Local boy continues to make good. #2 wrestling in the World (behind only WrestleMania), New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome: KENNY OMEGA VS. KUSHIDA FOR THE IWGP JR. TITLE Great match, with Kushida turning the One Winged Angel into a Kimura and then a cradle for the pin to win the title. Kushida wa great here and Omega did a tremendous job of selling the left arm during this match. The Bucks interfered helping Omega. Ryusuke Taguchi came out as Doc Brown from Back to the Future with Kushida. The Bucks took him out early with a double superkick. He came back and took out the Bucks with garbage can shots. Both did big dives and suepr crisp wrestling. AJ Styles also lost and I suspect he's entertaining a WWE offer. -

"Disney's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' continues its record-breaking run at an astounding pace, crossing $1.5 billion globally this weekend after 19 days in release and not stands as the sixth highest grossing movie of all-time worldwide, passing 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and is on track to pass Universal's 'Furious 7' and 'Marvel's The Avengers' to take the number four global spot." Game 39 : Jets @ Sucks

Its hard. I never cheer against the Jets. But if you could say 'look, if the Jets lose X amount of games, they will end up making this change, drafting this player and being way better for the next 10 years then if they win X amount of games', then who wouldnt accept that as a net benefit? Do the Oilers' wish they had won a few more games and never drafted their plethora of talent? At the time...maybe. Now? Nope. Honestly, the risk is in the Jets finishing bottom three but not getting the top draft pick. But imagine a scenario where they end up with the #1 draft pick? -

Maybe. But they didnt let Frolik walk. He chose to leave. Reportedly because his wife didnt like Winnipeg. Slater was a good faceoff guy and thats about it. Andrew Copp is hardly the problem on this team. He either gets handed the spot or he wins it in training camp and now you've got Slater to pay. Slater's deal expired. It was time to move on. I'd say yes they should have re-signed Stemp. Ehlers was another problem. If he could play for the Moose, that's where he'd be. He couldn't. He was way too good for Junior and wasnt going back. Jets decided to keep him in the fold rather than let him go to Europe where he'd be out of their direct sphere of influence. And I think Burmi has worked hard. He wasnt "handed" a spot. He was a three year pro who was signed to a nearly league minimum contract. If anything the Jets might be guilty of over-valuing players. They thought Lowry had arrived last year...this year showed he needs some more seasoning. Same with Chiarot who, if he still had a two way deal would probably be back with the Moose. Petan needed development time and they eventually recognized that. In hindsight, they probably wish they had re-signed Stemp and assigned Petan to the Moose from the beginning. Dont think they make any other changed involving the mentioned players. -
I think if I tried really hard I could come with a reason Avery might act a certain way if he was the murderer but its not "evidence". For example, he might have hidden the truck on his property thinking he would strip it for parts before crushing it since that was the business he was in. But if you're trying to get away with murder, it makes little sense. Plus, the vehicle was described as "conspicuously" covered. In other words, it was the only vehcle with things placed against it...so it stuck out. Would have been wiser to hide it in plain site. Plus, the woman who found it practically bee-lined to the car on a 40 acre compound with thousands of cars. She knew it was there. She came off like a nervous soccer mom on the stand but she was a Private Investigator. My feeling is, whether he committed the murder or not is actually irrelevant. The jury's job is not to decide if he did it. Their job is to rule on the prosecution's efforts to prove it. Once you have admitted liars, the case is over. That one uniformed cop was a slam dunk to me. He had just given testimony in Avery's $36m case against his boss and was basically incriminated in ignoring evidence that Avery hadnt committed the rape he was eventually exonerated of. Two days before the murder victim's truck is found on Avery's property he calls in the License Plate number and vehicle description to dispatch in exactly the way one would if they came across the vehicle. When he was questioned about this, his demeanor changed. He began blinking rapidly. He was incredibly nervous. That was the gotcha moment for me. In my opinion, this cop found the vehicle, probably near the Avery property. And he drove the vehicle to the location and took the plates off and placed them inside another wrecked vehicle on the property (a back up plan in case Avery found the truck and disposed of it). The cops locked themselves into a crazy story by convincing the nephew to agree to it. Unfortunately for them, the evidence showed that those events could not have happened (ie. woman chained to the bed, throat slit in the bedroom, shot in the garage). But their one "witness" was locked into that story. So the cops were forced to plant evidence in those two locations to back up their made up story. There were so many reasonable doubt moments - Avery's prior blood sample from the rape case had been tampered with with evidence that a needle had been inserted into the vial. If evidence tampering is the poisonous tree then the blood drops in the truck are fruits of that tree. Cant take them seriously. - Prosecutor insisted the woman was chained spread eagle to the bed. No evidence whatsoever. Wrap a chain around your bed post and pull and twist it like you would if you were struggling to get free or violently raped. - Prosecutor insisted the woman's throat was slit in the bedroom. Zero evidence. Not a single drop of blood. - Prosecutor insisted the woman was hot multiple times in the garage. Zero evidence. Not a single drop of blood. They even tore up the cement floor where it was cracked and blood would have naturally pooled. No DNA whatsoever. - Prosecutor insist the body is burned in the bonfire Avery had that night. Bonfire cant burn hot enough to cremate a body. Thus the remains were planted in the bonfire after the fact - Victim's car key was found in the bedroom. On the 7th or 8th search. In plain sight! All prior searches found nothing. Suddenly two of the cops implicated in the prior false rape case do a search and find the key. The key has NO prints, NO DNA except for a sweat stain of Avery's. ie. The key was wiped clean. - A spent bullet found in the garage, laying neatly on the floor, again after multiple searches found nothing and again only after the two cops enter the scene. Prosecutor wants you to believe Avery is the greatest cleaner in the history of murder...but missed the bullet, missed the key. And one other gotcha moment. Steve's other nephew testified against him. He claimed he was just getting up when he saw the victim on the property and when he went outside he saw her entering Steve's trailer. Steve says when he went outside to speak with the victim, his nephew at already left. So the nephew is lying. Why? Either because he was pressured to or because he knew the truth. Who had opportunity and access? Anyone on that property. The nephew and his father (who hated Steve) were going hunting that day...right at the time the victim should have been leaving the property and they were gone all night and were each other's alibi. There's your murderer.

Im not sure who that writer is. He makes some good points but misses on a few others. There is a single underlying reason. WWE wanted to broaden it's appeal to sponsors and clean up its image as it became publicly traded. PG vs PG14 is not the reason for the lower ratings. I would agree that suspense and surprises are an issue. But thats more to do with the creative and not how often they switch the titles. At one point WCW switched their World Championship 20 times in 35 weeks. It devalued the title and lowered ratings. He goes on to say that heels dont behave like heels did in the attitude era (ie. Austin). This isnt about modern wrestlers not understanding their roles. Its modern creative writers not understanding the heels' roles. The writer used Alberto Del Rio as an example pointing out he was a good heel and a lousy face. That's true. But Del Rio is one of the biggest international stars there is. He knows how to be a face and a heel. WWE doesnt. This is sort of a yes & no. It's not so much an afterthought as it is passe and poorly written. Considering the amount of time and energy invested in the women in NXT and the time invested in the women on RAW since the "revolution", the division most certainly is not an afterthought. But its sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. They book it poorly but give it time...the audience rejects it...WWE says 'see, the fans dont care about women wrestling'. NXT proves they do. Its just lousy writing and passe characters and booking. When Sasha and Charlotte were called up, they should have dropped "Diva", replaced the purple butterfly belt and de-emphasized the Bella's. Instead, Nikki is John Cena's girlfriend so they retconned the angle to be a revolution started by the Bella's who were presented as the shining example of top notch women's wrestling. Bad, bad booking. Mostly yes. Vince is 70+ years old and stubborn. Its probably true to say he's less likely to relate to an 18-35 year old demographic than he was even 15-20 years ago. Vince's performance on RAW when they put Roman over shows he still understand how to get someone over. But the biggest issue with Vince is his reluctance to change creative. And its weird because switching out bookers every so often was a staple of the pro wrestling business since long before Vince was around. But that's the issue - WWE isn't pro wrestling. It's sports entertainment and Vince sees them as an entertainment conglomerate akin to Disney. So they add more and more creative members. When WWE exploded in the 80's the booker was George Scott. Then Pat Patterson. When WWE ushered in the Attitude era, the bookers were Vince Russo & Jim Cornette (with a few "lieutenants" like Pat Patterson and Bruce Prichard) with McMahon as the final word. Cornette was eventually dropped and Russo became head writer (bringing in his own lieutenant Ed Ferrara). When Russo jumped ship, Chris Kreski was promoted to head booker and was booker of record during WWE's highest rated and profitable time. Kreski was replaced when Vince promoted Steph and she ushered in the era of Hollywood writer and ratings began nose-diving. In every other era, when Vince would have made changes, he simply wouldnt when it came to Stephanie. And I think that once he got past the idea of never changing creative, its become a scenario where where they simply dont see it as a creative issue. But it is a creative issue. So the whole article would be more accurate if it had one category and simply said "Creative sucks". -

ANAHEIM – All signs point to Mark Scheifele returning to the Winnipeg Jets lineup on Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets announced on Sunday that they've activated the third-year centre from injured reserve after he missed the past four games with a concussion he sustained during a drill in practice in Boxing Day. In order to make room for Scheifele on the roster, the Jets reassigned forward Matt Halischuk to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Scheifele sits fifth on the Jets in scoring with 12 goals and 22 points in 34 games this season and it will be interesting to see where he slots into the lineup. Since Adam Lowry has done a good job playing between Andrew Ladd and Alex Burmistrov, it's possible that Jets head coach Paul Maurice will slide Scheifele in between Nikolaj Ehlers and Mathieu Perreault, who has done a nice job since shifting over to centre. -

Star Wars: The Force Awakens added another $88.3 million in its third weekend, topping the previous record for a third frame by 29%. This morning’s estimate brings the film’s domestic total to $740.2 million in 17 days. While that is an amazing feat, The Force saw a steeper drop (-40.8%) and that leaves it short of the all-time domestic box office record. Once again, the number to beat is $760.5 million, set by Avatarin 2010, and it looks like it will take Star Wars at least another day to reach that. All grosses reported by Disney since New Year’s Eve (Thursday) have been estimated rather than actual, but it’s safe to say that the studio would be thrilled to claim the record if it thought it had the numbers to back it up. As it is, waiting another day or two hardly diminishes the film’s box office achievements. Worldwide, The Force Awakens has earned $1.5 billion, though that does not include all international grosses from this weekend. At the moment the film stands at number seven in terms of global earnings – less than $6 million behind Furious 7. -
The word seems to be Drouin is not a good locker room guy. Whatever that implies. But he's 20. I would suspect the Jets would be in those talks. if they turn Ladd, Buff and some other spare parts into Drouin and Hamonic Id give Chevy a ten year extension.

I'm glad Armia is doing well. He was the most intriguing aspect of the kane trade for me. -
Tampa has to smart here. Guys want out. So be it. They can restock the cupboard if they trade wisely. Letting Stamkos go to UFA wouldn't be wise.

Hindsight being 20/20 we would be better off of Helle had started the season as the starter. But it is also true we'd be better off if a number of other things had happened. I I think the jets hAve a decent record 5v5. -

There was something in the book about her spending her time on Jakku studying languages including droid and various other races. I agree Rey needs to be someone but I've heard the counter opinion be that the force should be something wide in the galaxy and not reserved for the "royal" Skywalkers. I see that. But I want her to be a Skywalker. It's the Skywalker saga after all. -
Irrelevant at that point. Once the evidence has been poisoned that's reasonable doubt. Plus this wasn't like an urban yard. It was a huge compound and numerous people had access. There was no direct evidence linking the suspect other than his blood in her car which made no sense and was really fruit of the poisonous tree. Later they revealed the jury voted and it was 7-3 in favour of aquittal.
