Latino Review: While most seemed to really enjoy what Lucasfilm had to show in this final trailer, there were definitely a lot more details that fans would've wanted to see. Sure, the trailer made it clear that our main players will indeed be Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren, but we don't really understand their goals, motivations, or the general plot of the film (granted, it's "Star Wars." Sometimes less is more, and you don't need to reveal much to convince audiences to come). To top it all off, they also left out one major character from this trailer: Luke Skywalker. So what does that mean for us? "These are good questions to be asking," director J.J. Abrams told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I can't wait for you to find out the answer...it's no accident." There have been many theories behind Luke Skywalker's role in the film, though I'd be remiss not to throw up a spoiler warning, just in case someone wants to remain pure before the film's opening night. [POTENTIAL SPOILERS] ... ... ... ... ... ... ... While none of this is confirmed, rumors range from Luke hiding out most of the movie, all the way to him having turned evil in his thirty-year absence from the big screen. Some speculate he may even be the big bad for the trilogy. Either way, it seems incredibly likely that most of us will be left wanting more Luke when the credits roll in "The Force Awakens." I wouldn't be surprised if the man pops up in the last ten minutes of the movie, does one crazy thing, and then leaves. While whether or not Luke will be a huge player in the overall trilogy is a huge question, I have little question that he'll at least be an integral figure, be it for good or evil. Abrams has always been a secretive filmmaker, and right now, it's very clear how coy he's being with Luke. Hopefully all this anticipation will have a satisfactory payoff.

I think its soon. But why isnt it a good idea if naming of other Airports after PM's is okay?
-
If someone doesn't care they don't have to take part in discussion. It's a story in the hockey news so it's relevant.

Harperairport.ca Toronto’s main airport is named after a Liberal Prime Minister, Lester Pearson. Montreal’s main airport is named a Liberal Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau. And Saskatoon’s airport is named after Conservative Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker. Calgary's airport is the third busiest airport in Canada -- but it doesn't have a name. It's called the Calgary International Airport or YYC, its letter name. So why not rename it the Stephen Harper International Airport? Harper's been a major figure in Calgary for more than 20 years. First elected as an MP in 1993. United the right; beat the Liberals three times. Helped change the country. Let's rename the Calgary International Airport, the Stephen Harper International Airport. It wouldn’t be Harper’s style — he’s not a show-off, he’s not about selfies, and an airport named after you is the ultimate selfie. But he deserves it.

Im no expert. But if I hire someone to build my house, is it a reasonable assumption that the person hired to design the house and the contractor hired to build the house know what they are doing (assuming they are reputable)? And if the contractor comes to me to sign off on some element of construction, am I supposed to know if its faulty? Or is he supposed to make sure its not faulty? I was perusing Skyscraper forum and some architects and insiders on there are saying this is bigger than everyone knows and that we would be shocked if we knew what they were about to do to the stadium to repair it. Sounds like a gut job to a degree. And supposedly this $30+ million is to keep the building from falling down and IGF will need further repairs and renos down the road. The NDP will put this off as along as possible so it's PC's problem when they win the election

Sandra Bland Arrest Video
The Unknown Poster replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
Here's the latest "cop caught on tape". A police officer "violently" removing a student. http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/27/us/south-carolina-school-arrest-video/index.html Watch the video. Personally, I think the cop was within his rights. If that is my kid I do two things 1) make sure she's ok 2) tell her the next time a teacher, administrator, principle and cop order her to leave the classroom, do it. The outcry is "oh she wasnt hurting anyone". -

On the subject of merchandising, thought you guys might like Hulk Hogan's 1998 WCW contract. Some snippets: - Other than specific agreements WWE still had (not stated), Hogan granted WCW exclusive (to the exclusion of Hogan himself) world wide marketing and licensing rights including his name, image, voice and all intellectual property. - WCW was required to submit all licensing items to Hogan for his approval - Hogan would receive 50% of net receipts from sale of any items containing "Hulk Hogan" (and likeness etc) and 50% of pro rata portion where Hogan shares the licensing with someone else (DVD's for example) - Details conditional on WCW making a deal with Marvel for licensing rights of "Hulk", which they did. I believe Hogan eventually made his own personal deal with Marvel so that places he worked didnt have to make their own. If you recall old WWE PPV's, they'd end with a copyright notice from Marvel. Now as to Hogan's pay: - He received a signing bonus of $2 million dollars - He was required to appear on 6 PPV events each year and would be the featured performer on those PPV's. He would be compensated the greater of 15% of WCW's PPV revenue or $675,000 per event. Hogan would receive $1.350 Million every July, November and February as an advance on those PPV payments. - In addition to the above pay, Hogan would receive a PPV bonus for PPV's he appeared on. The bonus was linked to buy rates and was minimum of $250,000 and maxed out at $1.75 million but I dont believe he ever rose higher than the minimum. - Hogan was required to appear on Nitro and Thunder as requested and would receive 25% of the arena ticket sales but no less than $25,000 per appearance. This is why Hogan added his match with Goldberg to the Atlanta Dome when Hogan dropped the strap as the Dome was closing in on a sell out anyway...Hogan agreed to drop the strap if they did it on TV and thus, got a huge pay day for a show that was going to sell out without him. - Hogan would receive 25% of ticket revenue on all non-televised "house shows" he appeared on. - Get this: As a member of the nWo, Hogan received an additional $20,000 per month simply to "market" the nWo by wearing nWo logos/shirts while performing and appearing. - If WCW created a 1-900 line relating to Hogan, he would receive 100% of revenue - Hogan received first class air, first class suite hotel accommodations, limo transportation and a per diem of $175 per day. - Reasonable creative control over the outcome of all of his matches. And in a bit of genius, this was a four year contract than ended in May 2002. WCW was sold to WWE in early 2001. Since Hogan never appeared for WCW in year four of his deal, he would not get paid the bulk of the contract...except he had a Year Four bonus as a "Consultant" where he received $100,000 whether he appeared or not. This is the biggest performer contract of all time. I believe the merchandise percentage that is standard for most guys is 15%. Its extremely rare to have creative control (Bret had it, Hogan had it and I dont think anyone else did...). Prior to The Monday Night War, guaranteed contracts were rare, though not unheard of. Guys were generally signed to per appearance deals (could be $500 per appearance) and made up the bulk of their salary in bonuses from PPV and whatnot. Even today in TNA, they sign guys to per appearance deals and if you dont appear, you dont get paid. Eric Bischoff and his son both sued TNA and it came out his son had a deal where he got paid X amount regardless of appearing (a small fee but a wise inclusion). One TNA wrestler was outted as working at the Sunglass Hut on her days off to make ends meet. At the advent of video, WWE kept most of the revenue themselves. Jesse Ventura found out Hogan had a merchandising agreement and sued WWE successfully, receiving a couple million in back royalties and thus the DVD merchandising deals were born for all guys. A major issue for WWE wrestlers today is The Network. Guys would receive a lot of money from PPV bonuses and with much smaller PPV revenue, they stopped receiving that. WWE has never expressed to wrestlers how they would compensate them for "PPV's" that are now on the Network. WWE wrestlers are responsible for their own hotel accommodation and non-flight transportation. WWE does not pay for hotels or rental cars outside of special events (like WrestleMania). So a low level wrestler making $80,000/year still has to pay their own taxes, hotels, food, rental cars. Back in the day, Pat Patterson used to carry a briefcase of cash at TV tapings where guys could sign out advances so they had cash for road expenses. Some guys can make more on the Indy scene. For example, AJ Styles makes more money since leaving TNA because of his deal with New Japan plus being able to work ROH and Indy dates. In Indy wrestling, the promoter pays for trans, hotel and in many cases will pick up food and booze (though this is not required) and the performer sets his own pay. I've booked many "Imports" and they ranged in price from $150 to $1500US. I also had the first booking on Kurt Angle when he left WWE for $5000US but 24 hours later, TNA jacked the rate due to overwhelming interests and it became $15,000 plus no TV or DVD tapings. (I didnt book him). -
I hate the racism argument. He used that here too. No doubt there is racism. Need only look at every online story about Kane when he was here and read the comments. But it defies logic that he was singled out due to racism but Buff wasnt. The Bombers' black players arent. Kane just has no sense of responsibility. It makes me wonder what the Jets plans were. Kane asked for a trade every year... Jets used the impending lockout to get Kane to sign a long term deal. But did they think he'd mature and eventually want to be a Jet? Were they sticking it to him in the sense that "you dont dictate to us"? Or just waiting for the perfect deal to come along?

WINNIPEG – Evander Kane doesn’t mince words about his time as a Winnipeg Jet in an article in the November 9 issue of The Hockey News. “It’s a fresh start, and it’s something I was seeking for a long, long time,” Kane told The Hockey News. He goes on to say how he asked for a trade each of the three summers he was still with Winnipeg. Kane, along with Zach Bogosian, was dealt to the Buffalo Sabres during the 2014/15 season. Winnipeg got Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford as part of the deal. Racism is also brought up in the article. “There are a lot of guys I could point to that everybody knows publicly who have done a lot worse or been accused of doing a lot worse things than I have,” Kane told The Hockey News. “But they don’t look like me. They don’t look like me.” WINNIPEG – Evander Kane doesn’t mince words about his time as a Winnipeg Jet in an article in the November 9 issue of The Hockey News. “It’s a fresh start, and it’s something I was seeking for a long, long time,” Kane told The Hockey News. In the article, Kane said he felt the Jets didn’t support him. “I just didn’t feel as though (the Jets) had my back at all. It would have been so simple to just squash it and put it to bed. It just became kind of a big deal,” he told The Hockey News. Kane also referenced the incident when he arrived to a practice wearing a track suit and Dustin Byfuglien, as well as other players, threw his clothes in the shower. “I’m sacrificing my body playing through the pain, doing everything I can to help that team with the feeling knowing guys don’t have my back,” Kane was quoted. On Sunday night, Kane suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for four to six weeks.

BoudreauWatch: After the Anaheim Ducks’ morning skate, Bruce Boudreau’s words had the staring-into-the-abyss sanguinity of a death row inmate. “Every day’s a new day,” Boudreau said. “The sun’s still coming up even if it is in Chicago in October/early November. You look for the positives in everything, and you’re not sitting around being gloomy. Today, I talked to them about how great it is to be a hockey player. We’re so lucky, so blessed to do this job that we love, rather than doing things that are forced upon you. And we have to play with that. We have to play with that enthusiasm.” Has anyone checked to see if he’s updated his LinkedIn? The Ducks have three more games on this road trip: Monday night at the Chicago Blackhawks, then Tuesday night at the Dallas Stars and then Thursday night at the St. Louis Blues. Not exactly a plate of cupcakes there. Were they to break out against three of the best teams in the conference, perhaps Boudreau Watch goes by the wayside. At least that’s our hope: He’s not the reason Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf have combined for two assists in seven games, or why their power-play is clicking at a league-worst 5.8 percent. But if these Ducks continue to descend into the deep fryer, a new coach will likely be there when they inevitably cycle out of it. We listed several scenarios here. But Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has zeroed in on assistant coach Trent Yawney. From Friedman on Calgary’s Sportsnet 590, via Chris Nichols: “The thing that’s interesting is that that’s a really tense team and Trent Yawney is a really intense guy. Bruce can be a little bit more relaxed, although I know when he’s in these kind of situations he gets really tense too. “There’s not going to be a lot – I mean, a lot of people there have been campaigning for Randy Carlyle to come back. There’s Paul MacLean. There’s Trent Yawney. I mean, they’re all pretty serious guys. I would assume it’s going to be Trent, but it could be any one of the three.” Yawney was the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks for 103 games from 2005-07 and … well, things could have gone better: 33-55-15, fired and replaced by Denis Savard. Anaheim Calling had this take on Yawney: With Yawney having been on the Ducks bench the last two seasons the players are familiar with him, but the question remains that considering the issues for Anaheim are with the offense at the moment, why would the move be to bring in a more defensively-inclined coach? Defense has been the area of Yawney's focus as an assistant, and with the Ducks currently giving up more shots than they average (27.6 shots vs 31.0 shots against) the question is how much is that disparity due to struggles with coverage in the defensive zone vs lack of execution offensively. If anything the move further shows just tough the decision to fire Boudreau will be, considering there is no 'slam dunk' replacement available on the market. Yawney is a former minor pro coach of the year, named by the Hockey News in 03-04. However promoting a defensive assistant, whose AHL teams for the organization struggled to score, feels like it would be an underwhelming move for a team with title aspirations at the beginning of the season. We still think keeping Boudreau is the preferred option over promoting one of his assistants on an interim basis for the simply reason that “he’s a meanie.” Granted, it’s not our $65 million roster swirling around the bowl; but Bob Murray, maybe make a trade first?

consensus online is a blade. His head never hits the post and while he goes in fast, he's careful to put his hand up, lower his head and slow his momentum right before his head would hit. He then pulls back slightly, lowers his head even more and drags the part where the cut ended up, across his glove, looks to be near the wrist area. This is the exact same thing he did in his WM match against Roman and his SummerSlam match against Undertaker when his head hit the turnbuckle PAD and he came up bleeding. He then removed that glove and tossed it aside. I cant say for sure Undertaker bladed. During the exchange he took a couple of hard chair shots. Even the one with his hands up it looked like he put his hands up really weak so the chair would blow through his hands and hit his head. This is classic Undertaker who was previously fined during his HIAC match with Hunter at WM for taking chairs to the head. Brock also punched him pretty hard after he took his glove off so he might have hardway'ed Taker. But if you're going to hardway you might as well blade. Way easier, doesnt hurt and almost always guarantees "good" colour. Hardway is a crapshoot. EDIT: I just watched a GIF and there is the possibility Brock's head hit the post under his glove but I still think its intentional blading. He runs his head across his glove. Also, I saw a GIF that clearly shows Undertaker cutting himself. They're on the floor and Brock throws him into the cell, Taker bounces off and lands on his back. He rolls towards the ring, hiding his head just under the ring apron but as he's rolling he reaches up to his head with his finger and thumbs together (holding something). He quickly rolls towards the ring and then rolls back and reaches up to the "cut" to check it. Classic blade. -
Whats wrong with Bogo? No matter what Chevy does the rest of his career, the ONE huge trade he made was a clear cut victory for the Jets. It appeared to be a victory when it happened and it just gets sweeter and sweeter every day. Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, a first round pick, Joel Armia AND Brendan Lemieux? Talk about highway robbery. Myers better than Bogo. Stafford is better than Kane right now. Loses points on age and upside. But Raslovic might be better than Kane. Lemieux might end up better than Kane too. Man oh man...what a steal of a deal.

Interesting: October 26, 2015 Globe admits spiking Wynne’s teacher unions pay-off story until after federal election Dean SkoreykoRebel Blogger We now have concrete proof that the Globe and Mail decided not to run a story during the campaign that would have hurt the federal Liberals: National Editor Dennis Choquette said the earliest the story could have been ready for publication was for Monday morning’s paper: federal voting day. He said he decided to wait. “Voters were not being asked to elect a provincial government, so I did not feel that we were withholding essential information that could inform their decision at the polls. We did risk our appearance of neutrality, however, were we to have published on Election Day,” Mr. Choquette said. But most disgusting is the Globe and Mail’s public editor Sylvia Stead agreeing: In my view, if Ontario was voting that day for its own government, there would be no question the story should be published. Voters need to know as much key information as can be provided to inform their vote. I agree that this was clearly a separate level of government and a provincial not a federal issue. To say that a scandal about the primary campaigner for Justin Trudeau, Kathleen Wynne was not relevant to the federal election defies logic. Choquette and Stead should both be fired but we know they won’t be.

Which is a reflection of that game, not the season. Burmi has been good.
-
He has always had potential but has never been a good player in the NHL. Maybe being drafted so high has hurt him with expectations. You guys are nuts... never been a good player in the NHL come on now. So you are saying Paul Maurice has zero judgement on talent and he had numerous guys who could of taken that spot on the club and since he is incompetent he simply plugged in Burmistrov because everyone else sucked? I can accept that he wasn't worthy of a early 1st round draft pick knock against him, but to say he's a bad NHL player is ridiculous. Nope didn't say he was bad but his career in the NHL has been avg at best and for a high no. 1 the scoring just isn't there. Good defence but do you draft a first round winger for that? No and the Jets didnt draft him. So what's your argument? That Burmi isnt offensively talented enough for a 1st round pick or that he's a bust? because you seemed to be supporting the people who were critical of him and yet no one suggested Burmi is an offensive genius.

I'd say Petan has the tendency to stick handle his way out of trouble. But guess what, when you're options are Copp or Thorburn, I'd prefer Petan hold onto the puck.
-
You could put Blake Wheeler on the 4th line and say "see the 4th line is better" but it wouldnt be beneficial to Wheeler. My concern is whether Petan is getting the time and use he needs to develop. Coaches are smarter than me so I will assume they think he's fine. But I cant help but wonder if Petan was #1 center on the Moose and lighting it up, what that would do for his confidence. Something has to give regarding Postma. Cant be sent down because he wouldnt clear. But isnt even the back up D man. Pardy is.
-
The problem is the media and partisan politics. It doesnt even matter who is in office. If Harper allowed these repairs, the Liberals would be screaming. If Trudeau does these repairs, the Cons will be screaming. And the media will be asking middle class Canadians if they think the PM needs $10 million of renos on a mansion. And middle class Canadians will say, hey I get by with a $200,000 home, why cant he. I think how the residence is used hurts too. Its not really used to host official functions (or not often If Im not mistaken) so its seen as merely a place for a rich guy to live. It should be repaired to made to be beautiful and splendid and used to host more functions and have more official uses. Would they let the Parliament building fall into disrepair? Ofcourse not. I know they increased security after that nut job tried to get at Chretien and made it to his bedroom door. But I'd be nervous about security if this is how cheap we are. Are the windows bullet proof? Are there armed security on the grounds and roof? Is there encrypted phone and internet lines? Is there a safe room with communication links? The attack on the Parliament building shows us that its not out of the realm of possibility that someone might attack Canada and if this building is known to be lax, why not go after it? If Canada ever came under attack, wouldnt we want to know the PM was a) safe in control of the nation?
-
Very disrespectful. He's the friggen Prime Minister (or about to become). I hated it when PM Harper was personally attacked and I hate it when it's JT. Respect the position. It defeats the argument. Now its entirely possible what this person is saying is true about Trudeau being "dumb". I dont know him. But thats a poor way to make a point.
-
Could see a coaching change perhaps? I guess it depends. I saw Zinger talk about the Moose and say its not like 1.0 where their main goal was winning. They want to win now, but they are developing for the Jets so if they team is playing the systems and just short on talent, then I guess so be it. They have some legitimate NHL'ers in Harrison and Halischuck and Cormier (low level NHL'ers but NHL'ers nontheless). Would be nice if Postma could be assigned there or even Pardy. I still think Petan might benefit from being the #1 center down there.
