  1. I would hope that we don't enter the SJ Green sweepstakes. Money is needed elsewhere. I highly doubt that Dressler hits FA. No way Taman can let him go.
  2. Maybe not....but I think we are going to be in the thick of things and not just kicking the tires on him. Marty is a good player....for the right price, I'd think about him for WIL if I were the Bombers.
  3. Cornish is a very special player in this league. I would definitely rate him ahead of Reynolds. Heck...I would rate Charlie over Reynolds.
  4. I think we will re-sign Sears but lose Wild. I think Brohm gets another NFL look....as crazy as I know that sounds. I think Heenan really is available but will be hugely expensive if he is to leave Regina. I think Romby is a goner. Players I would pursue outside of the OL, are Ernest Jackson and Sam Hurl. I don't think we need a Brackenridge, but if we have the money to spend because we have come up empty in other pursuits he would be a gooder. Really is hard to say who we will target because it's hard to say how much cap room we have. I feel we will be very aggressive though.
  5. What kind of half wit team would allow holidays for their PR guy? Sounds like a second rate organization to me. Why is there no back up plan for PR for when Cameron is on vacation? Why would they go scout the senior bowl on a week they could have been announcing Hall? Don't they respect the fans wishes about knowing what's going on? I am, of course, being sarcastic.
  6. Could you imagine if the Riders lost...and I'm only including players who have suggested they will test FA, had NFL workouts, or are gone already and by no means is inclusive of all their potential losses....Picard, Heenan, Hurl, Brackenridge, and Peters. That represents 20% of their starting lineup and is likely not even close to all the players they may lose. I know Taman won't say it, the Rider fans won't admit it, but they have got to be sweating bullets in Rider land right now. This offseason has the makings to be a Titanic like offseason similar to the one we had in the mass exodus of '08.
  7. I think Kohlert is a good possession receiver. I am of the opinion that he has reached his ceiling but he is a positive contributor, Like someone else alluded to, our new Stoddard and that's a heck of a lot better than being our new Hargreaves. JFG, is a spark plug, and that's awesome. Brings grit and determination...but I have not seen anything that makes me think he is ready to make the jump to the starting lineup. Watson is probably more talented than both of them put together. If we could only get one year of him being healthy.
  8. The only way this even remotely makes sense to me is if Jasper asked for a trade, or has told Desjardins that he will take an extended look at the NFL next year and if there is no interest he will sign somewhere else.
  9. Couldn't care less when they announce it. Completely irrelevant. Several sources have indicated he is our new DC including ones in Regina. That's good enough for me.
  10. Richie Hall's defence does not give up a lot of points. It is a defence that can win championships with even a mediocre offence. I like the hire. If Hall can get a Grey Cup out of a team with an average offence then I like him as our pick.
  11. Brohm has the holy of holies working for him. He was a high draft pick. They tend to get many more looks from teams than their resume will dictate they should.
  12. Confirmed in part by Chamblin yesterday. He stated he will be doing the playcalling for the defence.
  13. That was my train of thought as well. In a draft as deep as this one we should try maximize the number of picks we have in the first 3 rounds.
  14. I personally think that Chamblin will run the defence but he knows he needs someone to work with all the rookie talent they will be bringing in on a full time basis. The Riders DC will be more of a coach then a coordinator.
  15. Two words...MEAT SHIELD It's cute how all the Rider fans are talking about what kind of defence Quick might run. I can tell you what kind it will be. The exact defensive playbook that Chamblin hands to him when he gets off the plane and tells him to learn. This may be the biggest sham hiring of the past several years in Riderland.
  16. The choice between Hall and Benevides is one of those decisions that is kind of a no lose proposition. Both are excellent football minds. I will be happy with either result. My preference is for Hall, but is based more in my own football philosophy than in merit between the two coaches.
  17. Morley got ejected in one game so that may have skewed his penalty minutes somewhat...I think it was against the Riders.. 1st in yardage, 2nd in infractions. We really shouldn't be too hard on old Morley though since our OL overall was the most penalized in the league. Kinda comes with the territory of having a crap OL. Penalties are taken when assignments are botched. As a Centre he was likely guilty of numerous penalties trying to make sure his QB wasn't killed because of others whiffing on their man.
  18. I like it, defense by committee. However, has this co-defensive coordinator approach ever been done before in the CFL? I've always assumed offense and defense as one man in charge with head coach oversight. Or is this a wish that will always stay a wish? I believe that this is a wish...that should not even be wished for. It's important that the players have one system and one guy to buy into. Can't see how two coordinators would do anything but confuse.
  19. It will be interesting to see how or if Chamblin and Chaps manage to co-exist.
  20. I think Benevides is still in the running because he doesn't necessarily want to be united with Chamblin. Lot of talk that Chamblin is not a great guy to work with. His history of changing coordinators and taking over their duties seems to back this up.
  21. This whole added value in Regina thing is just a myth created by Rider fans anyway. Not in Heenan's case, because he is a hometown boy but with other prospective players. Rider fans have created this myth that if you come to Regina there are tons of businesses that are lining up to throw cash at the players creating this huge advantage for them. The truth is that every city that cares about the CFL can offer the exact same perks through there alumni, booster, and corporate sponsors. Players in Regina make no more money off the field or have any more perks extended than in say Winnipeg or Calgary, In fact, in many cases they offer less because of a smaller market size.
  22. Having money is not nearly as important as who has the most desire to spend money. Ways can be found to fit almost any purchase under the SMS if a GM has his heart set on a player bad enough. It might mean playing ham and eggers elsewhere in the lineup but if a GM wants to spend he will spend.
