As soon as he asks for his list, it's probably "out there". I imagine they'd get serious with a team or two before asking for the list.

The TV Thread
(CNN)Steven Avery, the subject of the popular Netflix documentary series "Making a Murderer," wants to be released from prison while the Wisconsin Court of Appeals considers his latest challenge to his 2007 murder conviction. Avery filed two motions Monday alleging violations of due process rights in his prosecution for the 2005 rape and murder of photographer Teresa Halbach, according to CNN affiliate WBAY. Avery is serving a life sentence for her death. Avery wrote and filed his appeal before noted defense attorney Kathleen Zellner took on his case. One of the motions claims a search warrant executed on the property was invalid, meaning evidence from the search should have been inadmissible. The second motion claims a juror pressured others into voting guilty. The motion seeks a stay of enforcement of the judgment and release on bond. If the court decides to vacate Avery's conviction based on his claims, prosecutors would have to decide whether to retry him without the impermissible evidence. Ken Kratz, who was the Calumet County district attorney and the lead prosecutor in the case, shared his thoughts with WBAY. "I'm disappointed that Mr. Avery's appellate lawyers are allowing him to continue to file pleadings with the court on his own - that's what lawyers are hired to do," he said. "And this appears to be an example of Mr. Avery doing exactly what he wants to and when he wants to do it." ****Kratz's comments are interesting. He definitely isnt speaking in favour of Avery. While using lawyers is always wiser, its strange he'd feel Avery shouldnt be allowed to exercise his rights as a citizen. Kratz is a creepy jerk anyway.

Around The League Off Season Discussion
Everyone gets enthusiastic when the season starts. "This is our year, no really, *this* is our year" is the mantra of Winnipeg sports fans.

SHARKS AT JETS JAN. 12, 2016
It's interesting because H&L were discussing this yesterday and made a point about Maurice saying that you can tell the type of game they will have by what Ladd does in his first shift or two. So does Ladd's reduction in play, speed, hitting this season have that much of an impact on everyone else? Also, it seemed there was more enthusiasm last season at this time as they battled for their first playoff spot...maybe? I dont know... It does seem there is less urgency. I guess it can be hard to get back on the rails if you've fallen off them, especially when you're a team without the talent to win despite your own poor play.

If they trade ladd I don't see him re signing here in the off season.

I'm sure they bought a lot. Plus there are NHL initiatives to help with the dollar. The dollar is always going to fluctuate. They knew that. I'm not too worried about it.

SHARKS AT JETS JAN. 12, 2016
Don't want to think it was malicious. Only other thing is incompetence. Not only incidental contact but the fact the goalie Reacted like he took a canon ball to the chest. For that dive alone the goal should have stood. Refs was made a fool of.

SHARKS AT JETS JAN. 12, 2016
Chevy might know. But the jets still aren't out of it. So you never know. He probably knows it's not last year. But if the jets are in a playoff spot at the deadline IT could change things. if they are way out of it though it should mean a bigger youth movement.

Good. If he gets fined we should all pay it. Captain Wheeler said what everyone else is thinking.

I hope Bettman was watching that atrocious penalty call. What about the dive? What about throwing his stick? Ridiculous.

Id love for one of our players just let loose on these Refs. I'll donate to fine fund. It's hard to be an NHL fan with garbage like this.

SHARKS AT JETS JAN. 12, 2016
Okay. This jets getting called for everything thing is beyond a joke now. If there is no goal there is no call. That's a ref taking a goal from the jets.

You can't underpay because of the dollar. Otherwise the canadian teams might as well fold. There are many mechanisms to handle low dollar including hedging. Jets will be fine and will pay fair market value for the players they want.

Im all for public investment to a degree because the public benefits. But billionaire owners cant go hat in hand and expect to have the public foot the bill. I like TN's deal to build MTSC. The provincial contributions were long recouped through increased taxes years ago. It made sense and the owners still contributed a large amount of money. And continue to contribute a large amount to upgrade the facility.

Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania
Definitely there is a segment of fans watching for the work now. Those fans who are excited about AJ and Nak coming in, that love NXT etc. Or you have fans that dont care so much about the matches and just enjoy the angles. I might be in that category. I generally FF through RAW and just watch the angles or a match I might think is interesting or potentially a great match. I watch more for the "why" and "how" they do things from a production/creative stand point. Im not the target audience though because Im probably seeing things a bit different than most having been in the business for nearly 15 years. I actually think they try too hard to have long matches on RAW. RAW should be angles and shorter matches. There should always be someone having squash matches to get over. Someone who has done the squash matches and is now having 6 minute matches with decent, but not top guys (used to call these guys Jobber To The Stars, think Barry Borrowitz). Even "good" matches can be 8-10 minutes long. Save the epic matches for the PPV's where there is more heat and interest and fans are more likely to be invested in longer matches. TV doesnt have to be Russo-era "throw everything at the wall" crash TV style. But it doesnt have to be a 3 hour snooze fest either. WWE is stuck in a formula. On local comparison, the last couple of shows I booked, I sent the runsheet to a couple of trusted lieutenants and asked them for feedback on "punching" the show up, because I didnt want to seem like I was formulaic. WWE needs someone taking what they have and jazzing it up. They need an Tarrantino-style uncredited rewrite of their scripts!

That's true. Im sure you know we're speaking about the storyline. Because you're remark could apply to any movie, tv show etc. In other words, its somewhat silly.

Ehlers is a rookie. If he could go to the Moose, however, they would have sent him there already.

Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania
What WWE agenda? At the beginning of RAW, they were careful to refer to this year as Roman "defending" the title in the Rumble for the first time. However, she later said it was the first time the title was up for stakes in the Rumble. Which is not true. Presumably a mis-stated line by Steph. But she should not be mis-stating lines like that. And if they're going to be so careful about how they word it, it demonstrates their reluctance to embrace their own past. They should have prepared a video package about Flair's rumble victory (especially since he was on the show...they could have done a brief backstage face to face) to imply how how rare this is and how Flair went in #3 and won, thus showing how difficult but not impossible it is.

I wonder if the Isles' injury issues re-opens the door to a Buff trade. Supposedly they would consider short-term defensive help.
