I'm not against the guy, I just have not seen him offer much of anything when he is in the lineup. Would love to know what they see in him. Not saying there isn't something there it's just not obvious.
Sure. But if we are going 3 NAT receivers then he should not be front line depth. It is essential that we have a guy who can produce if that is our plan. Just a body is not good enough. No different that Jake Thomas the past few years, if we had kept him down to 8-10 snaps a game no one would be complaining but he got thrust into a starting role and became a glaring weak spot for us. Are you comfortable with Corcoran coming off the bench to be a potential starter if any of our 3 starting NATs go down. I'm not.

Totally agree. I don't understand why the hell they even capped it. Cap year one if you must, then allow teams to renegotiate the contract if they so choose.

NAT OL, or any other starting NAT, is going to make more than most IMPs at the same or similar position.
I liked Walters presser. I like how he confirmed that we will be seeing a lot of 30 front this year and that was one of the reasons he went hard after Ceresna. It seemed like this was the probability when we signed Ceresna and then JSK afterwards. I know a lot of us here don't care for 30 front, but if you got the right pieces it can be a very good defence against the passing game. Last year we just didn't have the horses. With Ceresna here, and more Lawson, we should be able to execute it at a much higher level. I think this would give Jaworski a big edge in camp for the other DE spot as well.

I don't blame Elgersma one bit. The insane NAT draftee 3 year entry level deal is a joke.

Elgersma will be here when he gets here. Not worried about that at all. He's got an agent blowing sunshine up his arse right now, so let's dial it back a bit about how he will never play here. Reality will set in, and he will come.
We can go 3 NAT receivers but there is no requirement to do so if we go 3 IMP OL. We can make ratio in other places or even use the naturalized IMP rule.

With the NFL now grabbing and sitting on a ton of NAT OL due to expanded PR sizes and eligibility, we just don't have the luxury of an all NAT OL in this league anymore. We lose the top of our draft every year to them and it takes years, in many cases, for these guys to shake loose now. Double that up with the insane 3 year entry level pay rates for draftees and you get every NAT OL who even gets a whiff of the NFL, even though they are just signed to futures contracts which translates almost to guaranteed to get cut, going and playing long odds to sit on an NFL PR. The CFL needs to drop the salary provisions on the entry level deal. We are delaying getting our draftees here because they are willing to roll the dice rather than play for peanuts.

UFL contracts mean nothing. They are optional by the player. According to 3DN he's waiting for the CFL phone to ring.

He gets pushed off his routes quite a bit, if he can make some hay winning more within the first 5 yards of scrimmage he could be a 1000 guy.

I like Walter's work this yr, and he is kinda setting the table and taking away some of the past inefficiencies...that being said, until shown different from Osh....I just cant trust yet in him doing the right thing...let alone the smartest, and you nailed it and if JSK has to take a back seat to any one of Jones and Wilson....then Osh should get and deserve all the crticism possible
I think we may see a lot of variations of the 30...Ceresna can handle "some" nose but not ideal...so hopefully we unearth a body mover/consumer
Cersena tho in a legit 30 would be a really nice piece on one end for reps, and if we have the legit nose will thrive in that part of his role...he did before already
Gonna be interesting what JY cooks up as our kind of defensive identity/base...We seem to be piling up a glut of larger bodied LB's for this camp and how they all shake out and who/what is kept is gonna be interesting

The question of who will MOS roster is legit. I am pretty stoked that Walters is bringing in guys that are legit enough to make him look foolish if he doesn't utilize them. No offense to J.Jones last year but JSK is a guy that if you keep him out of the lineup, then the HC has to draw some legit fire. If anything, it demonstrates that Walters is in control of who is getting signed again.

JSK is an excellent WIL. I am not sure why people are unhappy about this? This literally guarantees that Wilson will be a teamer. This upgrades our LBer corps big time.

So a 2 game segment is your basis of 3 QBs? You can disagree if you want but the proof is in the pudding overall. Check out all 3 guys average completion yardage and it is dink and dunk numbers. Did they have moments where they didn't look overwhelmed? Sure. We got much better outings from Dru Brown than any of those 3 ever had.

I would have agreed with you but I think that returning to more 30 front is why we paid big for Ceresna and now brought in JSK. At least that seems to be the most logical reason for what we've done in FA...and I don't mind it because we had great success with it in 2024. What you are stating is definitely possible too because JSK can be an effective blitzer. I just look at our personnel right now tho, and it just screams 30.

We ran what we could do last year because of personnel. Younger likes 30 fronts, it was the defensive system he played a lot in as an Argo. I'm not saying you are wrong, just that what we are doing seems to align with his love of 30 fronts. I would suspect our 30 fronts wouldn't exactly be the traditional 30, more of a 30 using a lot more LBer blitzes, which is one of the reasons we signed JSK in my opinion. A Lber that can blitz from depth which Jones didn't show he was particularly great at.

Absolutely no world exists where JSK is backing up Wilson, at this point of their careers he is a MUCH better LBer.

Yea...and I am of the opinion that unless a game is completely out of reach you play your starter. It's why he's paid the big bucks. In the CFL we have watched teams come back from double digit deficits in the last 2 mins of a game on many occasions. This isn't the NFL where that would be insurmountable. I don't want my coach to ever throw in the towel on a game for the sake of getting QB2 or QB3 some reps. Just my opinion.
