From the day we signed him thread, and his nfl scout report. Go back to the riders forum and look up the posts about him. Or re watch games of his and actually watch him not the ball. A guy like him has a role on the team imop. And can have a positive impact. But in limited action and specific packages / back up on defense. He is who he is. A younger more athletic terry ray with out the savoy decision making and discipline.

I can't hear Terry Ray's name mentioned without thinking of that hit he laid on Pat Woodcock. Macho Harris wishes he could do that.  I'm no fan of Harris, I hope the emergence of Loffler keeps him out of the lineup for good.

Thing I noticed for the first time in years, is receivers   blocking for a sideline screen pass. Saw three guys out in front of one of those early on, doing an effective job.

This right here. I thought that we saw the best downfield blocking of the year from the receivers.

  3. I'd like to see a commitment to the running game tonight. Harris is clearly the best offensive talent the Bombers have and it'd be nice it Lapo found some ways to use him effectively. I'm not talking about sending him between the tackles again and again. Finding a way to get him into space with pitches and swing passes (maybe a successful screen pass God willing) would give the defence something to think about, rather than letting them send guys after Nichols all game long.

    Last 5 games at Commonwealth:

    3-32... -29
    9-41, -29, added to  -32 = -61
    7-25, -18, added to -61, = -79
    10-42, -32... added to -79, = -111
    10-24, -14, added to -111  = -125

Last 5 trips to Edmonton are 5 losses with a combined point differential of -125.  Meaning we've lost, on average, by 25 points in Edmonton over 5 years.

But hey guys, this is just game 5, right? Sorry couldn't help myself.

edit: In fact, using the CFl website, I can't even see a recorded win in Edmonton. Prior to 2004 it seems the game results aren't available.

Meaning the Calgary Flames have played in the Stanley Cup final more recently than we won in Edmonton. Holy ****.

So you're telling me that we're due?

Austin is simply a great coach. Took an up and coming talent like Collaros and made him better. Clearly made a plummer like Masoli better.

What a team can do with better minds on the sidelines than their opponents was on full display in HAM's adjustments and comeback in the second half.

I fully agree with the last sentence. The Bombers are one of the few teams in the CFL who don't have a former qb as either their HC or OC. This team has been hamstrung for years because of below average quarterbacking in terms of talent assessment as well as adjusting the game plan to get the most of whoever's playing qb that game. It has to make a difference to your in game adjustments when a person who's calling the shots has some experience with the most important positon on the field.

  6. I voted no. There's not much of a point to firing MOS mid season, all it does is force either Hall or Lapo on us as HC. Having either of those guy in that position seems like rearranging deck chairs on titanic. If the Bombers drop the next two games the the season is pretty well lost regardless of who's HC. If there are going to be job losses, I'd rather it be at the end of the season when the Bombers can actually put some thought into in and choose from a larger pool of applicants.

Why are we the only team that can't execute a screen pass!

My recollection of the last half of the game is a little foggy, but I seem to remember Harris taking a screen pass for about 30 yards (third quarter somewhere?)

Point taken though, one properly run play doesn't make up for the many poorly run ones.

  8.

    Nine linebackers too.

Looks like Veltung is getting benched for his drops last week. Cone likely won't play but he's already on the roster.

He might have to. He's the only backup receiver listed.

Well ... technically Stoudermire. But the way I see that shaping up is that Capers and Burnett would sit.

I`d like to know where this idea of Stoudermire as some kind of triple threat came from. It certainly isn`t backed up by any sort of stats/video evidence/ANYTHING TANGIBLE!! I don`t know how this guy continually stays on the roster. super frustrating

  9. If I had to choose, it's Henoc hands down. Legit impact Cdn starters are hard to find. That said, it was so nice to see the Bombers display a bit of mental toughness rather than folding in the first quarter after all those turnovers and I think a lot of that had to do with Nichols. So, like it's been said before, why not both? The Bombers definitely have enough players who are not earning their money and could be gone in the offseason to free up enough cash to get both Muamba and Nichols. Additionally, I think the potential demand for Nichols is overrated. If so many teams are after a quality backup QB, then why weren't they in on the bidding with Edm in the first place?

Read the article on why Edmonton's GM traded Nichols to Winnipeg. They traded him here so he'd get an opportunity to start, as a reward for his loyalty, perseverance, professionalism and community work in Edmonton over the past 6 years.

By opportunity to start I assume you mean for the rest of the season. If Nichols really wants to be a bonafide starter rather than a backup or 1b at best then I can't see him resigning here.

  11. Pederson makes me sick... for real.

Guy goes to hell and back to defend the riders when Lawless and the sorts speculate that Chamblin will be fired, says it BS, it won't happen. He hasn't heard it. Defends it to death really... even so much so as calling out lawless and penton and basically saying they are full of crap.

Now, in my opinion and even less connected source in Madani states it and Pederson is going off like it's the gospel.

It's just a joke really. Guy is a huge joke.

    x2

Pedersen is hands down the worst writer affiliated with a CFL team. He basically writes a fanboy blog. If (by some tiny chance) this turns out to be true, he'll trumpet how he broke the story. If it's false, then it'll be, "C'mon guys, I said it was just a rumor."

Pederson is on the Riders payroll. I'm not joking either.

....and now everything suddenly makes a lot more sense. It's not any better, it just makes sense

  13. Holy smokes, I touched a nerve on that one! I've got Irish on one side and Mennonites on the other so it was potatoes 15 times a week for me. I guess I just passed the threshold early. I'll still eat perogies and hashbrowns now and again, but it's few and far between.

Also, my comparison was not to run down Glenn. He's fine, a solid QB, and the Bombers would've won in '07 if he was healthy, but he never got me confident and excited like Willy does now.
