  1. What is the point of even bringing up Reilly anyway? Has no bearing on the current management. All they did was make offers on every available qb in the order they became available. I don't like the implication they got lucky that Willy turned out the best and was the last one they pursued, I think the reason they pursued them all was because they wanted to take luck out of the equation and make sure they got a new qb here some way, some how. So in that regard it's more being proactive than being lucky.

Exactly. We pursued them as they became available. Were we interested in all 3 ot them. Undoubtedly. If we had managed to land Collaros or Burris would we have lost out on Willy. Not necessarily. Rumors around the time of these pursuits were that we wanted one of Collaros and Burris AND Willy.

Sorry but you all are really speculating if you think Willy goes from one team as a backup to another team as a backup.

but there's merit to that speculation. Willy wanted to start, if the Bombers had signed Burris well he is old as **** and obviously not a long term solution, certainly shorter term than staying behind Durant. Contrary to the propaganda you folks buy hook line and sinker, players don't dream about playing in Regina forever.

but but but free paninis....city council jobs...real estate.... I swear, Regina is turning into that town from Friday Night Lights where the old players just hang around

  2. I despise the riders.. And i despise a certain segment of their fanbase..

I also have a very strong dislike for the province and Regina in general.. Bunk city with no oomph! So dreary and boring.. its essentially brandon in saskatchewan..

As a proud Brandonite and diehard Bomber fan, I'm sure you'll understand why I take issue with the above statement. Just because it's the "Winnipeg Blue Bombers" doesn't mean there aren't Bomber fans outside the Perimeter Hwy in Manitoba. You wanna slag the Riders and Saskatchewan, have at it. Leave my city out of it.

As a former brandonite, i will gladly say brandon was.. By far... Some of the most boring time ive spent outside of winnipeg... houstons was unbarable, every other bar was a dive or a hole in the wall, restaurants minus humptys and bp were closed at 9 or maaaaaaaaaybe 11. Other then a so so whl team and some decent university sports, what else is there? Sorry man, i tried to love brandon, i really did..

I had to go out to Brandon for a few years for school and initially I wasn't happy about it at all, but I ended up having a good time. I Liked the old Railway era downtown area, found a few decent breakfast places, and the Crystal Hotel bar was my favorite (it is a dive, but that's usually what I'm after). The people were pretty friendly and the hunting was pretty good. Houston's was unbearable though, I'll give you that.

  3. Better not kid yourselves, Winnipeg is more important than anything in SASK. Gateway to the West and all, The Forks, The CMHR, we got lots of stuff here, we are a small city that was supposed to be big, they call us Chicago Jr and if anyone has ever been to Chicago, been there once and then go to the Exchange District in Downtown ish Winnipeg, you can see the similarities in the architecture and things like that. Regina? Man, it's tiny, it's basically Brandon with more people and a football team, But besides that... What does Regina have? Maybe the better Comparison is Winnipeg to Saskatoon but even then, Winnipeg is more important to Canada lol. It just is, This isn't blind homerism because I'm from the 204, it's because it's just true, In the big picture, Winnipeg is more important than any city in SASK. We matter more. We have more people, we have bigger buildings, we have more known landmarks, we have one of the most if not the most diverse population in Canada, largest french population outside of QUEBEC is St Boniface... we have more to do here too. World class zoo and museums and pro sports teams, we got a real pro sports team, CFL is great but NHL is the big time, when we got our NHL team back, we became a major league city.. It is what it is.

So how do you gauge "more important to Canada?" Saskatchewan is ahead of Manitoba in every economic indicator that I could find. Just what is the big driver of the economy over there? Over 60% of the Man. population live in that dump. Why is that? The CMHR Museum? It has to be the most racist place in the country from everything I've read. "We are a small city that was supposed to be big." What happened there? Your time has passed a long ago. But keep living in the past, that's what you all are good at. And as for the N.H.L.... "IF" we want to go to a game, we'll travel to a real city with a real team. N.H.L. is for schmucks anyway, afaic.   1990 and counting, lol.

If it's the most racist place in the country from everything you've read, do you mind putting up some links? That's a pretty heavy accusation to throw around without some facts to back it up.

  4. I agree with the point that Grigsby doesn't get any stronger as the game goes on, and unfortunately that should be a part of any starting backs' skill set. I do like that he protects the the ball so well and his blocking has improved immensely. Seems like he's taking the handoff and running straight at the hole now rather than making the 2-3 stutter steps behind the line that we saw in the first third of the season.

I'd like to see the Bombers with more total team rushing attempts during games. Whether it's Volny, Pontbriand, or some new guy getting a few carries here and there, a hard-running back would provide a little change of pace and not force the Oline into so many pass block situations. Grigsby has gotten better in his time here, but he (and the Bombers overall rushing game) aren't good enough to finish the season as the undisputed number one RB

  5. just cut this Kuale guy already.

Just bring a legitimate MLB like McCune. Move Wild to the WIL. Kromah to backup at MLB. Sign Munoz to backup Wild.

Right, so your solution is to bring it an ancient MLB who is probably not even close to being ready to contribute as a starter when he's sat out over half a season and then on top of that, sign Damaso Munoz who for some reason is going to jump at the chance to be a backup in the CFL straight off a stint in the NFL.

In hindsight, do you think we should have signed McCune instead of Kuale? Or would it simply be a matter of the lesser of two evils?

I don't think you could get much lesser than Kuale. I've been checking twitter all day hoping to see that he was released

  6. The Riders were in coast mode in the second half and it almost cost them the game.  They lost Durant on a very late hit that wasn't called.  They tried our offensive plan of throwing deep, even though they were running all over us and they had their 2nd string QB in.

Um late hit? The play never even started but you can't throw a flag when no one hears the whistle and all the players are continuing to play.

The late hit when Durant was still holding on to the ball?

  7. after listening to the Kuale post game interview, but him now. Takes no responsibility for his bone headed plays. He is a detriment to the team.

No reason to have him here. People might talk about veteran leadership, but he doesn't even provide that. Kromah/sears/wild/sherman would be my preference

  8. Man oh man Burris just stank out loud on that final series. He's gotta own that one himself, but knowing Burris he'll likely blame everyone but himself.

This just makes me wonder (again) why on earth the RedBlacks went with him as their starter. He just doesn't seem like the guy you'd want to have in as a leader and someone to set the tone for a new, young team. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Burris and I wish him no success, but it'd be nice if Ottawa had a football team that didn't suck out loud

  9. my hands would have to be carefully loosened from the wheel if I had to drive through the mountains on snow and ice.

specially cause the locals don't seem to slow down for anything.

There are people who think that a light dusting means then slow down to 60 on the Deerfoot. I find them just as dangerous than the idiots who still do 130 in a blizzard

  10. Tackles are a pretty 'basic' stat... but says enough about LBs

    Wild 7 tackles, Sherman 6

    Dunn 2, Kuale 1

Replace Dunn and Kuale, we get better.

Kuale is absolutely worthless out there. I'm so sick of seeing him making one of his very few tackles during a game (usually after a decent gain) and then showboating afterwards. His emotion means nothing if he doesn't do his job.

  11. Next year Brohm will be his in third year in the league I think he is more than capable back up.

    So was Goltz.

Division 3, versus division 1, 2nd round NFL draft pick. Hell, even on TSN last year they were saying there were reports from Bomber camp that Goltz was STILL reading defences at a division 3 level. Apples and oranges.

2nd round draft pick who lost his job to a 7th rounder. You have to be outstandingly bad for that to happen in the NFL.
These things happen if there's a late bloomer coming out of college, scouting systems aren't perfect. If memory serves, a first overall lost his starting job to a sixth rounder in New England a few years back

Edit: I should've typed faster, iso beat me to the Tom Brady example

  12. Prettiest girl they could find ? Looks like a Kelsey's waitress.

    What's Kelsey's?

    a Saskatchewan fine dining experience

Living in Calgary you would know all about mediocre dining experiences.  IMHO of course.

    ;)

I've only been out here for a couple of years, but I'm still searching for a really mediocre greasy breakfast joint. All the places close to me are the type of restaurants that charge $12 for eggs and have huge lineups

I lived in Calgary for 10 years and that city can't compare to the Wpg. for culinary experiences other than corporate chains and the upper end.  Doesn't have 1/10th as many independent burger joints or greasy spoons.  Closest I found to a good greasy spoon was the Deerhead Cafe low down on Edmonton Trail in the N.W. and it wasn't great.  Husky serves up a mediocre breakfast as well but nothing to compare with the Red Top, Nick's in Headingly or the old Paladin.  Did they ever re-build after the fire?

Problem with Calgary imo is that it doesn't have any soul.

Oh man, Nick's Inn is the greasy spoon gold standard. Best I found in Calgary so far is Delightful Cafe in Inglewood. Then again, my definition of a good breakfast joint is a place where the food comes fast, the coffee comes faster, and everyone shuts up and leaves me alone

  14.

It's all in good fun, but...

Doesn't it seem a bit lame when they're coming off a grey cup win and have been good for a while now, and the Bombers are just recovering (hopefully) from an incredible string of one gong show after another? I mean I know no one ever accused that organization or their fans of having class, but still. And I'm sure they were all but hurt and fired up over the "1-7 7-1" signs from that brief shining moment of Bomber history a few years back.

It's like if the Blackhawks started publicly making fun of the jets for their lack of playoff success. People would just wonder what the point is and ask why they're so insecure.

Come on now.  This isn't about insecurity it is about marketing and creating a buzz pure and simple.  The way you guys are talking about the billboard here shows that it is an excellent strategy.

Was the Labour Day game suffering from a lack of buzz this year? Just because people talk about things doesn't mean those things are great ideas...I've had a number of conversations about mosquitoes in my life and I could do without that buzz. I suppose any advertising campaigns have to do with marketing, but throwing up billboards in opposing markets don't create new fans, all it does is cause irritation.

  15. I don't hate these new unis with a passion, but the biggest problems with these signature jerseys are that they don't have any gold coloring, the large W on the front makes it harder to identify individual players on the field, and for a jersey that was supposed to be new, fresh, and exciting, these things are really boring. Hopefully the Bombers only wear these uniforms for the requisite amount of games and then send 'em to the sale rack
