended. What Trump had that the others didn't was a total lack of shame and the very impressive ability to bowl through any and all scandals revealed about him without anything sticking, so far. As much as that disgusts me it does impress me to a degree. But beyond that he brings nothing new to the table that I've seen. So what am I missing?
  12. C'mon dude. Conservatives (Republicans) love free trade and open borders hence why so many GOP senators/congressmen are giving Trump flak about his tariff stance. Globalism is great for cheap goods and big corporate bottom lines which is another hallmark of the GOP/Conservatives. And the arms industry? Are you joking with that? No one falls over themselves harder than the GOP to throw money at companies that supply their military because "We love our troops!". It's one thing to keep your promises to your base, but Trump is President. He has to work for all 300 million+ of his people, not just the 50 or so million that voted for him. (To be fair Trump isn't the only leader to ever be guilty of this, but he could at least try to hide it a little) And if you really can't see that numerous actions and statements made by Trump are racist to varying degrees then that's that I guess. I'm mostly concerned now that the giant world power directly below us and the source of most of our trade is led by a giant pissbaby who's biggest concern when it comes to us is how much he can screw us at the negotiating table so he can 100% win the trade talks. No give and take but winner takes all, which is the only way Trump thinks negotiations work. That's fine maybe for boardroom business deals but not for mutli-national treaties. And since we're so much smaller we may have to capitulate since while we need the U.S, they don't necessarily need us.
  13. Thank you Washington. Vegas now knows playoff heartbreak. You're one of us now Vegas. Welcome to the club.
  14. Uhm sure ok I guess. Terrible tragedy last fall true enough. Didn't change the fact most of us on here were hoping our hockey team would crush their hockey team. And I'd still rather they not win the cup. But they are the Team of Destiny this season apparently. Maybe it's inevitable.
  15. The WCF is too recent for me. i don't care about Washington but no way in hell do I want Vegas winning. The spite in me is very strong right now.
  16. Excellent! One of the best sci-fi shows to come out in the past few years. The book series it's based on is really good too.
  17. They're both centres. And that's all I got. ? A Perreault/Roslovic/Armia line would be just fine. But we both know Hendo will go in if Little is out. Maybe Nashville will do us a solid and put Hartnell in. ?
  18. Actually it's very logical. Three players, two spots, Armia>Roslovic>Hendricks. Put your best team on the ice. Would it have won the game for us if Roslovic had played instead of Hendricks? Can't say either way but it's the playoffs where game changes can happen on the smallest of circumstances. Nashville played Hartnell instead of Fiala, sacrificing scoring and speed for umm grit I guess? Didn't matter really since Nashville went all trap D in the 2nd period onwards but Hartnell probably is better playing that game than Fiala is. And swapping Emelin for Weber meant their third pairing D was more effective in moving the puck out of their zone. Little things that helped Nashville in the game. Maybe a Roslo/Little/Armia line would have done sweet FA in the game. Or maybe not. I'll stick my neck out and say they would have been better than Copp/Hendo/Armia was. Would have also benefited a Lowry/Tanev/Copp 4th line that could have played 10-12 solid minutes. So I won't call it a "total failure" by Maurice in his lineup choice but I will call it a gamble (based on last game's success) that didn't pay off since we really could have used Roslovic's speed and offensive skills over Hendricks and his umm grit and locker room presence. Oh well once Perreault is back this should take care of our lineup nicely. It's now a best of 3 series. We are by no means done and I think we can get it done. But it would have been nice to be up 3-1. I don't think Nashville could have overcome that.
  19. From top to bottom the Jets didn't have the energy needed to win, true enough. But maybe if the 3rd line was Ros/Little/Armia and the Lowry line was the 4th line the Jets could have actually played all four lines consistently and wore down Nashville as the game went on. Instead the Lowry line got 3rd line minutes and looked pretty worn down as the game went on, and the 4th line barely played 7 minutes. If Hendricks only plays 6 minutes and does nothing offensively and can't keep up to begin with then what's the point? If Nashville continues with this D first system we need speed and hard forechecking. And a full four line effort. Like what Nashville does. Put your best lineup in every night. And that means Roslo over Hendricks.
  20. Never said he's been great. He's done alright in forechecking and creating a few chances this playoffs. He's even been pretty good on the backcheck. Not too shabby. I didn't see the penalty but I'll take your word on it. But Roslovic's not the first Jet this playoffs to take a bad penalty. And being stuck on the 4th line with Hendricks these past few games isn't helpful. But I tend to agree with you, Armia should go in for Roslovic if he's healthy. Bigger and harder to knock off the puck and has more offensive upside. What happens if and when Kulikov is healthy? Hard to sit a healthy $4.33M cap hit but just as hard to sit Chariot at this point. Good problems to have when we're healthy.
  21. Probably Roslovic. Normally I'd say Tanev but he's our sniper now apparently lol. And when they're reunited the Copp/Lowry/Tanev line is a wrecking ball of a 4th line. Need that back. Or maybe Armia sits since Roslovic hasn't looked out of place. Tough call. Just get Perreault back and our bottom 6 is fearsome again.
  22. This. The Jets would sit back and let Ottawa do their thing for a while then suddenly figure it's time to try again and dominate them thoroughly. And then sit back again, lather rinse repeat. Very annoying game to watch. Always nice to win though. I know it's hard to get up for these final games against non playoff teams when your spot is set and you just want to avoid injuries. As long as they're ready to go for next Wednesday (or whenever Game #1 is scheduled for).
  23. Is it true the turf they used for the combine at the Convention Centre was crap? I saw some complaining on the Twitter about it over the weekend.
