I am disgusted at our Cheapskates
The Unknown Poster replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Unless I'm recalling wrong, isn't the salary floor and salary cap pretty closer together? Meaning there isn't mich disparity between what teams spend. I don't think there is an issue with spending on talent. Wasn't the issue the non-bargained spending such as coaches etc? Are we afraid to spend more on a better coach? -
Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania

They've always used celebrities and music. Generally musical acts and wrestling don't mix. Wrestlers are far more athletic now than before. But the business is very scripted and formularic and guys don't have the opportunity to develop their own characters. If I guy made it big in the 80's and 90's it was probably a Ginmick or variant that he had worked on for hears in territories and then maybe ecw and wcw. If every movie was written by the same guys and every actor trained by the same guys then films would lose their uniqueness too. Wwe is bland because they are the only game in town and they think everything they do is perfect and if an angle dkesnt work or a gimmick doesn't work then it's the fault of the worker for not getting over. And if you dare get over before the office planned then you also get buried. -
No one is saying Petan doesn't have more upside and no one is suggesting Burmi is an offensive powerhouse. That's not what was expected when he was signed. He's excelled defensively And for the record, it's early but Frolik has 4 assists and -1. Burmi has 1 goal, 2 assists and +3.

Ducks' coach has to be feeling the heat

Absurd. You're watching different games then the rest of us.

Lawless: O'Shea & Walters to return in 2016
The Unknown Poster replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I doubt he's guessing. -
Absurd. Unless your point is the bottom three of 12 very good players. He's even better than I hoped. Very defensively strong. Not taking chances to generate offense. That third line is very good. Choice between Burni is Frolik right now is Burmi. Younger, cheaper, better contract and Burni is as defensively sound

Game 7: Lightning @ Jets

If Ladd is struggling whats the option. Last season they moved wheeler to Scheif's line but they were not want to that this year. Swap Ladd and Perrrault? Not sure that helps Scheif's line. Burni doesn't fit the mold But they have an offensive minded guy hanging out on the fourth line. Petan-Little-Wheeler? But what to do with Ladd then? -
Better than the other thread where anti cons pretend everyone voted for Trudeau. Speaking of the NDP: @ezralevant: Alberta NDP to announce largest deficit ever. But they're not really Alta NDP. 80% senior staff from out of province https://t.co/qCMzjwe1yR

Burmi is bringing everything Frolik did and at a fraction of the price.

I agree they should take one hour and make it very different. Wcw used to push the cruisers. But WWE is very gunshy and now they are in a hole. If they make a change ratings might slip further before it gets better. They really have buried themselves. But by January football ends and WM season begins and they think all is well. And then repeat next year. Too stubborn. Too set in their ways. And their producer is a Goofball who doesn't know anything but what he's doing right now so he isn't about to change. -
Game 7: Lightning @ Jets

Ehlers is unreal. Could have had a hat trick tonight. Reminds me of Selanne with the lead passes he was receiving. Petan is going to have to play up the line up at some point. He's good but needs to play with finishers. Does he make Ladd a bit more expendable? Always said its hard to trade your captain but isn't Wheeler the true captain at this point? -
Well I just picked up NHL 16 and the worst part is the wait for the damn Xbox to update. Ugh

What would be the point of this, to try and avoid leaks as to what is discussed? Seems disrespectful and heavy handed. @paulvieira: Senior Harper aides said to block defeated Conservative MPs from attending final caucus meeting, reports @InklessPW https://t.co/DXUyYO1FVL

New d pairings. Enstrom-Buff Chiarot-Myers Stu-Trouba -
A women defeats the "politics as usual" argument. But unfortunately I think women still get held to different standards then men. They need to choose carefull.

Are you talking about that idiot that thinks Bruce Wayne is actually Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke? After what I've read today, that's not what happens. People would flip and be so confused. I guess we're not worried about spoilers then...lol Yes thats what Im talking about and yes I believe it to be 100% not true. Just a guy with too much time on his hands. But the clues he finds are pretty fun. He thinks Christian Bale shows up as the "real" Batman. I do like the idea of Deathstroke though. He'd be a great DC Universe film character. I also like the idea of Heath Ledger's joker existing in this new Ben Affleck universe and Jared Leto's Joker being a deranged former Robin. I keep seeing the Robin costume shown in the trailer as belonging to Jason Todd but has that actually been confirmed anywhere? Why would they skip **** Grayson and go to a much lesser known Robin? Unless Grayson makes an appearance but then you have to explain Nightwing etc. Also sounds like Ben Affleck is the Robert Downey of the DC films, appearing in Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman.

Frolik isnt Ladd or Buff.

So a ton of Superman V Batman news making the rounds and I assume will continue until the movie hits. Has anyone read the crazy speculation about a major plot twist? I saw it on FB. Its a long read and Im not sure the writer is proficient in english. Anyway, Im tempted to post the highlights as crazy as they are but if they are true they are insane spoilers...

I dont know...there comes a point when the switch flips and the Jets have no leverage. I sort of waiver of UFA's to a degree. I think unless a guy is critical you never keep him...trade at the deadline. Even if its a lower level guy and you're getting a 3rd, 5thrd whatever...its asset management. Last season I argued that Chevy did the right thing in keep Frolik because I looked at like this - if we wanted to buy at the deadline, we'd want a Frolik type so if we lost him for nothing, it was like getting him for nothing as a rental. But if they lose Buff and/or Ladd for nothing it's horrendously bad asset management. You cant let value like that walk away for nothing. It would not surprise me if we get to the deadline and talk of all-night negotiation sessions with either or both guys...and right up until the deadline and if they dont accept, they get traded. Can't lose them for nothing. Are we Chicago? Are we Montreal? Do we have a legitimate shot at the Cup? No, so you have to make trades. But the risk is, you trade Buff at the deadline and it hurts the team.

Funny you say that, I was about to make a joke about him. He's 73. Not a chance. I remember talk of his son for Manitoba PC's but I dont think he went into politics did he?

Charest was an opportunist leaving the Conservatives to become leader of the Quebec Libs & then premier. He'd never be successful as leader & he has old ties to Brian Mulroney . I vaguely recall this but wasnt it less being an opportunist and more so an effort to thwart the separatists? I mean, I guess it could be both. But I seem to recall there being a lot of positivity around Charest's decision and it impacting the BQ.

National Post: After nearly a decade in power dedicated to tipping Canada’s political scales to the right, Conservatives were defeated by tax-and-spend Liberals Monday. With 32% of the popular vote and 99 seats, the election was far from a wipeout for the Tories, but there appears to be consensus that change will be needed to win back the electorate. The following interview with Peter MacKay, former Conservative minister of justice, defence and foreign affairs, last leader of the federal Progressive Conservatives, has been edited and condensed: I think it’s frankly right now more a matter of tone than policy or vision. I think it’s really important that we communicate more effectively and take a little bit of the edge and some of the hardness out of the messaging. I’m really proud of what we accomplished in government. I’m proud of a lot of the policies we pursued. I think that particularly in recent years, we moved away from presenting it to Canadians in a way that they understood fully, not only the policy, but that it wasn’t intended to be done in a way that came across as mean and even intolerant at times. It’s what happens after almost a decade in government. You tend to be too insular and in a bit of an echo chamber. The criminal justice issues that I was involved with I sincerely believe were very necessary to recalibrate where we were going with our justice system. The victims’ bill of rights, in particular, is a centrepiece of what we did in terms of putting the emphasis back on those who have suffered as a result of crime. We were, some would say, thrashing around a bit and trying to come up with policies that perhaps were aimed a little too narrowly, things like niqab and life-means-life sentencing. Some of the direction was not as appealing to a broader swath of people who would be viewed in the more centrist, progressive heart of the population. You have to appeal to the masses in order to maintain a level of support that’s going to keep you in government. There’s a calculated risk in sometimes taking too strategic an approach. You lose the human touch, and you lose the ability to connect to people on a whole range of issues as opposed to just those specific ones you may be trying to slice off. There’s been a tendency toward what I call big-box politics, but things don’t work the same in rural Saskatchewan as they do in Toronto or Montreal. It takes real effort to connect to people these days. It takes tremendous insight and intelligence and collaboration, and that’s something else frankly that we’ve suffered from a little bit. We’ve moved away from getting the broader view from all of the people who have expertise that we should rely on a little more. Your party has to be a mirror of Canadian citizenship, and I think the current Conservative party is pretty good reflection of that citizenship. But on some policy matters we’re going to have to be cautious in that regard. We have to be an inclusive party. We can never give the impression that this is a party that is exclusive, that is anti-this, or pro-that. We’ve got to be a broad-based party. That more than anything was what was grafted together particularly from the roots of the Progressive Conservative party.

The Liberals took a few goofy kicks at the cat before they took a gamble on Trudeau. Cons probably have more talent than the Liberals did, as far as experience goes. Have to be careful not to go with someone that might be too connected with "failure". Surprised to see Jean Charest's name mentioned, though he has said he's a no.
