  1. I read these books when I was a kid and loved the old TV series. I vote for melissa Gilbert to play Mrs Ingalls (The Hollywood Reporter)The "Little House on the Prairie" movie project has landed at Paramount. The adaptation of the iconic TV series was previously in development at Sony, which picked it up in 2012 with Scott Rudin attached to produce. The title was put into turnaround last year.
  2. I generally agree. Just thinking of by next February the jets aren't scoring a lot he might be retained. Our scoring will rely on going players getting better. Next season might be too soon for a vast improvement.
  3. Gee I wonder what the Kings would have parted with of they valued him that much.
  4. Does stafford still count as part of the trade now since he was a UFA?
  5. I keep going back to Tampa and Drouin...
  6. Connor, Ehlers, Lemiuex and one of Ladd/Perreault are likely the projected LW for the next X amount of years (Lemieux being the X factor as to whether he plays next season or the season after. Not bad... With Wheeler and hopefully Armia continuing to get better on the RW. Plus potentially Petan and Roslovic. Stafford being 30 might get an extension, 1-2 years at a good price if he wants to stay here.
  7. Maybe gives us a discount for being the team that went after him originally. hopefully! But I agree, not much over $4m I think. He does a lot but its not like he's scoring 30 goals.
  8. I believe he was originally a centre who was switched to Wing. Easier to be a center who plays wing then a wing who plays center.
  9. Ducky - they will not, ever, retrofit 30 arenas and tear out the most expensive seats to make the ice bigger. Period. Never gonna happen. You might as well suggest they get rid of the ice and play with roller blades because that has a better likelihood of happening.
  10. There was a study done that showed some huge number of shots hit the post. So if you increased the nets by an amount barely noticeable, it likely makes a strong enough impact to be noticeable on the scoresheet. Also, there is a way to shape the posts so pucks are deflected in and not out. I'd at least try it. But the NHL is something that so many people hang their nostalgia hat on and hate change. They hated when the area behind the net was increased. Now no one cares. They hated when the red line was taken away. Now no one cares. They hated when the instigator was dropped. Well maybe they care about that. But as Shrek once said, Change is good, Donkey.
  11. Also, as it pertains to WWE specifically, you have to take their concern with a grain of salt. Their doctor in particular has never been a supporter of CTE and historically would be less likely to hold someone out due to concussions. So you could say Bryan was so bad even this doctor wouldnt clear him. Or you might say it was political on WWE's part. The same WWE that lets Tommy Dreamer and the Dudley's wrestler on a regular basis.
  12. Yeah but its not really that simple. He took many tests and passed them all. He took one test and failed and it scared him enough to retire. Imagine we find out in ten years that the test was not accurate? Common sense tells us that multiple concussions arent good. You become more susceptible to sustaining concussions in the future. And those of us who have had multiples know how poor you feel in the aftermath. I guess the previous belief has always been that if you heal from a concussion, you're healed. The issue is repeated concussions causing CTE. The problem with CTE is that 1) you cant diagnose it until death (tests are coming though) and 2) it doesnt impact everyone the same way. Evidence of brain injury in the behaviors of athletes who later are shown to have CTE vary and are mostly anecdotal because we cant say if one guy acting differently is due to CTE and repeated concussions or because of his innate personality. In fact, a former NHL tough guy killed himself at 43 and it was just revealed testing showed he did NOT have CTE, a result sure to surprise his family. I read a study that linked CTE to a mix of concussions and steroid use. So the idea being if you arent a steroid user, then repeated concussions wont impact you as negatively as others. When X amount of "CTE" cases show little to know drastic changes and others show wild changes, what can we take away from that? Right now, we cant say repeated concussions WILL cause CTE and we cant say CTE WILL cause you to be depressed, suicidal, angry, murderous etc. This needs major study. And the pro sports leagues should be pouring money into it because the results might benefit them. Where you have some retired players now claiming "if we knew the risks we would never have played", you might one day have players saying "if we knew the risks werent as bad as everyone said we would have played longer".
  13. (CNN)A planned anti-Beyonce rally is being countered with calls for the singer's supporters to get in "Formation." Those in support of #BoycottBeyonce are being asked to gather outside the headquarters of the National Football League in New York City at 8 a.m. on February 16, according to a posting on Eventbrite. "Are you offended as an American that Beyoncé pulled her race-baiting stunt at the Superbowl?" the invitation asks. "Do you agree that it was a slap in the face to law enforcement?" "Come and let's stand together," the notice says. "Let's tell the NFL we don't want hate speech & racism at the Superbowl ever again!" But that invitation sparked a call for a counterprotest, asking Beyonce supporters to also show up. "When Black women affirm Blackness/Black womanhood, they are attacked and silenced," says the posting, which invites women to dress in outfits inspired by the "Formation" video or the Super Bowl performance. "This is a counter protest to ... a racist, ahistorical attack on the Black Panther Party and Beyonce, plus an excuse to celebrate a very awesome song and #BlackGirlMagic moment." The controversy began when the singer dropped her music video for her song "Formation" on Saturday. In the song Beyonce speaks of her heritage with lyrics such as "My daddy Alabama/ Momma Louisiana/ You mix that ***** with that Creole/ Make a Texas bamma" and declares, "I like my baby hair, with baby hair and Afros/ I like my ***** nose with Jackson Five nostrils." The video, which pays homage to New Orleans and includes references to Hurricane Katrina's devastating aftermath, also features a scene of a young African-American boy wearing a hoodie before a line of police officers while the words "Stop shooting us" appear on a wall.
  14. *Sigh* Please lets not debate ice size. Its a red herring the NHL trots out through some GM or another to take the heat off the REAL changes they should be making. Yeah, bigger ize would be nice. No, 30 NHL arena's arent going to rip out the most expensive seats to accommodate it. NOT HAPPENING. Size of goalie equipment is a good start. Size of goalies is the other issue. You cant increase the size of the ice and you cant shrink the size of players. Anyone who looks at hockey 20+ years ago and sees the difference in size of HUMANS playing in the NHL from then to now can easily see that players are bigger making ice smaller and nets smaller. Cant change the ice. Cant change the player. Shrink the equipment and increase the net. Done.
  15. I know. Because the NHL is stupid.
  16. Just wait til they increase the size of the net by 2 inches. He will be a 50 goal man.
  17. Thats a long suspension. Missing WrestleMania. But that was a stupid thing for Titus to do. Its too bad as I like Titus.
  18. Interesting discussion on 1290 this morning as it pertains to Ladd. It *was* ladd or Buff. Is it now, Ladd or Perreault? Troy Westwood @TroyWestwood Perreault 1 yr left at 3M. Last 2 years PTS/GM Perr .65 Ladd .69, CF% Perr 57.3 Ladd 53. Both will get north of 5M. Perr 2 years younger. I think Perreault might be the more key signing. When I watch him play I just think he's often times the straw stirring the drink. I'd lock Perreault up long term. And if signing Ladd meant losing Perreault, I wouldnt like that at all.
  19. If Jets pick 1st overall, they will choose Matthews for sure. After that, perhaps a LHD. But if there is a sure-fire forward, you pick the best talent and then trade other assets to shore up weak points. Morrissey's development and Toby having another year (or is it two) gives them time to decide on their Left Hand D, especially if Trouba remains there. Glad to see Armia doing well. I remember when that trade happened and everyone was talking about Lemieux and I read up a bit on Armia and saw he was compared to Selanne without the top end skill. Places called him a sleeper pick etc. What a fleecing that trade was... EDIT: What did Chevy say regarding Ladd??
  20. You're not the only one, but man there is a lot of flip flopping. Its hilarious to watch Twitter after a win versus a loss. The pysche of the fanbase goes from "this team sucks and needs to fire everyone and trade everyone and draft Auston" to "this team is so good and hard to play against and if they get in the playoffs look out".
  21. they can't even win at tanking.
  22. No. Not all prequels are the same just bexajse they take place before TOS. Although Enterpise's concept was the best idea they ever had. Just lousy execution.
