I wonder if the Isles' injury issues re-opens the door to a Buff trade. Supposedly they would consider short-term defensive help.
-
If this is from H&L yesterday I heard part of it. I understand its smart business to say nothing but the interviews are generally worthless. Chevy wouldnt even concede that other teams are calling about Ladd & Buff.

Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Mathieu Perreault had back and chest pain after Sundays game: taken to hospital by ambulance, concern about his spleen. All ok. #NHLJets Perreault skated today.

I also pay to read Free Press articles that I feel are worth it. I was opposed to that at first but I dont buy papers anymore so if I do read a story, I dont mind paying the 27 cents. With the Sun, if I hit the 10 allowable Ill just google the headline and read the story from some other source. Could do that with the Free Press too.

He was home for Christmas with a few bookings in the US around that time. He's in tremendous shape, freaky fitness. I've been talking with him since last week trying to work out when his schedule and our schedule work out for a return. He was initially going to be back for most of March but he is now committed to ROH due to the relationship with New Japan. But we're hoping to run a show with him sometime that month. You should come check it out! I dont know how many more opportunities local fans will get to see him! -
Moose have a veteran back up, dont they? if they thought Comrie was being shelled, they could change goalies.

Thanks, makes sense. So Postma had to agree. And I see no reason why he wouldnt. He must be very frustrated and determined to either show the Jets he can do more or show other teams he's worth trading for,

It sounds like someone is going to crossover to the Dark Side. John Boyega is very excited for the next Star Wars installment with Rian Johnson at the helm. Of course, the tight-lipped English thespian merely teases Star Wars fans by saying that the next film will be like “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.” “[We’re] just starting work on ‘Star Wars VIII,’ the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again,” said Boyega to Vogue Magazine. “It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.” Of course, details will be lacking for the eighth movie. The only thing we know is that actor Benicio Del Toro will appear in the film (probably a villain). As for our former Stormtrooper of the Year, Boyega hinted he’ll face more action. “My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more,” he said. Shinsuke Nakamura will not be dropping the IC title to Kenny Omega after all. New Japan announced tonight that they are stripping Nakamura of the championship, and that Omega will face a mystery man in the main event of the New Beginnings in Niigata on February 14th to fill the vacancy. Nakamura will continue to appear on New Japan shows for the rest of the month, with his final match on the January 30th show at Korakuen Hall. That show will have an All-Star main event with Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Nakamura & Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii. New Japan starts back on Sunday with the Fantastica Mania tour. Nakamura becomes the second major champion of a foreign promotion who has headed to WWE without dropping the title on the way out, following Alberto Del Rio, the AAA champion, not doing so in October. There will be, and should be, a lot of heat on WWE for this if they are preventing a title drop. Nak is making appearances so he could drop the title unless he is refusing. The only other possibility is New Japan wanting the title match to be a big part of their Feb 14th show and Nak wont be there. But there was heat on WWE for Del Rio not dropping a title. Im sure WWE's position is that these promotions should have guys on better contracts. But professionally its a really sleazy thing to do, if WWE is influencing guys not to drop titles. In fact, not only should they not influence guys to leave without dropping, they should actively encourage guys to do so. If Im these other promotions, I'd start adding items to the contract to specifically hinder WWE. -
Either is possible but I immediately thought it was to make sure Postma was ready for a potential trade himself. What are the rules around a conditioning stint? The Jets would have to waive him to send him down otherwise, so how are they able to send him down for "conditioning", how long can he stay and how many times per season can you do that?

#Isles will be without Travis Hamonic (lower) for next 2-3 weeks, Newsday has learned.

Im only about an hour in to raw and its atrocious. Jericho's schtick is awful is there no man that won't cower at the feet of Steph? Good God. And the WWE title has never been at stake in the Royal Rumble? Tell that to Ric Flair. Sting in the HOF. Well I guess he's retired. What a legacy. Goes to wwe and loses his only two PPV matches. Thanks E! Kalisto is good. Segments with half the roster on the stage are never good. When you group low card and mid card guys with the supposed stars like that all you do is tell the audience that no one matters, that they're all geeks. And the real stars are Vince and Steph. Brock is gigantic. -
The Prequels ruin the Originals in many ways because they remove a lot of the surprises and the specialness of them. So in that regard, they fail as a "saga". So yes, watching in order of release makes sense. You get the great story of the Originals and then the Prequels are sort of filling in the blanks.

@Logan - exactly. Kids movie. Well, I think Lucas might have meant to make a kids movie but his dialogue and plotting was so awful... I just read a story online about how Lucas *almost* got them right. Ill try to find it. It basically said that with a few tweaks, the prequels could have worked. Something along the lines of the "balance" of the Force being an actual balance between the dark and light and because the Jedi had grown so powerful and strict and dogmatic in their beliefs that the force was out of balance. Anakin was constantly fighting the dark inside of himself and trying to reject it due to Jedi training. What saved the Jedi was Luke was much like Anakin except learned to keep the dark and light in balance. Basically look at the Jedi as the bad guys in the prequels. EDIT: Here it is: http://www.gamesradar.com/george-lucas-nearly-wrote-perfect-prequel-trilogy-he-just-didnt-seem-notice/

Nope, TPM is not "fanboys blowing things out of whack". Its universally disliked. I watched it in December and nearly turned it off after ten minutes. Revenge of the Sith is only "better" because of Palpatine and the actor chewing scenery (highly entertaining) and finally getting the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan, even though it was a lousy fight.

Ed Tait ✔ @WFPEdTait The #NHLJets also announce that Paul Postma has been assigned to the Manitoba Moose on a conditioning stint. Has played in just two games Ed Tait ✔ @WFPEdTait #NHLJets Paul Maurice: Perreault OK; Scheifele had tests done aft pr-game skate - didn't like results; could be out for a week Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Perreault "probable" for tomorrow, but Scheifele out another 5-7 days, according to Paul Maurice. #NHLJets

Chevy's biggest test will be handling the UFA's. He's done a good job. Scouting has been good. Drafting has been good. The deals he has made have been unoffensive (waiver wire pick ups etc) and the one blockbuster deal he made looks great. His contract negotiations have been mostly a win, perhaps Enstrom (his first) was a bit too too much, but he locked up the core long term. Even the contract he got Kane under was good especially considering Kane wanted out of Winnipeg and he still locked him up long term. As far as looking at the Jets and management after five years, the UFA contracts and even the RFA's this year because they are 3-4 "future core" guys could be the deciding factor as to whether its been a win or a loss.

It doesnt matter if he makes $100 million. That has little to do with his physical well being. And little to do with his mental well being, other than perhaps adds pressure to him. As fans we can get frustrated and wish a player would "just do his job" but this isnt like showing up to the office and making sure you put cover sheets on all the new TPS Reports before they go out.

UPDATE: @VanCanucks confirm the team is exploring trade options for F Chris Higgins #TradeCentre

You're making statements as if you can say for sure. None of us are Hutch's or Ladd's psychologist. If you get rid of every player who goes through a confidence issue or faces emotional or mental adversity tjrn you'd be getting rid of a lot of players. This isn't how you feel playing road hockey with your friends. These are elite athletes playing at the highest levels. Ofcourse there are mental issues just as there are physical ones. I don't know of Hutch would benefit from increased playing time at a level he excelled at with the idea of rebuilding his confidence and mental sharpness. But it's a reasonable hypothesis. To pretend it isn't is just silly. To dismiss anyone's emotional or mental issues as you did is silly and unfair. Many people go through mental adversity. Why should professional athletes be any different? Because they have money?

It's not that people don't appreciate cena. He's just booked so poorly. It's not him. It's what he represents tjay fans are rejecting. He's been a baby face since 2004. Even hogan was moved out of the mix after six years. Austin and Rock certainly weren't on top for 12 years. As for Joe Hennig he was developed poorly. He got into the game late, deciding to try wrestling after his father died. In developmental he was told to be a Mr Perfect clones. Same moves. Same personal. Then he gets called up and told not to do any Mr Perfect stuff. And they saddled him with the McGillicutty name. They Screwed him.
