  1. Looking forward to a home n' away against a team with a much older roster...can call it the Bingo Bowl.
  2. They're like Bathroom Readers, only without the need for paper or privacy.
  3. On the rivalry front; the lack of stability within our own conference has been a huge difference maker for us. If the BB hadn't floated back and forth between West-East...(has it been 2 or 3 times)? we would have maintained our traditional primary rivalry with Sasky. If you were to poll the 30-40 year old Rider fans, I bet many would identify Calgary or Edmonton as their main rival. To me it is because they (and we) found a different enemy when we moved out of the western division. You can't maintain a decades long rivalry unless there is continuity over the generations.
  4. I actually feel a little skeezy bringing this up because I believe charity looks best when it's anonymous. However, when I hear about "Canada's Team" and the "Best Fans in the League"....and then I notice where they sit next to others regarding the Purolater tackle hunger initiative.....I have to shake my head. BTW kudos to the Tabbies!
  5. 1981; Alouettes stroll into Wpg Stadium with a bevy of NFL stars (Vince Ferragamo, David Overstreet, and White Shoes Johnson.) Ralph Brock says "sorry...not today" and eviscerates them 58-2. PS 1981 Wpg rookie of the year.....Pete Catan
  6. Sounds like a cross between a vampire attack and a Taylor Swift concert
  7. My thought also. Although, if as Atomic says, the league is paying special attention...well then, time to unlearn that technique.
  8. Travis Bond: Hands to the face penalty. By my count this is the fourth one this year. What's up with that?
  9. I have a couple of questions for the Mods. This is not criticism, but honest questioning. I'm sure this has come up in the past, but I'd like it if someone could give me the rationale for editing certain language out of thread responses. Is it simply because we are a family site? Are we required to monitor language in order to maintain this status? Are specific words automatically replaced by asterisks or is this done manually? If automatic; how is it that some sneak through? (I read a post with an F-bomb embedded the other day. It was refreshing). In my world, specific language is much less horrifying than some of the inflammatory or hairbrained ideas that many of us come up with. (My Willy for Durant trade thread, for example). Besides, I'm tired of trying to act like Alan Turing in order to decipher what 17 to 85 is saying, by counting the asterisks and replacing them with letters.
  10. Rod Pedersen @rodpedersen New Rider DT Khalif Mitchell feels he can play Sunday in LDC. Says he's been farming, far harder than football. 3:08 PM - 31 Aug 2016 -Here you go Rider marketing department: "Farming, far harder than football" would be flying off the shelves in Sasky if printed on XXL women's t-shirts, combine bumper stickers, and dripping melon helmets. Billboards near all Orthodontics clinics should also be emblazoned.
  11. Travis Bond comes from a long line of football player/actors. Here's Rosey Grier and Ray Milland (as Joe Mack) in a classic.
  12. 4. Best Performance in a Supporting Role Travis Bond - His performance as a diving Cristiano Ronaldo against John Bowman to gain the first of two penalties was beautiful. By extension, it may even result in Bowman getting fined by the league for referee criticism...Take a bow Travis.
  13. Saw Big Sugar there before they broke. ..second loudest show I've ever experienced
  14. Damn straight....Celebrated my 18th birthday at the Pandora in the 80's. Still pulling shrapnel out of me arse
  15. Also at today's practice, Darvin Adams was no longer wearing a sling on his left arm. He did seem to be protecting it a bit, but showed no sign of discomfort when he was hucking twenty yard passes with his right arm, to #12 & #7.
  16. McDuffie looked anything but useless at today's practice. The most noticeable drop was by Denmark. Now that's a guy who is useless!
  17. Like it or leave it, the writer provides fairly in-depth rationale for his decisions. There aren't too many that do. Also, it's the first time I've read an actual assessment of Foketi's play. I paid little attention to him during the game and thought that because we ran the ball well and gave up no sacks that he must have been decent. I think that generally, this is a good read.
  18. The crux of this trade proposal is not about who is your most resilient player. it's that it only needs to last for the remainder of this year. Either QB could be traded/cut/ or restructured at year end. Who would you rather have as your relief guy for a championship run in 2016...Durant or Willy?
  19. I think that both sides could have some degree of motivation to make this deal. Sasky needs to show their fanbase that they aren't sitting with the status quo, because the status quo clearly isn't good enough. Maybe the fairytale begins anew with Willy's return to the bald prairie? As to the BB; think how close we currently are to being a championship team (I don't believe we are there)?...Now imagine having a revitalized DD behind centre for a playoff run (if/when Nichols goes down). Even as a relief pitcher he could have value, because at this point, Willy doesn't inspire optimism.
