Id love to trade buff for a big package and then resign him in the off season. I know it's very unlikely but buff strikes me as a guy who would entertain the idea if he prefers to be here.

As far as standing outside watching hockey I believe it's modelled after similar projects in other NHL cities like Toronto. I could be wrong but I doubt Leafs fans are standing around in January. Its more for Stanley cup playoff overflow. Maybe Olympics. Things like that. But what do I know! massive investment by True North (Chipman and Thomson families). Good on them. I wonder why Thomson wasn't in on Alt and Glasshouse....

I once snapped at two old ladies who wouldn't stop talking behind me. It was conversational talking. Like the film had text saying "ohio" and the old birds would say "oh how nice! I once visited Ohio!" "Oh you did? When was that?" Yadda yadda yadda. i gave them the look a couple times. Finally had enough, turned around and exclaimed "shhhhhhhhhhh, for **** sake!" They got up and left. I felt bad.

I like that someone pointed out on Twitter that in the true north square video there are no 16 & 33 jerseys. Lol

Yeah they've both been gone for a long time. Jim Ross has cooperated with WWE from time to time. He's either the most patient man in wrestling history or a glutton for punishment as WWE has been very cruel and unfair to him over the years and he always went back. Greatest play by play announcer of all time. -
This John Scott thing is ridiculous. This is what happens when you let fans "decide". The worst part is the NHL's involvement with the trade as an excuse to get rid of him. Why do a fan vote if you wont respect the results? If anything this will spur copycat attempts next year. The NHL should have quietly spoken to Scott and had him politely decline to go to the game. Then the credibility of the game, for whatever its worth, would be preserved and fans would likely not try a repeat.

WWE Hall-of-Famer, longtime broadcaster, and podcast host Jim Ross confirmed Tuesday with Fox Sports that he will be returning to the broadcast booth for the newest NJPW on AXS TV season, starting on Friday, March 4th. Ross replaces Mauro Ranallo, who recently started with WWE and is now the lead voice of Smackdown. Color commentator, past NJPW competitor, and UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett will remain on the team. Ross told Fox that he will head to Los Angeles between 8-10 times a year to do his play-by-play for two-day sessions where they will record six shows at a time, beginning with action from Wrestling Dontaku 2015. The duo will also call matches from the 2015 New Japan Cup, Invasion Attack, HINOKUNI, Best of the Super Juniors 22, Dominion 7.5, G1 Climax 25 and more. This isn't Ross' first time calling NJPW action as he and Matt Striker were the American announce team for Wrestle Kingdom 9 in 2015. ***This will probably make WWE interested in bringing Ross back... -

I dont think the Jets are a playoff team this year or next. If they re-sign Ladd & Buff that signals an intent to try to be a playoff team next year. But I certainly have no issue with the Jets making a different decision to go young and let those guys grow together. Another one step back, two steps forward scenario. And even if thats the case, I dont think our remaining veterans (Little, Wheeler, Stafford, Toby etc) are being wasted because I think they are good examples to the youth, Wheeler especially, about what Jets hockey should be. And ultimately, if we go young, a "rebuild" you might say, and take the one step back, two steps forward approach, I think there comes a time, maybe in 2 years, maybe 3, where those steps forward happen pretty rapidly. And guys like Wheeler and Little probably reap the benefits, or reap what they sow in a sense as the veteran guys on a young team that will consistently contend. We were spoiled to a degree by last season. Some people think we should have gone full rebuild when the team arrived. I dont agree because its too easy to play hindsight game. And would we really be glad to not have Wheeler here? I think management saw the dual core (the Atlanta Five and the upcoming youth) and thought we could make a go of it sooner than later. And maybe we surprise people next season even with a youth movement. -

I dont disagree. But Ehlers was penciled into a top six role and has certainly been in that position at various times this season. One could argue that if Ehlers had AHL eligibility, he would have been Petan'ed at some point and that probably true. But he also shows fairly consistent "flashes" of being good enough for the role he's in. And one could argue Connor is better or more well rounded. With a weak Left Wing, I cant see Connor being in the bottom six for long. Sure, let's assume Ladd and Perreault both re-sign. Is it possible next season sees the LW depth chart as Ladd, Perreault, Connor? And if so, how long is Connor third on that depth chart? In a perfect world, you resign Ladd and make Connor take his job away and enjoy an embarrassment of riches. But this being the Jets, there is a likelihood of, all things being equal, they would prefer not to pay Ladd $6m for 5 years if Connor is going to take his job in two years. I guess the better option is having these veterans like Toby, Ladd, Buff, Little even, have expiring contracts when their "replacements" are in need of new contracts so the transition is financially seamless. And to an extent they have that with Toby off the books in two years (which works if Trouba signs a 2 year bridge deal). I'd be cautious about long term deals for Ladd and Buff though...especially with talent coming from the minors/junior. -

If I knew for a fact Ladd was hampered by the injury and all he needs is a solid 2-3 months to be back in tip top form, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. But as Wheeler gets better and better and Little continues to be an unsung hero, Ladd looks more out of place on the top line. Look what happened when he was moved down to the 3rd line - he seemed to excel. Are you signing a 3LW to $6m per year? And if Ladd is struggling to hold on to the 1LW now, how will he look in Year 3 or 4 of a 5-6 year deal? I have advocating signing him in the past feeling he is likely to always be a strong contributor as he slides down the roster (ie. being a strong 1LW, then 2LW, then 3LW on a hopefully contending Jets team) but that means getting paid like a guy on the downside of his career, not the prime. If Kyle Connor is here next here, then he's arguably pushing for a top six LW role. You still have Ehlers, you still have Perrerault (only one more year but I would hope he is re-signed this year and not fall into the Chevy game of cat and mouse). Sure you can keep Ehlers and Connor playing down the roster as first contract guys, but should that be a consideration? Or should the best players play in the best positions? Im not sure Ladd beats out Ehlers or Connor in a year or two. -

Isnt it amazing? With 50 writers they cant keep track of who's a face and who's a heel. I think its more about rehabilitating Show for the 127th time heading into the Rumble. The fans dont care. All it does is bring down whomever he's working with. Social Outcasts suck to be sure but you just put them together and they are being squashed by Big Show. They dont even have a chance. Same thing with Paige. The heat was on her when Nattie got hurt, so they have Nattie bring her back? Idiocy. How about Vince not being able to open the lottery balls? The "Authority" might be the single most damaging aspect to wrestling today. From the big things like their segments/promos often dying slow deaths and no one having the guts to tell them, to the little things like Steph wearing six inch heels to make sure she's taller than half the roster. Jericho has the stroke to script his own promos and managed to get the line "Sort of like I know what Im doing" in a sarcastic way to Steph which was nice. And ofcourse she does her best to leave the segment with Jericho's balls in her purse. Jericho and Heyman were both characteristically poor in their segment later. Thats what happens when two smart guys try to make sense of crap. And what a winner of a segment heading into the Royal Rumble. The top babyface (Brock) and WWE's heir apparent (Roman) both left laying by a mid card act that has been treading water for months. -

The business was different back then. Money was made at the live events (house shows) . Later it was house shows and PPV. TV was solely to promote those and to get people to pay to see them. So if you wanted to see a marquee match or a feud you had to pay for it traditionally, promotions provided their TV shows to local stations (and later cable) for free. They'd have the same show but customize commentary or more commoy create customized "interviews" where the stars plugged their match in every upcoming town. One way WWE attacked their territorial rivals was to pay the stations to air their TV, thus freezing the other promotions out. It wasn't until the attitude era that TV rights fees became a big thing and changed the wrestling business. In fact, for most of WCW's existence they provided TV to TBS for free. When eric Bischoff took over he convinced Turner that they should be paying for it as if they were a regular content provider. -

I can't speak for current. But id suspect this will be better due to what will be surrounding it as well as, I'm sure, security and police beinf pro active. This is a huge investment by private business and a significant investment by government and could easily have a profound affect on downtown.
