  1. Well Brock unfortunately is a part of a division in which the high end talent is extremely thin... I don't think they can justify headlining ppv's of Brock vs guys with .500 like records...
  2. I seem to remember watching the special on the history of the UFC and them saying that they produced the show on their own dime and that Spike allowed them to air the program since they were desperate for any programming. Brock brought in fans but not from WWE promoting it. What's funny is WWE is now using the UFC to try to promote its product by bringing in Brock and trying to implement submissions which look ridiculous in a WWE ring.
  3. If or when the Blue win another Grey Cup I think the feeling will be more of a huge monkey off the back rather then jubilation.
  4. Its not like the ufc is losing any money on its events. Its still very profitable.
  5. Well I don't agree with UFC gaining most of it's success because of WWE promoting it... most people gained interest in the UFC because WWE became stale and the UFC with Ultimate Fighter 1 was extremely interesting and they started showing FREE FIGHTS on Spike which gave UFC the exposure it needed. Myself and my friends lost complete interest in WWE pretty much right after they bought out WCW and when ECW had folded. Once the Rock and Steve Austin both left to make movies they simply didn't have any big stars that were interesting at all. I don't think anyone of those same friends could name 3 wrestlers in the WWE right now (aside from the oldies). Back in the late 90's you would see a tonne of people wearing Austin 3:16 shirts and everyone knew the Rock and his one liners. The problem with the UFC I think was that they just shoved to much down the throat right now... for the casual people it's impossible for them to keep up or become a more hardcore fan because the roster has expanded to something ridiculous (500 plus?) people and it's very hard to keep tabs on what's all happening. A few years back when they used to do ppv's that alternated between Pride and them it was much easier for a casual person to follow along since you would always have a few main stays on each card (Liddell, Couture, GSP, Hughes etc...) now days on each card even myself who I'd say is pretty hardcore can only recognize maybe half of the people fighting on each card. It's much to overly saturated.
  6. Being the 2nd biggest MMA fan on this site I can mostly point to the deal with fox as the main reason for the decline in interest. With so many free cards that are nearly or even superior to the ppv it really has over saturated the brand and with watered down cards I just don't have a tonne of interest in paying big money when I can wait a week and watch a card for free. The ultimate fighter is also a joke and needs to be killed. Also the lack of Pride hurts since they put on a very entertaining product. WWE will never go edgy since the kids market is much more lucrative.
  7. And if we ever went adult again I would watch again. UFC is starting to trend downward and a new ecw show could capture some of that market.
  8. The man definitely was not good with money And couldn't really compete holding a show in a smaller venue once a month...
  9. Paul Heyman won't go to spike since he burned his bridges big time with ECW and the pre spike TNN...
  10. It's a good core... Just no superstars among them.
  11. Trading January for Glenn is a horrible idea.
  12. Forgot to mention a very old Rudy Pilous.... http://www.hockeydb.com/stte/winnipeg-jets-9023.html http://www.hockeydb.com/stte/winnipeg-jets-9024.html
  13. Well rumour was it that Warrior was a gay male escort in his early days... I thought Buff had a bad car crash and was in bad shape these days?
  14. I believe Buff as cut from the WWE because of his attitude
  15. Well the big income was back when WCW was going crazy signing anyone and everyone and Buff did enjoy some of that money....
  16. I would say the downfall was the coaching way more then the guys they brought in. Lots of the random new guys were quite talented and played great.
  17. In fairness the garbage local wrestling was also very entertaining.... I don't think I laughed so hard as the time that I was out in the country to see the Honkey Tonk Man piss drunk in the ring singing his theme song for nearly 20 minutes straight and while some "local" wrestlers missed every spot and one ended up getting double legged takedown by a drunk lady in the crowd and he wasn't able to out muscle a 40 year old lady on top of him lol.
  18. Wasn't Terrell Owens a non drinker also and he's flat out broke..... most athletes who go broke usually blow the money on poor investments....
  19. And what makes you think Reimer can't if given the chance? You have no way of knowing. IIRC Reimer has been the #1 goalie for the Leafs and has lost the job because of his play. So, you don't think that it was a team effort all around him? That only he was the problem? I didn't say that. Of course Reimer wasn't the only problem but he was enough of a problem that he lost the #1 status and only got it back because of an injury. It's funny that you mention the team effort around Reimer when so many seem to be ignoring the team effort around Pavs. People seem to forget that stats don't tell the whole story. I was watching a highlight video of some of Pav's big saves on YouTube the other day and on almost every save there was some type of defensive breakdown - players out of position, guys left wide open in the slot, players focused on the puck instead of who they are supposed to be covering, etc. If the Jets played consistently sound defence and Pav's numbers were the same then I would say there is a problem. But the Jets are not yet doing that and Pav's numbers reflect that. And no I'm not saying Pav's has not let in some weak goals but every goalie in the league has let in some stinkers. I don't buy the whole "The team played better defensively with Montoya in net" excuse.... Montoya was playing against a lot of the elite teams and the Jets had an equal amount of breakdowns with him in net. I'm no expert but from watching most of the games this season... to me it seemed like Pav cannot control the rebounds at all... so many shots he kicked out the puck bouncing it back to the opposition which then set up many goals. Also many more sloppy goals of him being out of place and/or spending to much time on the ice. I noticed a massive difference in puck control with Montoya in net... instead of deflecting an innocent shot back to the oppositions defense... he seemed to be able to ground the puck and allow our defense to pick it up and move it down the ice breaking the oppositions cycle. I could see if you were comparing to Hutchinson who only had the 3 starts.... but come on now Montoya played quite a bit of games and over a period of time the numbers simply don't lie.
  20. I saw Teddy Hart at the church show he seemed very wound up.
  21. I have yet been to a pcw show but my coworker has been nagging me to go, are you guys running any shows in summer?
  22. Reimer also sucks the only reason I'd want him is simply for a way out of Pavs contract.
  23. Kind of a risk but he is a good fit, the club needs an experienced guy for all the young talent we have. Its not like their is a vast array of available coaches that we could pick from.
  24. I went to all of the shows at the religious place on Chevrier , didn't think it was Church of the Rock but maybe it was. Did not see Scott Steiner at that place... I did see him at the U of M with Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger (pre accident) and Buff was a real good guy while Lex was a total mess. Scott was pretty good also, up close in person his arms were obscene and scary. At the Chevrier place the worst was Nikolai Volkoff wrestling and pretty much throwing out his hip... it was sad his gear was the same gear from the 80's... tattered knee pads and the same trunks that were really faded.
