Why would you think we have no one capable of playing Nose?
  2. Willy is making the same this year as he did last year. His new contract doesn't come into effect until next season. Usually extensions in the CFL come into effect immediately as the remaining contract is ripped up and renegotiated. Willy would be an exception if he's playing out his last contract. He is definitely playing under his new contract.
  3. You're ready to write Marve off after one start? In a thread earlier this week it was noted that Glenn took three years to develop before he showed positive results, same goes for Durant, Reilly and Burris. Basically yes as there are better qbs out there we can bring in than Marve. Burris spent his first year in 1997 on the Stamps PR. In 1998 he saw limited time appearing in his first game. In 1999 he got his first few starts, led the Stamps to 2 victories & looked good before being injured with a torn ACL in August that year & missing the rest of that season. Hank put up much better numbers than Marve his first start. And he showed he had a strong arm, athletic ability & accuracy. Something Marve can't do. What people aren't understanding is that a QB must have the fundamentals to play the game at the pro level. Just because some QBs took years to develop, it wasn't because of their fundamentals. They were working on their understanding of the game and ability to manage it. Durant, Reilly, Burris, Glenn, Calvillo all have one thing in common. A good accurate arm with a quick release. This is why they rose to the top. In pro sports you can't teach a player how to throw. He either knows that by now, or he's gone. Marve struggles with his accuracy, and he is a fundamentally poor thrower of the ball.
  4. Here we go with the "Anthony Calvillo" nugget about how he took years to develop. For every AC there are a hundred QBs that legitimately wash out of this league. Not all can be coddled and brought along for years waiting for them to emerge. The reason AC, and I watched his early career, lasted as long as he did was because his fundamentals were off the charts. He just struggled making his reads early in his career. Completely different story, from Marve, who has many fundamental problems with his game.
  5. No, no you don't. The Bombers wouldn't have the rights to Mulumba or Bilukidi if that were the case. I think this is the 2nd time in the last couple weeks that Kpt Krunch has made this assertion. So I will confirm your post above. CFL TEAMS HOLD THE RIGHTS OF ALL DRAFT PICKS INDEFINITELY THAT DON'T SIGN WITH THEM.

We currently have two of the biggest DTs in the league in Anderson and Collins. Both tip the scales at a hair under 300 lbs. The fact we have this beef is why we are toying with the 3-4. Not sure why there is a misconception that we don't have beef on our DL. Probably because Turner is a little undersized as a DT. Collins and Anderson are as big as they come though.
  7. Marve sucks too.
  8. The only silver lining is that we are going up against the Riders defence that is hopelessly inept vs. the run.
  9. Marve gives us a semi-chance to win because of his mobility. Sadly, he and Brohm are both hopelessly inadequate passing the ball.
  10. Yea. What is shocking me is that Brohm is still here.
  11. Davis gives us more of a chance to win than Brohm. I can confidently say that even though I've never seen him play. Glenn January at QB gives us a better chance to win than Brohm. In my lifetime of watching football, I have never seen a QB with such accuracy problems as Brohm stick around so long. Even Lefors, maybe the most inaccurate QB of all time in Winnipeg, was more accurate than Brohm.
  12. A lot. Just the terminology alone would make it impossible for him to start this week. Even starting the LDC on anything more than a skeleton playbook will be highly optimistic. He needs reps with the first team offence, and some deep immersion in the playbook. He will not have anywhere close to the full offence at his command within the next 3 weeks. It is laughable to think he could play this weekend unless we go sandlot and reduce our passing playbook to a few plays. There is zero chance he would have half the playbook at his command by this weekend.
  13. He will be a big help right now. In the future, who knows...who cares. Our season is teetering on the abyss. We needed a QB capable of winning a game.
  14. Nichols gives us a chip and a chair again. Doubt his contract is prohibitive. He has never entered the season as a starter.
  15. Please release Brohm immediately and this will be the best QBing news in a while.
  16. Great deal imo.
  17. Love it. Sorry Marve fan boys, but he sucks.
  18. Arash saying we traded for Nichols.
  19. Glenn is done for the season so I hope we didn't trade for him. Nichols? Maybe...Ray? That would be sweet. Expensive...but sweet.
  20. great news... lots of money... but I'm not sure how accurate Lawless's financial quotes usually are... Sounds about right to me. 150k would put him on par with what Hall is making with the Riders and would still be 50k a year cheaper than John Chick.
  21. Don't think it will be a huge factor, but it can't hurt.
  22. Absolutely, We may not be a contender but there is no reason to believe that we any worse than Sask or BC.
  23. I agree. We have some HUGE glaring weaknesses, but they are fixable. Except QB...come back soon Drew.
  24. What I saw vs. Calgary was an offence that was hopelessly overmatched. Marve was terrible on the few occasions he was given time, and the OL was an abomination in both run block and pass protection. Our offensive problems were definitely personnel related. When a QB can't throw accurately, or continually throws into double coverage, that is not a coaching problem. That is a player problem. When an offensive line can't get off the ball to secure their blocks, that is a personnel problem. If we are going to discuss any of our coaches getting hopelessly outcoached last game, it was Richie Hall. Play after play, the Stamps were able to isolate Rogers and Fuller in man coverage and we were burnt accordingly. I get that it's easier as fans to blame the coach than to face the stark reality that the lineup we sent out onto the field suck. I, also, get that our coaches haven't been a masterpiece either and have made some poor decisions. However, anyone thinking that our blow out losses against Calgary etc were entirely because of our scheme or poor coaching is huffing paint. We need personnel upgrades before we can even think about being competitive with the upper echelon teams of this league.
