Upcoming Movies
Love me some Scorcese....but I am going to wait and see what others say about this film because it will likely just piss me off. DiCaprio in the lead as the sympathetic white man lead is enough to get my gall. Maybe I'm wrong about it and it will be a good film, but I've seen too many movies where the show is told through the eyes of a heroic white man trying to save the misunderstood heathens. Just once put an indigenous man in that role for cripes sakes. Always, like all of history, told through the eyes of a white man. Just like Dances with Wolves etc. etc. I like the awareness these movies bring to the dark history, but I sure wish they would go with the true indigenous story without the white man intermediary just once. How we actually lived it, not how it was observed by others and not making some white guy the hero in our story.

Honestly, those roles probably came very easy to them. Not much of a departure for them at all. That's what made the show so good I think. Just find a few funny young indigenous people and tell them to be themselves and relive some of the funny moments they remember. The actors had a lot of input into the crafting of their jokes, and you could see that indigenous humor shine. It's that acknowledgement that makes the show special I think. It talks about deep issues but does so just like I would with a group of my buddies, with jokes and laughter and an effort to make the best out of a bad situation.

It was just uncanny how well this was done. As someone who grew up on the reserve I could literally put a name of someone I knew to every character on that show.

Never heard of this show before but it is now going to be must watch TV for me. That's too bad. It really showed just how funny and how much indigenous people enjoy a good laugh. You won't find more laughter in a room than sitting around having a few beers with buddies on the res.

Yea...I hope not too. I want to go with dignity, although it certainly isn't anyone's fault when their body gives out I can certainly understand their frustration.

Bombers at Ottawa
He lived a very full life. It sucks that covid got him, but his last few months he was so frustrated with his physical limitations that his quality of life he wanted was unachievable and he would have been just playing out the string. I know that sounds harsh. but he really was a proud man and having to get others to wipe his bum was killing him too.

Bombers at Ottawa
My Dad was 86 when he died, and just prior to him getting sick we had convinced him it was time to live part time at the old folks home down the street from his house. The compromise was that we would keep up his yard and house and he could go home on weekends with one of us staying with him as he was really physically struggling with rheumatoid arthritis so day to day tasks such as cooking or even getting in and out of the shower he needed help with. Best we could do because he was not giving up the house, and at that age....why should he. Unfortunately, he went into St. B for some unrelated health issues and got caught up in one of the very early hospital covid outbreaks in the province and never came out. Was before they even had the vaccines.

Just search Nasty Nate on the forum search bar, was he Nasty Nate here or was he gone before MBB? At any rate a search of that moniker should reveal a plethora of urban legends about Morris from the village and the harrassment he faced from Lyle Bauer. lmao.

I am not sure what kind of dream world MBT is living in where he thinks he has NFL hope. Maybe if several teams around the NFL were to lose their entire QB stable to injury they might want an old vet presence to teach youngsters how to be pros, but even that is an extreme longshot and would never happen before the NFL season. Did Henoc use ancestral spirit guides to mediate this conversation?

Lost my mother when I was in my 20's, a very tough loss for a family. The mother is always the glue that binds. Lost my father 4 years ago, he was my hero and has kind of set my family adrift. The estate is still not settled, as my father had many holdings that were complicated by partnerships etc. and I haven't seen some of my brothers and sisters since the funeral. We are all older now, and my older siblings have their own children and grandchildren, but it sure is tough to maintain immediate family ties without a parent to anchor things down. I really feel for anyone going through the loss of a parent. It is some of the worst days/months of your life afterwards.....so let's cut Biggie and Dru a little slack around here for a few weeks if they are reeling from their losses.

He just has no clue as to when to get rid of the ball into the 2nd row.

I think they are comfortable giving him a chance. I would imagine that Walters is looking at options right now unless Rose is ready next game and we roster Daramy at returner instead. I would imagine that McCrae will see reduced time on O because of return duties. I mean he got winded running a long one back last week, they are going to have to keep him fresh for returns lol.

He definitely is. However, at least 4 of his sacks have been coverage sacks imo. That's not to diminish anything, just that he is getting to the QB after his first read and if not for stalwart coverage he may not have these sack totals. Beating your man and staying with it is still quite an accomplishment though considering one of those guys was the GOAT.

Stop the hate. Any message board that is Bombers and CFL related that has traffic is a damn good thing for our team and our league. Not sure why you are feeling threatened by any of them? People wanna talk Bombers, and that is a good thing. Some like the conversations light, breezy and moderated others want to dive deep and be able to speak more freely. There is no right or wrong.

You can bet your bottom dollar that in a 9 team league with lots of player movement each year that our coordinators are pretty damn good at changing up signals and making their plays hard to pick up pre-snap through subtle changes week in and week out.....especially in situations where we are facing a player we just released, or spent a lot of time with us. Further to that....even if we had a guy intimately familiar with the ins and outs of our play book to pass that knowledge to his new DC, and then his new DC coach everyone up on it in the span of 3 days would be pretty damn tough. Yea, I think Couture being a former centre would know a lot more of our OL tendencies than Desjarlais at OG. Also, Desjarlais would be a couple years removed from the Bombers so his memory of such things may not be as good.

Biggies game
Perhaps, opportunity was not his friend either. He was a bit of a tweener for sure.

Biggies game
Burnett was fast but was always a step behind the play because it took him a split second longer to mentally process what was happening. Unfortunate, if he would have had more football instinct he would have been a gooder.

I thought Walker played a strong game vs Calgary, but yea...we could use some DL help. Again....not on MOS. We can't just dress ham and eggers. If the guys Walters brought in aren't up to snuff there is no use keeping them. I will trust our coaches evaluation of talent and fit. If a guy is good enough they will find a way to roster or PR him. These guys were deemed expendable. Our recruiters need to find some DL that aren't. Hansen will help things out, and I am hoping we are in talks with other recruits to get them up here. Bad time of year....guys are hoping for NFL spots still.

CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
People seem to think that a play book remains static throughout the year, and it most certainly does not and most definitely changes drastically year to year. Desjarlais might be able to point out some chinks in the armour at a personnel level on the OL, things he knows certain guys struggle with more, but that's about it. Pigrome is quite literally useless to his new team, in regards to play book. We have built a ton of new plays since the insertion of McCrae that Piggy wouldn't know, and existing plays are now seeing progressions built off of them. No team runs the exact same play book all year...you can't...there is too much film.

He basically says Winnipeg, but I have friends in Saskatchewan who plied me with food and liquor so...... Desjarlais hasn't been here in two years and Piggy had a cup of coffee and couldn't figure out the SY play book. Not scared of what they may reveal. Pigrome is a physical talent, but couldn't grasp our playbook. I hope he tells them everything he knows.

Wilcotts was traded to address a need in the secondary. I don't consider that poor roster management at all. We traded Wilcotts out and got in Darby and then added DE depth from the Riders. Hansen's injury has thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into both our DL depth, and the need to keep another Global on the PR because you have to dress two globals now so one has to be on the PR pretty much. I agree we need to be looking at more DL depth though, but that's more a Walter's failure than a roster management failure. What do we do if either of the Jeffs go down, we go scrap heaping and air lifting. There are some decent DE's that are a phone call away. Just because we don't have one currently signed doesn't prohibit that as a back up plan. That is not to say there hasn't been some head scratching moves like PRing the 36 year old kicker, just that it isn't all doom and gloom because currently we don't see the options that Walters might. We are sitting here talking roster management, and yes MOS does make some odd choices at times.....I thought that keeping McRae in when Demski returned was odd. However, the game plan soon corrected my misgivings. As for DL management, you can't put that on MOS....who should he dress?

It's not abusing the rule if it's allowed. Plain and simple.

Faj versus Vaj
Dirty Sanchez talking about BC is about as objective as Milt talking about the Bombers, or Suitor about the Riders.

Neufeld hasn't been very good the past 2 games. I wonder if he is nicked up.
