  1. Well then this is just silly.
  2. Apparently that was it. A ton of money spend on the Ikea location. If I recall, they owe about $6.8M. So its not impossible to come back from.
  3. River City Sports is having major financial problems. River City Sports to close the Kildonan Place, St Vital Stores and the 2 stores in Saskatchewan. River City Sports will keep the Polo Park location open and move back to its old location on Henderson Hwy. The online division will still operate.
  4. A little more fun to do in August. But, I dont see Armia on the top line whatsoever (and Im an Armia fan). And even Connor, I dont think the Jets pencil him in for a top line role that quick. If anyone from the Moose make the team, it's Petan, not Kossie. Lipon...maybe but with Burmi and Armia, they will beat him out for the bottom winger spot first. Lemieux doesnt make the team next season. If Morrissey if the #1 LHD, there is a problem. And that bottom pairing? Yikes. Thats three turnovers on D when the Jets have lots of D already. Not gonna happen. You're predicting they trade Buff but keep Ladd and while doing that dont bring in Hamonic. Comrie aint gonna be the Jets backup next season. If this is the line up, we're going to get another top pick next season.
  5. I believe suffered from serious stuttering and worked to overcome it. So when he struggles a bit its that infliction that he is overcoming. If you know anyone who suffers it's pretty awful. Buck has worked hard to overcome it.
  6. You can here. Or at least you used to. I got my box from the provider but I know they were for sale at local stores. But it was the same price. The store was just an authorized seller for the cable provider.
  7. Like Armia's development. Keeps playing like this it makes even more of a mockery out of the kane trade.
  8. I agree but the upside for Trouba is greater. That's the risk. He might never reach that potential. If he does then keeping him is the right call. But you never know. Plus the other factors of someone who might want to leave or make demands versus someone who wants to be here. And ham is a great player with a great contract. It might be worth having a lesser player at a lesser deal be part of a better core group long term.
  9. Great point Goalie. Edmonton ignored D. They could be a lot further ahead. Then again they got McDavid. Jets are bigger and tougher. If both teams become contenders around the same time I like our ad and goalies for the win.
  10. Five years for Buff rather than six would be tremendous.
  11. Lawless: Most nights in the NHL, all eyes are on Dustin Byfuglien when he’s on the ice. He’s used to the attention of hockey fans. Right now, however, add 30 GMs and endless agents who are also focused on Big Buff and what decision he reaches on his future. Count Winnipeg Jets captain and teammate Andrew Ladd in this group as well. Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and Byfuglien’s agent Ben Hankinson are working on reaching a contract extension which would keep the defenceman in Winnipeg for several years going forward. Most guesses have the Jets and Hankinson discussing a five-year term with an annual average value north of $7-million. Talks have increased in regularity over the last few days and there now seems to be a sense of urgency to reach a conclusion. If a deal is going to be worked out, it could happen in the next week. With the trade deadline set for Feb. 29, time is getting scarce. The Jets need an answer. And that answer will create a ripple effect across the NHL. The Jets need to know where they stand. Cheveldayoff’s phone continues to ring and teams say his message right now is his focus is on signing Byfuglien and until there is clarity on that front, the future of Ladd can’t be discussed. Byfuglien, and his decision to stay in Winnipeg or wait and go to free agency in July, is holding up a lot of people. Cheveldayoff will be prepared for a number of scenarios. The most likely, he signs Byfuglien and then looks for resolution on Ladd. Talks between the Jets and Ladd have been very quiet for some time. But Cheveldayoff will likely make one more effort to retain his captain. But it will be at Winnipeg’s price and there won’t be a lot of time or room for negotiation. If Ladd doesn’t accept what the Jets are prepared to offer, it will be time to move. Cheveldayoff will put Ladd on the market at that moment and attempt to bring back assets in exchange for a two-time Stanley Cup champion. Teams will want Ladd, even in a rental capacity. What if Byfuglien, having heard there is interest from teams such as Florida, Chicago and Los Angeles, decides he wants to move on. Then Cheveldayoff could find himself in position to deal both his No. 1 defenceman and his captain. The Jets GM could be very busy. There is also a scenario, where having signed Byfuglien to big dollar and long-term deal, that the budget-operated Jets elect for more cost certainty on the blue line. Third year man Jacob Trouba is the final year of his entry-level contract and will be a restricted free agent with no arbitration rights. His agent Kurt Overhardt is aggressive and will be pursuing a long-term contract with a hefty AAV. New York Islanders GM Garth Snow reportedly wanted Trouba when he first approached the Jets about granting Manitoba native Travis Hamonic’s request to be traded to a team closer to home. Hamonic is in the third year of a seven-year contract with an AAV of $3.9 million. Many consider Trouba an untouchable but the combination of a locked up Byfuglien and Hamonic’s team friendly contract could alter that status. Snow might be reluctant to part with a controlled asset such as Hamonic but Trouba’s upside could be attractive. Cheveldayoff isn’t limited to just the Islanders if he does elect to make Trouba available because of contract concerns and he isn’t under any time constraint on this front. But budget is always a concern for the Jets GM and with both Trouba and centre Mark Scheifele in line for major raises, he has to consider all options. For now, it all comes back to Buff. He’s the first domino. Once he falls, the others will begin to tip. With the Jets tied for the least amount of points in the NHL as of Saturday morning, it’s unlikely there will be any playoff hockey in Manitoba this spring. The most hockey excitement on the Prairies will take place over the next month.
  12. I'm all for edmonton winning not getting a good draft pick
  13. I was against trading trouba but lawless made it make a lot of sense. Sure he might end up way better than Hamonic but he also might not. And Hamonic is a lot better right now. Still going. Great ckntract. And wants to be here. If you have other high end D men then it starts to make sense. Losing Trouba sucks but if it means Hamonic is coming in then it sucks a lot less.
  14. Whoops. Yes that's what I means. But it sounds like everyone either read it as "wins" or assumed im a goofball. But then again we now exist in a sports world where losing is winning....at least for our team.
  15. Jackets lose and Jets are officially tied for last place in the league
  16. Someone here said Stu is married to a TN employee. He's "family" and tenacious. He won't go. Thorbs ain't going either and I'm fine with him as the 13th forward. But really a guy like Armia has shown what that 12th spot is supposed to be. And I still like Burmi. He's cheap.
  17. You're right ofcourse. I was thinking Stone Cold when I wrote that.
  18. Kinda the ideal scenario right now. Play well but lose close. Get Austin.
  19. This team will win their final ten games. Just to screw up the tank.
  20. One top three pick could make all the difference from the jets being a good young team with potential to a great young team that will dominate.
  21. I dknt get caught up in coaching too much because Maurice ain't going anywhere no matter what. I would like to know some of his decision making though. It seems a lot of coaches revert to what their used to or what used to work when there is adversity such as this team used to always go right back to LLW was Ehlers playing poorly, perhaps coach punishing him by taking him off that line. i could also see a veteran coaching saying millionaire pro athletes need to self motivate and be prepared. Everyone on that team knows it's over. What do they have to play for? Pride. Some lack in that area.
  22. It doesn't have to be an either or choice.
  23. I would argue that that perception ignores the fact that those issues are important to many people. Certainly hard to argue that gar marriage, for example, isnt impactful to many.
