Weird eh? Like people actually want there to be damage and death because it would help their agenda. Where do we all stand on man-made climate change?

The only good thing about the Spock/khan fight was the foot chase which I thought was well done. Hated the cgi jumping from silly floating barges. And the attempt by Spock to psi attack khan. He basically tried to mind **** him. Never thought of that before. So one for the writers there. -

Yeah but that first 10 minutes was the best part of the film IMHO. You're definitely not wrong!! -

Not sure about distribution. They're makig a big deal out of CBS All Access so I imagine that's the plan in the US. Id assume they'd syndicate internationally. ISO - and the bad news is one of the writers of the first two films is the exec producer on this show. I'm not overly optimistic. I think it will be heartless action but you never know. -
Clearly shoulder on shoulder. I mean wow it just doesn't get more obvious that that is a clean hit. Unbelievable. Didn't even deserve a penalty.

Another upcoming reboot: According to Deadline, Fox has given a pilot production commitment to "The Greatest American Hero," a single-camera comedy inspired by Steven J. Cannell’s 80's cult classic. Its written by "Dope" screenwriter/director Rick Famuyiwa, and will be produced by Phil Lord & Chris Miller– the directing duo behind the "LEGO Movie." The original sci-fi dramedy series, created by producer Stephen J. Cannell, premiered as a two-hour pilot movie on ABC in 1981. The series featured William Katt as teacher Ralph Hinkley, Robert Culp as FBI agent Bill Maxwell, and Connie Sellecca as lawyer Pam Davidson. The series chronicles Ralph's adventures after a group of aliens gives him a red suit that grants him superhuman abilities. Unfortunately for Ralph, who hates wearing the suit, he immediately loses its instruction booklet, and thus has to learn how to use its powers by trial and error, often with comical results. The new sereis is more like a reboot as the premise is still the same, which the site describes: Greatest American Hero is the story of what happens when great power is not met with great responsibility. An ordinary man, completely content with being average, wakes up with a superpower suit he never asked for and has to deal with the complications it brings his life. ****I remember watching this with my parents but only vaguly as I was quite young. One thing is for certain, they must keep the intro song which some of you even younger peeps will remember as being spoofed on Seinfeld when George used it for his answering machine message.

I think Putin is just making it easier for Iran to gain control in the region. Iran will end up in control of Iraq sooner or later. By the time Iran gets nukes, they will be tough to stop. At some point Isreal is going to act pre-emptively to prevent their own destruction. Things will eventually get very messy. or messier as it is.

U.S. Federal Election
The Unknown Poster replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
Interesting look back on Bush vs Gore: http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/02/opinions/borger-bush-v-gore-15-endless-election/index.html Some highlights: (CNN)It's been a trip in a time machine: Back 15 years to the confusion of Election 2000, and the resulting 36 days in Florida — a state whose governor, Jeb Bush, was the brother of the GOP candidate. Back to a tie presidential race that wound up decided by an unprecedented intervention by the U.S. Supreme Court. Back to a very different time -- as we learned in reporting "The Endless Election" -- that still remains an unmatched moment in modern political history. Communication, just 15 years ago pre-smartphone, pre-Twitter seems quaint, even ancient. On election night, when Gore was about to concede, his own war room had no idea that he had already called George W. Bush and was on his way to the War Memorial in Nashville to make it official. The scramble to find him, and hold him back, looks more Marx Brothers than modern -- and only because campaign staffers could not communicate. Imagine that. Al Gore had won the national popular vote by more than half a million. But he lost the two most important votes: the one in the Electoral College and the one at the Supreme Court. Florida, with its 25 electoral votes, was the key to victory for both sides. The voting process in the state was a mess -- with poorly designed ballots and resulting irregularities in counting. Election night itself was a network television nightmare -- with Gore and Bush alternately declared victors in the state. And once the lawyers took over, well, it dragged on for 36 days. Until the Supreme Court decided the election. Bush won, and Team Bush was in Florida to preserve a victory, not count votes. It was a lesson in messaging the Democrats have not forgotten. While Team Gore undoubtedly fought and fought hard, the candidate himself did not want to appear to be taking to the streets to win. Demonstrations were limited. Congressional visits to Florida were limited, too. Gore wanted to be a statesman in a dogfight. As Whouley told us, "When you're in a fight, the first person who stops fighting always loses." It still hurts. So, it comes down to this: Maybe -- just maybe -- more people went to the polls intending to vote for Al Gore. But you need to count votes, not intentions. And that was the crux of the problem. In a series of post-election studies done by both the media and academics, the result is ambiguous: Bush likely would have won the statewide recount ordered by the Florida Supreme Court, by a small margin. But Gore would have likely won a statewide recount of all disputed ballots — a process his team never requested. -
(CNN)The only reasonable explanation for the crash of a Russian passenger jet in Egypt is "an external influence," an executive from the airline that operated the flight said Monday, stressing that planes don't just break apart in midair. Kogalymavia Flight 9268 broke into pieces before it hit the ground in a remote area of Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, killing all 224 people on board. The executive was not specific about what he meant by an external influence. Experts say it is too early to know for certain what caused the plane to break up at the start of what could be a lengthy investigation. ***I believe ISIS claimed responsibility immediately but Russia said it was not credible. Why do commercial jets fly over war zones?

Couple of Marines tuned him up at a bar. The Shawn clique didnt like Douglas so they made sure the belt ended up on Razor. Brandon is a lousy town for wrestling. WWE doesnt come here because we're too far from other major centres for TV. -

I've been to about 6 in my life time, one in minny( RAW), was at the RAW in Winnipeg too and I would honestly say that the house shows are 100000x better than the TV show The TV show has so many breaks, you really don't know what you are gonna get either, with house shows, the guys can go out there and actually wrestle and when they actually are allowed to wrestle and go 15 20 minutes plus, It's damn good. I'll take the 15 20 minute matches over the 5 minute TV matches any day Raw was cool, was really cool but... at the same time, I'm not sure I'd go to another RAW because you really don't get your moneys worth like you do at a house show. The House Shows are ok as far as seeing the talent up close. And Winnipeg usually has a good atmosphere so the guys want to do well. But 99% of the time, nothing happens at House Shows so they dont really matter. I was at RAW and SD in Winnipeg and loved them. Tremendous shows. Not many markets host both TV's and sell them both out. Its almost shocking they havent brought TV back to Winnipeg. I will usually go to a house show once every year or two but not every few months when they come. Here's a little knowns fact, back in the day the local promoters used to get front row comps. Not anymore! -

One would presume but given the small window of the films I'd suspect it doesnt matter. But I also suspect the TV show will have the same look and in-universe rules as the Bad Robot films. Im surprised Bob Orci isnt a producer as well. Then again, I think his role as producer of Beyond is more symbolic and legal than actual. -

Official. http://www.startrek.com/article/new-star-trek-series-premieres-january-2017 A bit nervous about Alex Kurtzman being the Exec Producer. Although I guess with that we can confirm the TV series will take place in the "new" Universe. -
Nah. Holmes would go overboard. Somewhere along the lines, he lost touch with reality. I'm thinking a Love it or List it show But I'd be all for Baulmer doing it. As long as his wife is in charge of the budget. I like his shows where he builds his own houses. Guys has some major coin and his wife has good taste. She's also great to look at if that matters... ;-)

I think it was called because the Jets were getting a call already. Decided to even it up. Ladd also didnt really deserve a penalty since the most egregious thing he did was get jumped from behind and slammed to the ice.
-
Well its like anything though, the people involved would be vetted and cleared by the RCMP and Im sure certain aspects of the home would be off limits, or minimal limits.
-
As Bryan Baumler said in the story, he doesnt see it as a regular home reno show where the homeowner (PM in this case) ends up putting in tile to save a few bucks on budget, but that would be a "Canadian" thing to do... But a series that traces the history of the home and its fall into dis-repair, how former PM's handled in and interesting stories. And then ofcourse, the renovation. Which really should likely be a gutting, as far as available information goes. I could see a show like that generating pretty big ratings in Canada, plus interesting sponsors. And I bet they could syndicate it to other countries too as its not every day the official residence of a world leader is renovated and the subject of a series like that. If you use guys like Baummler, Holmes etc and have them lend their names and resources, you save even a few more bucks. And it could generate some good will with Canadians about something we dont generally know a lot about (official residence). Have the official opening coincide with the visit from a major head of state. if they can get the President and Queen (or Prince) there at the same time, all the better.

The celebrity renovators are weighing in: http://canadaam.ctvnews.ca/mobile/major-overhaul-of-24-sussex-needed-to-create-healthy-home-renovation-expert-1.2638336?hootPostID=15613b69775241ff524fddf9cd0bfa9a I agree with him that any renovation should be extensively filmed. They could probably get a network to find a chunk of the renovation that way actually.

Bob McKenzie ✔ @TSNBobMcKenzie No word yet from @NHLPlayerSafety but I imagine WPG's Dustin Byfuglien's hit on MTL's Brendan Gallagher last night will get a long look. Is Bob falling for the "Montreal can do no wrong" nonsense? Buff delivered a 100% clean body check.

Yeah I have a point, Bucko. I am saying you don't have a clue what security costs, and your entire opinion is politically biased. I am basing that on all of the bullshit you've posted about Harper in the past. But really who cares. The election is over, and I would hate to sound "pissy". Well, you're wrong..again.Just a simple statement on my part about the expense of transporting the vehicles. That's it. Doesn't matter who was the PM. You just want to spin something, wrong or not. But you're still pissed that your boy lost the election and that he lost because all that "bullshit" was true. Oh well. I'm sure when the PM or President or other world leaders travel abroad they'd be able to rent or borrow armoured limos. But there is a reason they always prefer to use their own. And it's pretty obvious. Begrudging a leader his full security detail because it's not the party you support is small minded and petty. I'm sure the prince will fly coach and insist on driving his own smart car when he travels. You use the word "always" as if it is standard procedure. I challenge you to find another instance were they transported a limo for a previous PM to use in a foreign country. I'm pretty sure I remember they used to fly around armored cars for Mulroney back during his tenure. Of course, that was before the days of the internet so I couldn't find anything in a Google search. I did find this article though: http://www.pressreader.com/canada/windsor-star/20121107/281711201915365/TextView From the sounds of the article, the RCMP threat assessment made the call to fly the limos over to India. If the RCMP is telling you that you need armored cars, then what do you do? Tell them to stick it? I don't know. Just seems to me to be crying over spilt milk. This is the most important fact for some of these people that just dont get it and cant see past their partisanship. The RCMP is in charge of security not the PM. I'd like to know if the PM (of any party) has ever interferred with the RCMP doing their job to protect the PM. And lets be honest, if Harper had ever been attacked or assasinated, there are a number of people who would say "see, he got what he deserved and if he hadnt pissed people off it wouldnt have happened". The same people who, if it happened to Justin, would say "the right wing nuts are afraid of positive change." Yeah...its true. Its damn true.
