GCn20 got a reaction from Booch in Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news
I'm thinking the CFL would have had to reduce NAT starting roster spots. 32 extra spots for NAT players in the NFL would be a disaster for us. We would have likely lost 8-10 more of our best NATs a year.

Canadians don't count, this was one of the good things that Randy Ambrosie got the NFL to do to help the CFL. They originally were looking at including us. I knew this because there was a short blurp on TSN about it at the time. I don't think anyone in the media realized just how big a win that was for our league because it was a buried story and it deserved much more headlines.

By rule no players of American or Canadian citizenship qualify. Your blogger is incorrect.

Moore and Echols is the definition of scrap heaping. Not saying we don't need to do it, just unfortunate it has come to this.

Well, all those choices now become tough ones, and that's much better than the choices we've had lately. Good lord, we've had a choice of Corcoran or Cobb....yikes...choosing between Schoen/Wilson/Sterns is like night and day difference. Getting Mitchell and his 2 catches for 6 yards a game off the field is a no brainer so I'm not including him.

Why keep any veteran? Because the goal is to win now. You can't just throw every veteran out the door because a new kid arrives. We don't know what Wilson can do, but the coaches do. They have deemed him to be behind that veteran and therefore the most replaceable QB on our AR.

I am thinking that if we do get a fully healthy Schoen and O. Wilson back that could be real game changers too.

He is not eligible for the NFL International Player Pathway. Must be outside US/Canada passport. Doesn't matter where you played college, just passport designation.

At this point I could see Elgersma easily getting but on the Packers PR.

He needs current game film that may entice another team next year. He's a UDFA early cut with no value to STs..he's not in demand.

An early cut of a team with a poor receiving corps. That phone isn't going to ring from any other NFL team.

Lawler was a MASSIVE loss. It cannot be stated enough. Our offence looks completely different if he is here right now because he draws doubles all game or teams try match him up and he burns them. He is literally a game changer.
Hollins was available a few weeks ago. This offseason there were a ton of good receivers available We either didn`t try for them or whiffed on them all....including our own Kenny Lawler. Our current receiving corps is just some really bad GMing, Gross incompetence almost.

Exactly right. People are criticizing MOS for doing what every football coach in the history of football does week in and week out.
In order to replace veterans you have to have the players that will perform better than the veteran. Change for the sake of change is stupid.

No. It is not a disconnect, Shay/Smith are both capable of playing the WIL LBer spot in the future. Smith could even potentially be a S. What JBR is getting at is that there just aren't a ton of reps available that would be particularly suitable for rookies because our only consistent true LBer on the field is at MIKE and you don't throw rookies into the fray there until they are good and ready. WIL already is a very diminished role in our D, and you use your starter when it is only 40-50% of all defensive reps.
I know that everyone here is looking for reasons to dump on MOS, but we need to do better than grasp at straws. We are a 5-4 team, there's a lot to dislike right now and we are grousing over rookie play time, and the 51-53 spots of the roster. Why? Because it makes minor decisions seem a lot more major than what they are. If we want to talk coaching we have problems for sure, a lot of it is our coordinators.

Yes and look at how he has produced....oh wait....14.5 yds per game says we had a reason for leaving him off. Mitchell is just another really bad offseason signing by Walters...but at least he was one that made it through camp.
Got any, you know, names? Because I'm not seeing any young NAT DTs being left off the roster. I'd love for JT, Shmek, and Korny to be replaced by young NAT DT studs. Give Walters a call, the cupboards are bare. It was either him or Zack Davis from the Rifles as NAT DT insurance. Can't blame the coaches for their choice of Korny....can absolutely blame Walters for putting the coaches in a no win situation though. I know you are critical of Walters as well, just pointing out that a lot of what we are seeing stems from a very poor past 2 offseasons by our GM. In a Grey Cup hosting year, his best signing was Sterns. Let that sink in.
