There is some speculation that players with the no trade lists provide them at the beginning of every season. So a team doesnt have to go to a player at a specific point and request it...and then request it again later in the season and so on. I believe Lawless mentioned he wasnt sure if it was a list of 10 teams he would NOT go to or a list of 10 teams he WOULD go to. But odds are the Jets have it already. I cant see Edmonton being on his go-to list, but you never know. Maybe he likes Canada. Besides, being a pending UFA, he could be fine going anywhere now...his choice in the summer.

Bryan Little's deal expires after 17/18. He's making $4.7 per year. I could see him re-signing for sure. Price will depend on performance over the next couple of years and what else happens (does Scheif take the 1C role from him?). But Little is a pro. Pretty consistent. I'd like to keep him. But thats a decision for two years from now. -
I was thinking that too! Before the film some of us talked about how much Disney spent but man, they might make back the cash on this one movie (they gave Lucas $2b in cash and $2b in stock). I think they bought Pixar for $7b...in hindsight LucasFilm was a steal for Disney. How many people are waiting til the crowds die down too? My gf is one of them. If you consider there is a large number of people that are waiting to see it (several at my work fall into that category too). Plus the hardcore fans who will see it 10 times. And the soft fans like me who will see it 2-3 times. Odds are it will surpass Avatar as #1.

Hmmm that's tough. I've seen saying Edmonton as a trade partner for Buff for ages. Nuge is out there as a possibility. Chevy wanted a top six guy earlier. Buff+ for 1st round & Nuge? Then Nuge allows them to move on from Ladd? Or if they do re-sign Ladd, it makes Nuge the 2LW and pushes Perreault to 3C or 3LW. Perreault-Lowry-Ehlers could be a strong 3rd line. Nuge-Scheif-Stafford as second line.

Oh and Perrerault? I'd say he's a "must sign" next year. In fact, can he, as a pending UFA, be re-signed this summer? Jets should not make the mistake of waiting on him. He's too good. If they let him go they will have "Frolik-ish" regrets. If I only had money for Ladd or Perrerault, I'd seriously consider going with Perrerault... -

Thats true Goalie. Its hard to predict the future. Last year we'd have predicted Morrissey as the top 4 D, Lowry as a top six, Petan as a top six etc. To me, Wheeler and to a lesser extent Little are the heart & soul of this team right now. You want to believe Scheif and Trouba will take on those roles and Scheif by all accounts is getting there. Removing Ladd and Buff presumably for picks and prospects makes the Jets even younger. Its hard to win with all those rookies. Look at Edmonton with a plethora of studs and they sucked...only beginning to look like their potential this season. If we move away from Ladd & Buff this year, I would say we're at least three years from competing for a playoff spot, give or a take Helle getting crazy hot in that time. Too young over-all. But when you look at Scheif, Ehlers, petan, Connor, Roslovic, Lemieux, Lowry, Copp, Armia, Trouba, Myers, Morrissey....its hard not to see a really good team in 3 years. Add Wheeler, Little and whatever other veteran or two they might sign for depth and its a good team. But we have to get there. H&L were discussing this last night with someone (cant remember who was the guest) and I think Lawless asked "if Chevy could go back to Year 1, would he gut the team of veterans and start rebuilding from scratch?" Its an interesting question. I think he answer is still no even if he could predict the future. I always maintained the Jets had the opportunity to compete for years because of their dual core situation. Wheeler, Little, Ladd, Buff, Enstrom etc and then the Scheif, Trouba, Lowry etc group. And they saw their chance last season. And realistically, they could go out and get a top six guy (rumored to be Chevy's wish list in November) a couple of good depth veterans (like last season) and ultimately "compete" for a spot. But then you're talking cap team. And you're pushing your rookies down. Its a crossroads scenario this season. You could push your rookies down...nothing wrong with over-ripening them in the AHL. But if the team can be "good", young, exciting and "cheap" then thats the direction ownership will go. They werent a cap team last season when they DID make the playoffs. They aint going to be one next season after the rude awakening that is this season. -
Star Wars is up to $766M worldwide. In one week. Yowza! I know I tried to get tickets today also and found the theater I looked at almost sold out three days ago so I expect the numbers will continue to sky rocket.

Anyone watch the Netflix documentary Making A Murderer (I mentioned above)? Ive finished it (10 episodes) and Im itching to discuss spoilers if anyone else loves true crime. This case is nuts. Now that I finished the series, I googled the case and the Netflix series is causing a ton of media around the case. It almost seems like a companion case to the OJ Simpson trial in that what the defense in OJ case ridiculously asserted happened might actually have happened in the Steve Avery case....

The rumors would seem to point on that direction. That they negotiated with Ladd. Agreed on term. That they never talked to Buff. Supposedly offered him to the Isles. I think most people would keep buff right now and trade Ladd. But long term keeping ladd and trading buff is probably the right move. Sadly buff is really our only bonafide superstar. Perhaps Wheeler though he sort of flies under the radar.

Premier Fletcher anyone?

What does he do for the jets?

Those who can, do. Those who cant, teach. I think...

I wonder how much current play factors in. For example, lets say in the summer the Jets had offered 6X6 and Ladd asked for 7x6. They decide to hold off. Ladd's people probably feeling the closer he gets to Free Agency, the more leverage they have. But then Ladd has a poor season. Does his agent still say hey here are his career stats and accomplishes or do the Jets say "wellll. we see a player trending down". Does the agent look at this and say gee, last summer you would have had 20 teams offering you more. But you might not this summer... is one in the hand worth X in the bush when X is undefined?

It cant be too easy to steal a boat. A small boat, sure. But I assume Ladd has a pretty nice boat.

The first story I heard about Ladd was when he was moving in that first pre-season. He was staying in Toews condo off Pembina HWY. My friend lived there and her brother saw Ladd back a truck up and start moving some stuff in but he was by himself. Friend's brother went down and helped him. Ladd went to his condo later and gave him Jets tickets as a thank you. Also, Ladd's wife would borrow sugar (and stuff) from my friend's mom. Condo's were next to each other. Said the Ladd's were super nice.

I also very much dislike Eisenberg. Seems to play the same role in all films, just different degrees of volume. Appears the volume is turned way up in this one. I wont hate it til I see it. I want to love it. I love DC. But for me, Lex has to be someone with gravitas because he's an enemy combating the most powerful being in the world. One must believe that he can be a formidable foe. Gene Hackman brought that to his role. And he brought a level of talent and power to the Superman films. Who is the person in this new film that will have gravitas? So far I guess Affleck is the best actor of the leads and he's no Gene Hackman.

Ive only heard two Bogo stories from fairly reliable sources. But Im not sure what we're allowed to post (neither are particularly bad and one is actually good).

I made a subtle joke about Bogo once and got in some hot water with the mods!

In what way do you feel Chevy lied to you? Yes they have lots of cap room so they could have signed more veterans to one year deals but thats really all they could do because they need that cap space for all our UFA's and RFA's. If the Jets made a mistake it was in trusting the youth to step up which is something sort of odd for them as they have mostly embraced the idea of letting the kids mature until they are more than ready. And yet, they kept Lowry and Chiarot, both of whom seemingly could have used another season or two in the AHL. Ehlers is unique in that he was too good for Junior and wasnt going to report back. So it was either keep him with the Jets or have him go over-seas where he'd be out of their development sphere. They expected Petan to be better. Im not saying it was a foolish suggestion but their decided rather than keep Stemp and Tlusty to deepen their bottom six, that Lowry, Ehlers, Petan and Burmi would be able to make up for those losses. I wont count Frolik because he didnt want to be here. But they didnt replace him. Realistically, the Jets could have just as easily missed the playoffs last season and all we're talking about now is the continued evolution from the Thrashers to a younger, better, faster, more talented Jets. But last year was the very, very small window of opportunity. The Jets recognized it, made moves to take advantage of it and went for it. It didnt work and now we're back to the The Plan. I just dont want to see the Jets miss the playoffs and get a 12th overall pick. Get the 3rd overall pick. Or the 2nd. Or the 1st. If the Jets landed Matthews, it changes everything. -
Star Wars: Spoiler Thread Discussion

The issue of why no one would say anything to her, I think there is an implication she was talked about but we werent shown it. Everytime she came up, the scene cut away. Han and Leia, Han and Maz etc. Han also didnt seem overly concerned when he saw Kylo carrying her away. Is it because he knew he wouldnt hurt her? When Han asks her her name and she says "Rey" he repeats it sort of in a "oh really, okay, sure" sort of way and immediately wants her to come work with him...away from the fight. When Leia and her share a scene, its after Han is killed. They embrace. Perhaps they then chatted for hours...we didnt see it. Leia was searching for Luke desperately. But she sends Rey. And essentially alone. That's a big trust for a stranger. Which is why I think she's not. Will be fun to find out though. I dont think Finn will be Force sensitive. There were rumors he was Lando's kid which seems a bit much...like of the three black characters in 6 films, two are related? He was set up as the red herring in all the promotional material. Shown using the saber etc as if he was the new "Luke", but it was Rey. She was the one who the Force awakened in. I think the long pause between Kylo and Finn was just that Kylo sensed the internal struggle inside Finn. And either because he didnt care about a lowly stormtrooper or because he understood that struggle, he let it go. But in a practical sense, that scene was designed to show us why Kylo would know Finn was the one who helped Poe escape. Regarding Dooku - he was a very interesting character that Lucas shafted as he was prone to do in the originals. The only other Force user besides Palpatine who could use Force lightening...so presumably an extremely powerful Jedi/Sith. Its one thing that he left the Jedi order...but I didnt get a good sense of why he'd become a Sith. If they had shown he left because he had loved ones and it was against the rules...and then that ultimately is why he became a Sith to increase his power to protect them, it would have meant a lot more to the plot, made him more interesting and vindicated Yoda's position on relationships. Im curious to see if that theme of love leads to fear etc comes up. Kylo was not someone in love who was driven insane as many of us have experienced...but surrounded by love and support which he in turn seemingly rejected. Hopefully we'll see how that happened and how he came to know and be obsessed with Darth Vader. I still think Snoke manipulated visions of Anakin appearing to Kylo so you might say he had Luke on one shoulder showing him the light and Anakin on the other showing him the dark. -

Yup. It's time. Their one life line is playing Nashville three times on January. They have to win all three and still need to consistently play above their average this season. Not gonna happen stop chasing it. Make the right decisions for the future. We had our small window last year and they made the right moves to take a shot. It was fun Now it's time to make the right moves to set the team up for the future. -

The Roman Empire begins... WWE RAW ratings down 13% from last week The Monday, December 21st edition of WWE RAW featuring the Slammy Awards show maintained its audience better than most weeks, and did better than most weeks this past Fall. The three-hour show did 3.37 million viewers, down 13 percent from last week's unusually large number. However, it was still above the levels of most of the Fall season. Just two weeks ago, the show had fallen to 3.16 million viewers. Raw probably benefited from a low-rated NFL game on ESPN as competition as the Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints game did 10.90 million viewers. The first hour started at normal Fall levels, but the second and third hour decline wasn't there at the rate it usually is. The three hours were: 8 p.m. 3.44 million viewers 9 p.m. 3.37 million viewers 10 p.m. 3.32 million viewers The show's main event was WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus in a cage match. The other big item of note is that John Cena returns next week, so it will be interesting to see how that affects viewership.
