  1. Won't hear about who might be in the supplemental until after the window for declaring for the draft has closed.
  2. I like Flanders but he was recruited by BC. I guess I should explain that my definition of finding someone is when they haven't played elsewhere in the league first.
  3. Maybe....but he did produce when he was on the field....and he certainly wasn't a locker room cancer like TJH. I just find it odd, because he certainly looked like he had the goods to be a star receiver. Bet he regrets the day he left the friendly confines of Lapo's offence for an extra 5k in Edmonton. Even his last game ever, in Saskatchewan, he had a great game....was their best receiver, albeit in a playoff loss.
  4. Terrence Jeffers Harris continued to be employed in the CFL and no one took a second look at Carr. I'm not sure I understand that. Must be something behind the scenes there because if I were a GM I would have taken a look at Carr at a reduced price. He never lived up to his contract in Edm/Riders....but in his defence he wasn't given much of opportunity either.
  5. NFL workouts have been a standard practice in the final year of a players contract for many years now. As a league we MUST continue to allow guys to pursue their NFL dreams. When our scouts go to Texas to recruit a fringe ex-NFLer to come to Canada, what is our selling tactic do you think? It is that we are your last chance to prove to the NFL that you can play. It's not the 40k US we offer that sells them on hanging their hat in a butthole like Regina....that's for sure.
  6. You killed your entire Mack argument when you said RBs ad receivers are the easiest positions to find talent. Walters has been able to find no talent at either. You are also forgetting some pretty decent DL talent brought into this league by Mack.
  7. Sounds serious to me. I see nothing preposterous in the suggestion. Mack can find IMP talent as well as any scout in the CFL today. He would be a great hire in that role for MTL. Don't let him evaluate NIs, run a roster, negotiate contracts, and have him stick solely to iMP recruiting and you have a heck of a hire.
  8. I would hire Mack and Moll in a heartbeat to recruit for us. Mack and Moll knew how to recruit at a few positions that's for sure.
  9. If Senior is indeed ranked top 30 OT then he will not likely get drafted but will almost definitely get some NFL looks. Every team in the NFL will look at an OT every year...at LEAST one. Pretty sure that Senior...unless there is something about him they really don't like (size/behavior) will be brought into someone's camp.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong but should this not be the draft order for the 6 rounds, not including trades of course. 1. Toronto 2, Riders 3. Montreal 4. Hamilton 5. Edmonton 6. Winnipeg 7. BC 8. GC Loser - Calgary 9. GC Winner - Ottawa
  11. Yea...that would suck. lol
  12. CFL.ca publishes the pending FA's and to the surprise of no one except Rider fans, James Franklin is not among them. Rider Stronson's already humiliatingly plummeting credibility takes another blow.
  13. Priority one...as has been priority one since Khari got too banged up to be effective...find a top notch CFL franchise QB. Amazing that no one has done that yet. The best we've had and continue to field is mediocre. James Franklin gives Walters a chance to make up for missing the boat on several very good QBs. Will he pursue that as doggedly as he should...probably not...and we will have to build an excellent team to prop up a mediocre QB in Nichols if we want to have any shot at a championship. How does a team like Ottawa get a championship in 3 short years? Easy sign 2 franchise QBs. How does a team like Calgary manage to stay on top for so long....easy...replace a top notch franchise QB with a top notch franchise QB. How does Edmonton go from **** show to champions in two years....easy...sign Mike Reilly. This isn't rocket science and I am disappointed that the Bombers seem resigned to another year with an average at best QB.
  14. I think it's pretty clear to see that Franklin is a lot more comparable to Collaros or Reilly than to Willy. Willy had a couple of mediocre starts with brief flashes of good play before coming to the Bombers. Reilly and Collaros had both shown the ability to dominate the opposition, much like Franklin has shown. I would not be uneasy in the least handing our starting QB position to Franklin. He is a stud.
  15. There has been some considerable chatter around Edmonton that Hervey is trying to extend Franklin beyond this year.
  16. This poll is historically a joke. The questions are leading, or do not provide an option to choose that reflects your opinion. For that reason I believe the poll is a joke.
  17. I would hire Barker in a heart beat as our QB scout....but that's about it.
  18. I don't believe our QB, receiving corps, and parts of DL and Lber crew are championship calibre. Don't have to fix them all but it would be nice. I would start at QB. I'm not sold on Nichols. Does anyone here truly believe that he is a championship calibre QB.
  19. I'm glad he's healthy and I hope he remains healthy until next year so that Loffler can earhole him again.
  20. I believe he was fired with term remaining though. Unless he accepted a buy out already he cannot take a CFL job until after the Super Bowl.
  21. I could be too old school to think otherwise as well....but all I know is when Loffler rocked him I jumped out of my seat. Nicest hit all year!!
  22. No it makes perfect sense. You just aren't understanding that hard contact football, you know the way it is supposed to be played, is now politically incorrect. We have the mamby pamby media, politicians, and alarmists running around telling us how a beautifully executed text book hit like Loffler's should be eliminated from the game. Mamby pambies. I have little doubt that even though my opinion is correct from a football purist point of view, that many on here will strongly disagree with me and take issue with it. Why/ Not because they could give 2 figs about Arceneaux's melon....it's because the other night they sat down and watched the media proclaim it as barbarian and then flipped over to Netflix and watched that stupid Will Smith movie about it. That my friend is a textbook definition of it not being PC.
  23. Yep...you can't teach stupid. He'll stay in the NFL for the fatter cheque.
  24. I have a very reliable CFL source that has told me that this has nothing to do with the Grey Cup or combine. I have it on good authority that the CFL has adopted a relegation system similar to the ones seen in European soccer. Regina and Toronto will be relegated to the CIS for next year, and will be replaced by Laval and the University of Saskatchewan. Apparently, the CFL governors were unanimous in there support of keeping the competitive level of the league at it's highest. Welcome Huskies and Rouge et Or!!!
  25. They can be separate things for sure, but this clearly a case of mamby pamby PC agenda looking to take contact out of the sport of football.
