Jamie Nye on 980/650 sports here in Saskatchewan figured Bryant Turner was still one of the 3 or 4 best D lineman in the league...figures he will catch on with another team quickly...he hopes its Saskatchewan
No offense to Jamie Nye....well I guess it's hard to say that and then follow with this but....that's the stupidest crap I've ever heard. I like Turner and think he's a baller, but top 3 or 4 DL in the league? That boy does not have a hot clue.

Gotta imagine Johnny Patrick is going to be in the running for Demond's open spot.
Yea...it's either HB or SAM imo. From what I've read he's really good in run support and is a Johnny Sears type DB. Good piece of recruiting, whether he makes the team or not. He's the type of player we should be looking at.

Dump on O'B all you want......how about our own Cracker Jack scouting department? They really solved our back up QB issue didn't they.
Are you new here? Did you miss the hundreds of posts that dump on our own scouting department? However since this is a thread dedicated to moves around the CFL, it stands to reason, that this would be the logical place to dump on another team when they make what looks to be a possible mistake in their scouting department.

How is experience not the most relevant factor in the ability to recognize football ability?
It all depends what the extent of his work will be. He could be a very valuable asset if they give him a workload suitable for a 75 year old man. However, it is not reasonable to think that he can keep up with the Murphy's and JP Jones of the CFL at his age though. His eye for talent may still be there but I would be extremely skeptical of his ability to travel and work the long days required of a full time talent scout.

Stamps just released Matt Walter...
If the price is right we should jump on that. Walter is a legit backup to Harris.

I would bet a beer token that Henoc doesn't sign anywhere soon unless it's a whopper of a contract offer.

Well if some Riderfans can predict a 12 win season for their team with that roster I gotta revise my pick to 16-2 because our team looks a lot better than theirs.

I don't remember Elliot having much of an arm.
Hence the interceptions.

All I remember is that many times on 2nd and long he would go for a three yard play and hope that blocking would carry them to the first down.
Isn't that why Joey Elliott got pissed because they never pushed the ball.
Bad example. Elliott would have thrown long on every play if given Carte blanche to do so. In fact his penchant for going off script and doing it anyway resulting in 5 interception games ended his career.

Whaaaa...Stegall was arguably one of the best all time Bomber receivers, will Harris be one of the best all time Bomber RB's? Hardly...
Laughable ass kissing LaPo....
That picture is a couple years old of a Lion fan doing this. Laplace just pointing out that the picture seems a lot more appropriate now.

I really believe if they had signed Laurent, they would have dealt Martin's rights.
Sure sounds like they had to deal someone that's for sure. Martin would have been the logical choice if they got Laurent.

That would be a horrible LB lineup. Who covers the pass? None of them?
Jesus would cover them. A faith based approach to defence.

The return of Henoc would be a story...but that is all. We won't be taking that book out of the library again.
Montreal, on the other hand, seems to have painted themselves into a corner in the French room, and it will be interesting if any of the teams from last year's tour, provide an escape route for Popp. Would be a lot of money for maybe a rental player.
I have no trouble at all with bringing him in if the Als choose to release him or would take next to nothing in trade. We could make the cap adjustments but I would not give up anything of value to trade for that contract.

was also surprised that Walters wasn't in for Watman (or if he was, and i'll try to find that out, that he wasn't in harder). obvious why we wanted him as keeping Ricky clean has become priorities 1 thru 5 of our season.
you guys seem like you're maybe two O-Line upgrades away from a very solid roster.
I, for one, am glad we didn't go after Watman. I have seen way too much unrealized potential for one lifetime on the Bombers. Watman may turn into something yet, but last year he was an absolute pylon who got beasted every game he played in. Big reason why the Riders had such terrible sack numbers last year.

I would be pissed if we traded for Henoc now. Last year was the time to show him the benjamins. He will cost multiple draft picks to whoever trades for him. Salary + draft picks make him far too expensive a purchase.

What Harris will help with most of all is finally providing us with someone that the opposing defence has to game plan against. He isn't the best runner in the CFL, he isn't the best receiver, but put them together and he becomes one of the most dangerous players to play against. When defences have to focus on shutting down one guy it keeps them from calling the shots and dictating the game plan.
Just his presence on the field eliminates a lot of the blitz. He is what we needed, an outlet for Willy when under pressure and a player that will help our offence dictate on the field versus reacting. I think people are going to see vast improvement in our sacks against numbers and are going to be celebrating how Lapo and Wylie turned the OL around. Just remember that a big part of that was the signing of Harris.

We have a stud MLB, his name is Ian Wild, unless we are going to a 3-4 D we don't need another. People forget about last years signing during the season.
I think we have a better MLBer than Wild, his name is Bass. I would be surprised, if they decide to sit Hurl, if it wasn't Bass at Mike and Wild at WIL. Wild/Bass/Leggett or Randle would be a very good LBing corps.

I missed that y'all signed Bourke - congrats
Or was it Bryant? I'll have to check the Bombers roster. Not a slight on Campbell as he is a good player, but he is not the top OT in this league. He's about middle of the pack.

We just got Capiccioti, Lawrence, Chambers, Jones, Foster, as well as several other decent signings and you think we haven't gotten better? Ok.
Not trying to brag, but it isn't true.
You guys are improved over yesterday for sure. However, you have a long way to go and a ton of holes that need filling.

I dunno. I'm not sure there is a real need for Hurl anymore or Bucknor for that matter.
You don't throw guys like that away. They are not making big money and are excellent teamers and NAT depth. I don't think we are that SMS challenged we need to start carving up our NAT roster. I would rather dump Denmark than either of these guys.

If you check out the roster on the bb.com site.
It lists 2 american RB's right now... Cotton and Catalon. Cotton is 26 and coming off an injury, Catalon is 21. I'm not sure how much Cotton is being paid but you can bet that Catalon is on the rookie contract, league minimum. That probably plays a role.
Actually, looking at the roster, I see a bunch of guys who could be let go.
In no particular order... here are the guys who i think won't be around much longer
Cotton. B Turner. Peach. Veltung. Bucknor or Hurl (not sure which one). Hurl, for how much he's being paid, and the depth at the linebacker position, i could see him going.
I'm pretty sure both Hurl and Bucknor are safe unless a big opportunity comes along down the road. (Bilikudi etc). Turner, Peach, and Anderson have all been replaced and are pretty much a sure thing for release. Veltung will have to prove his worth against the new recruits but he is not an automatic SMS casualtiy as he is on his rookie contract.

But don't be alarmed. It's a different situation we are told. They are rebuilding from being torn apart and these are all necessary "depth" signings. As opposed to us who are just complete garbage and can't build a team any other way.
Justin Capiciotti to the Riders. A REAL commitment to recruitment over there...lol.
Turner & Denmark Released

Yea...me too. Denmark is a pretty consistent 800-1000 yard guy but he is not an upper echelon receiving talent in this league.
