  1. The way we played, we're lucky we're not in 6th, but realistically, right now, with the butt-kicking fresh in my mind, I would have to rate the Bombers behind Edmonton, Sask (ugh), Calgary and maybe even behind BC. If we beat BC, we can claim 4th spot rightfully, if not, we'll be lucky to hold onto 5th place.

There is no reasonable argument that I can think of as to why we would be behind Saskatchewan. Explain.

  2. Why would you want to see Stoudermire over Dunn?

It's like bizarro world on this board today.

Because I think Dunn is a bad player who looks better because Randle is on his side of the field.

Essentially, I don't think he should even be on the team...

You are entitled to your opinion, however, I think that you will not find too many people who agree with it. I think this is more an opinion based in personal bias than in actual reality. No offense intended towards you, we all have players we have an irrational disdain for.

  3.

Bombers had 5 two and outs, doesn't look like any of them were consecutive.

Fun fact - not a single winning team last week had less two and outs than their opponent.

    Winnipeg (5) beat Toronto (4)

    Edmonton (8) beat BC (8)

    Saskatchewan (8) beat Hamilton (7)

    Calgary (4) beat Montreal (3)

I would suspect that the TOP stats are the reason for that. Have the ball more you have more chances to go 2 and out.

TOP isn't the number of possessions though.  Generally there isn't a difference in the number of possessions teams have unless there are onside kicks or turnovers on special teams.

Everyone has the same number of chances to go 2 and out in most games.

Teams do not necessarily have the same number of possessions without turnover. The difference will not be higher than two however.

  4. This made me laugh:

Regina's fire department tweeted last night that the sewage system was working at full capacity, and that residents should delay showers, baths, and even flushing toilets to prevent additional strain on the system.

People in Regina only bathe what - once a month? If that? And how many of them even have toilets?

Now I know why their new stadium will be in the shape of a giant toilet.

  5. We are already a third of the way to our win total of last season. After that abomination of a season this game was chicken soup for the soul. I don't expect every game to go like that and think this team may have a lot more similarities to the 2010 club by the end of the season, but this week's game has already provided me with more quality entertainment and excitement than the entire 2013 season.

  6.

We did not get the same weather as Regina. We had it very very easy compared to those out west. 20,000 fans braving that weather is commendable. If we had the same weather for our game there would be less than 20,000 there I promise you that.

Anywhere would have under 20K with this kind of weather.

But Saskatchewan isn't just anywhere...it's the home of the self proclaimed best fans in the league. You gotta back up that kinda claim with more than a watermelon on your head.

  7.

19285 attendance, don't care what excuse black is using, gimme a break with the "flood ravaged areas" bs. That crowd is weak. Its been raining here too.. jesus, i get it, its raining but under 20,000 is weak, rain or not.

It's true. That's why the attendance was low. They sold over 30K still.

I agree about Rotten Roddy though. Can't stand him.

Very feeble attendance for a home opener. Normally I wouldn't care but Riderfans went to great lengths to insult us about 25k. Fairweather fans I guess. Team just wins a Grey Cup and only 19k to greet them at the home opener. Sad.

  8. And for anyone who suggests that anything that happened in 2009 falls on the shoulders of someone other than Kelly, I will rain hellfire upon them.  Internet style.

and to think there were a lot of very vocal people who actually supported the crap Kelly was doing

especially on the other forum. ;)

It was dark times for those of us grounded in reality.

  9. Wouldn't bother me one bit if they gave every castoff in the league a tryout.

In fact, they should really set up a special department to do just that.  Every time a player gets cut from another team, half the people on the interwebs suggest we pick him up.  Now we can satisfy all the armchair coaches.

Just don't sign the bad ones.

And for anyone who suggests that anything that happened in 2009 falls on the shoulders of someone other than Kelly, I will rain hellfire upon them.  Internet style.

Are you suggesting that Kelly was to blame for the 2009 season. I never really thought about it like that until now. lmao

  10. Would Ottawa have first crack at some of these PR players. Or is it first team to put a claim in?

No, there is no order to who can claim someone off someone else's PR. First man up to claim him. Of course, all Calgary would do is activate him and that ends that. The smarter play might be to try and trade for him. It is obvious that Calgary will have a very hard time holding onto him over the long term.

  11. Hickman did a good job on a crap OL, but he was a pretty one dimensional DE. He struggled badly against the run, and Hamilton put up horrific numbers against the run the year he finished 2nd in the sack race. Not saying a pure pass rusher is a bad thing under certain defensive systems but he would be a below average player in an Etch defence. Since I don't see Etch going anywhere this year I would take a pass on Hickman.

  12. Pigseye, the owners losses have been underwritten for years. They knew what they were buying when they purchased a CFL team and weren't all that worried about it. The CFL has been on solid ground for the better part of a decade. The players deserve their share.

  13. Even the owners don't agree with you. At the last CFL BOG meetings in November the owners and league agreed that the players deserved an equitable share of the new TV contract. What that will be? Who knows....but I guarantee you they will not offer them a measly 200k over 4 years. That would be ludicrous....even the owners think so.

The current SMS is based off of roughly 50% of revenues. The owners and players are happy with that. Will the players get 50% of the increased revenue of the TV deal....it's doubtful, but I think 35-40% would be a number both sides would be happy with when all is said and done. That is an increase of 1 - 1.2 million dollars over a 4 year span with the bulk of it coming up front. If you don't think that's a great deal for the owners then you just simply aren't understanding how SMS numbers are arrived at.
