  1. Well, 39% of Canada (is that the correct number), not all of Canada...
  2. Im a feminist as much as the next guy, but pick the best person, not a woman for the sake of being a woman. Elizabeth May doesnt fill me with confidence. Kim Campbell didnt either. And the same could be said about all the parties who have male leaders. But government should work to be inclusive and promote capable, talented women on merit. Look at the US. I think Hilary is popular regardless of being a woman. Whereas Palin was the death blow for McCain's campaign.
  3. The idea of the NHL needing to protect itself from relocation is sort of a red herring since other leagues do it and those other leagues are bigger and wealthier than the NHL. Those are leagues wants teams in places they will succeed. Its different in that the NHL doesnt have a massive US TV deal, certainly. But this came up during the Coyotes debacle. And the talk was, is a Network stupid enough to see "Phoenix" and think that it opens them to 3 million people or do they look at the ratings and realize Swift Current gets more viewers for hockey than PHX? I dont know how network people view those things but I would think 20 years of evidence would give them a pretty good idea of the value of the Coyotes on a national TV contract and it cant be more than what they'd get on additional revenue in Canada or a better US market with more viewers. The NHL relies on bail outs by local government and taxpayer funded arenas. They fought so hard in Glendale because the NHL convinced Glendale to build the arena and help fund the team and if they let the team leave, it would impact their future staring contests with other local councils. The NHL is obviously very good at convincing local governments to chip in cash. They wont relocate a team until that is exhausted. Its truly amazing that they allowed the Thrashers to exist in a scenario that was not favorable to them at all. They had no options in Atlanta and were lucky Winnipeg was a soft landing spot.
  4. Pat Leonard ✔ @PLeonardNYDN Confirmed, #NYR today placed F Tanner Glass on waivers. If he clears, goes to Hartford & Rangers only retain $500K of his $1.45 million hit
  5. The SUN had a story about Doug Ford being a possibility too. I didnt even bother reading the story.
  6. I would have thought you'd be smart enough to know your comment was a snide remark towards the ndp. Apparently I was wrong. That whooshing sound was the point going right over your head, Fraser. How was it a snide remark towards your precious NDP? And how would you know my intent better than me? You're a real piece of work. lol Lighten up, Francis. It's over. If you don't understand how this is a snide remark? Then you have some kind of mild? version of aspergers and for the record the tory's would have been my second choice in the election. Well Francis, your original reply was to a different post I made. Also that was not a snide remark at all, it was an observation. Do you know the difference? Or do you want to keep pretending you're offering anything of value here when in reality you are personally troubled by me and seek out my posts to reply to...which in turn says a lot more about you than me.
  7. Another city council getting duped by Slick Gary and his cronies. It wont be long before the city is regretting this decision and begging the team to leave.
  8. I am not overly familiar with Jason Kenney but he seems to have a lot of goodwill with people. I dont know about the slimy-ness of him but he seems the odds on favorite at this point.
  9. Not really much spin. In the province the NDP number of seats didn't go down, but the conservatives did. What he is neglecting of course is the the cons went down because Manitobans wanted change and still do. That doesn't help the NDP nor hurt the provincial Cons. If anything it should bolster the provincial Liberals. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you ask) they are so disorganized that they likely won't be able to do anything about it. Actual con votes didn't drop a ton. If he thinks the liberal vote is somehow indicative of a turn away from provincial PC's he's kidding himself. But he knows. That's why its spin. He's sunk. And this result was bad for him.
  10. Nice spin attempt here @ctvwinnipeg: Premier Selinger says Liberal surge should unsettle Manitoba Conservative leader: Manitoba's premier says Cons... https://t.co/IlFiKCTPn7
  11. Jason Kenney would seem to be the front runner. Fairly young, experienced, multiple port folios and roots in the reform party. Wiki: Kenney has been named one of Canada's "100 Leaders of the Future" by Maclean's magazine; "one of Canada's leading conservative activists" by the Globe and Mail; and "one of 21 Canadians to watch in the 21st century" by the Financial Post magazine. On May 13, 2009, Maclean's magazine, in association with the Dominion Institute, L'actualité and presenting sponsor Enbridge presented Kenney with the award for "Best Overall MP".[70] Maclean's magazine named Kenney the "hardest working" MP of 2011, citing overwhelming support from all political parties who recognized Kenney's constant "20-hour work days" and "permanent 5 o'clock shadow."[71]
  12. I saw Lisa LaFlamme interview McKay and she asked him that question. He said no. He just had another baby. And he's getting a nice big pension. Why go back to the circus in Ottawa? Who needs it? Thats too bad. I always liked him.
  13. I watched Star Trek: Generations ten times in the theater when I was a kid. WTF was I thinking?! Probably will watch Star Wars twice if its good. First time to be blown away and fully immersed and second time to look for Easter eggs and things I might have missed. Plus, Im front row of IMAX 3D so I might want to see it a few rows back later on.
  14. The Blackhawks were already thin along the blue line, but now will have to manage without their best defenseman for the next several weeks. Duncan Keith will be out 4-6 weeks after having surgery to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee.
  15. Wade had the winning ticket last game??
  16. Apparently there is a viral movement gaining ground to boycott this film because it's "Anti-White". The good news is, it means a greater chance of not sharing the theater with racist scum and villainy.
  17. I ended up choosing friday afternoon. So I guess Im calling in "sick"
  18. Can you imagine winning and being told you are ineligible? Cant be age because thats weird just give the ticket to a parent. Plus, if they were a minor why were they sold a ticket. Must be something else. Bombers employee?
  19. Ive never bought tickets this far in advance. I have bought tickets a few days in advance for an opening of a film I was interested in. But my desire to secure my tickets now is probably 50/50 me wanting to see the movie as soon as possible and the fact its an historic event in films and a global phenomenon and I dont really want to be inundated all weekend with chitter chatter about it....might as well see it myself and not have to worry. Im a Spoiler junkie and I think LucasFilms has done a masterful job managing this film. JJ is a secrecy nut to his own detriment (Khan) but they've taken the approach of releasing just enough to satisfy people without going over board. And they seem more honest about speculation too. I saw JJ even admit they are keeping the last names of two characters purposely vague for a reason, which exposes that they are surely of a familiar lineage. They've built up anticipation with how they've managed information. For example, if this was 25 years ago they might have kept it secret that Mark Hamil is in it...he has not appeared in trailers or posters and no mention of him exists other than their confirmation (and photo) of him as part of the cast. So we know hes in it but they are being vague for a reason (I think I know why). And that excites me.
  20. Got my tickets!
  21. I would have thought you'd be smart enough to know your comment was a snide remark towards the ndp. Apparently I was wrong. 22. I just go to Cineplex's website.
  23. @sunlorrie: CTV's Greg Oliver loses his ******* mind on air and calls Harper a liar, cheater and bigot. Unbelievable. #elxn42 #cdnpoli apparently this is a story... I missed it!
  24. @CherylHolmesCTV: Toet leading Elmwood-Transcona by 43 votes now. 7 polls to go #CTVElection #elexn42 https://t.co/okWJj9RJRw
