  1. He's going to take down 'Fake Conservative Doug Ford and his leftist elites' The Ontario Party... yikes. Derek Sloan is deplorable
  2. I think we've been too narrow minded... what we really ought to be doing is going to 5 down football. More downs = more fans, it's so simply obvious!
  3. The question was asked aloud quite often, how long until we just go back to the way it was before? As early as May 1 is apparently the answer. Unless something changes between now and 8pm I finally get to see my first live rock show since the before-fore times, but I wouldn't be going if proof of vax wasn't required. I'm ready for things to open back up but requiring proof of vax at the door (and then actually enforcing it) is playing a big role in how and where I spend my money.
  4. https://3downnation.com/2022/04/25/bombers-no-longer-requiring-proof-of-covid-19-vaccination-for-fans-attending-games-at-ig-field/ Effective May 1, 2022, the Winnipeg Football Club will no longer require fans to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend Blue Bombers games at IG Field. The change in protocol will also apply to events held at IG Field unless the event has its own protocols that differ from the club’s protocols while all policies and procedures will remain subject to change.
  5. It was always going to be Masoli/Evans imo. This guy came with some hype and a 3 year contract... nothing but smoke
  6. Not sure what you're even arguing about or who with anymore so I'm going to back away slowly. You've lead an amazing life dude. The stories you could tell jfc 🙄
  7. The league shouldn't dictate who a team is giving pay bumps too. We could give him a raise and he could still theoretically be the 'lowest paid and 'worst on the roster' if it fits in our caplet us do it. The arbitrary cap makes no sense in building the program. It tells guys they can become victims of even middling success by hurdling the low bar of 'good enough to play teams and see some snaps' Really don't follow your logic here. If the idea is to showcase global talent why would you take the designation away from the first guy good enough to bring attention to globals only to fill the position with some new exotic bench warmer? Good thing for the ratio (welfare for Canadian offensive linemen basically). If Canadians lost their National status for wanting raises they'd all lose their jobs to the next American kid every time. If Globals have to lose their status to be able to get a raise we may as well scuttle the whole program.
  8. I think the only hitch is then having to find a new Global to replace him. The talent pool seems a bit thin so far, you'd think stripping the designation from the program's greatest success story so far would be counter productive There is going to be a talent gap between the most promising globals and your average American prospects. The best globals will reach such heights that they are too good to play for minimum but not good enough to beat out the next warm American body at their position and then what's the point of having this token global spot if it can't be filled by the best globals? And I'm not pooping on this global position, it's not like it's taking away a position from someone else, but if someone excels at the spot why not let them get paid for it?
  9. Should have been an indoor waterslide
  10. They should be able to do both, it's a shame the CFL or the Stamps couldn't or wouldn't step up. The Bombers just announced a $100k donation to local football AND are trying to make Hansen the highest paid global in the league but the league is so eager to shoot itself in the foot when it comes to mandatory minimal salaries for globals. I don't understand their position on this salary thing.
  11. That's totally fair, they had never seen American Football played anywhere before that day so interest is clearly not that high in Germany. As far as having never heard of Hansen or the CFL, it was only, what, week 5 or 6 of the first season of CFL 2.0 by that point. we can give it a couple years before we completely write it off though it clearly has some wrinkles to be ironed out if it has any hope
  12. Not in the vast majority of gun crime, but it absolutely 100% matters in mass shootings - the worst of the gun crimes I again refer your attention to catapults. Imagine the Las Vegas shooter had a catapult with a bump stock installed wooooeeee
  13. What really sucks is the overnight temps on Saturday and Sunday potentially turning every main road into a skating rink for Monday morning.
  14. Yep and catapults are even deadlier than the both of them, even seen a bolt action rifle blow up a stone wall? It's catapults we need to be worrying about. Won't even set off a metal detector.
  15. https://www.chrisd.ca/2022/04/21/winnipeg-goldeyes-local-beer/ Goldeyes to Serve Up Only Manitoba-Made Beer at Shaw Park The Winnipeg Goldeyes have inked a new partnership with Manitoba brewers for all canned and draught beer at the ballpark to be 100% Manitoba-made. Canned beer from Fort Garry Brewing Company (Winnipeg), Little Brown Jug Brewing Company (Winnipeg), Torque Brewing (Winnipeg), and Trans Canada Brewing Company (Winnipeg) will be available at bar locations and via beer tubs throughout Shaw Park. It’s the first time in the baseball club’s 29-year history every beer sold will be local at every Goldeyes’ home game.
  16. Anecdotally I can tell you my in-laws from Germany visited in the summer of 2019 and they were surprised and intrigued to find out a German was playing for the local 'American Football' team that I seemed to be so obsessed with. I took them to a game and pointed him out every time he was on the field. They didn't really follow the game but they still had a lot of fun (we won 31-1, it was wild). Fast forward a few months when we win the cup and I get texts from Germany saying they had tuned in to watch the Grey Cup and were happy for our city. It all started with mentioning Hansen played for us. So at least on the smallest scale I've seen CFL 2.0 generate interest outside our borders. How it translates to money is still in question
  17. Depends on what kind of ******* Ballsy is and how much DT is concerned about his own personal image versus seeing someone he considers a bad dude failing upwards and saying something about it.
  18. This Ballsy guy is not getting a warm reception from Rider fans from what I'm seeing. On Reddit in particular, Rider fans saying now is a good time to check out other teams broadcasts as this guy is insufferable. He proclaims 'sports nerds ruin sports' when analytics are discussed (like those awesome QB accuracy heat-maps) On Twitter, Derek Taylor himself is implying Michael Ball is a prick by congratulating workplace bullies everywhere in response to Ball's hiring. On top of that he supposedly started his call-in shows last year with 'no covid opinions' only to go off on covid tangents of his own throughout the show. Sounds like a winner to me!
  19. I'll limit my responses to stadium related sights. 1994, 9 years old, watched the Goldeyes win the championship in their inaugural season. Before the game Dad took us to buy brand new baseball gloves. Little bro left his sitting there in the stands after the game and we didn't notice til we were halfway through the parking lot. Dad was so pissed. We went back to look for it and amazingly it was still there undisturbed on the seat. Dumb lucky kid. The 2011 'Last TD at Canad Inns' was a nice way for Chris Garrett to cap off nearly 200 yards rushing. 2013 Front row end zone, Aaron Kelly caught a corner TD, jogged directly beneath me, looked me dead in the eyes, and faked tossing the ball up to me. It still hurts. Even more amazing we managed any passing TD's at all that season
  20. https://www.chrisd.ca/2022/04/18/winnipeg-blue-bombers-youth-football-equipment-donation/ The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have donated $100,000 worth of equipment to youth football in the province. The donation includes 220 new helmets for high school and women’s football programs.
  21. https://leger360.com/services/leger/reputation/ "....Each company is analyzed based on 6 components.... it measures the 6 core pillars of corporate reputation: financial strength, social responsibility, honesty and transparency, quality, attachment, and innovation."
  22. Saw him on Bill Maher's show the other day, he is a scary guy for a playwright. The Edge remains an awesome movie no matter how nutso this guy becomes over time. Red Belt was good too
  23. The 'open' distinction matters because the gay men that played before felt they had to hide their identities as gay men or possibly face being ostracized or even reviled by players fans and coaches. Of course there were gay athletes, it's really unfortunate they had to live and love in secret. You are making my point about representation right here. One day (hopefully not taking 50-60 years to normalize...) being openly gay will not even be noteworthy and can be left entirely out of the story the same way being black or white is not worth reporting today. Sam is unique in that he is an openly gay professional football coach. Can you name any other openly gay professional football coaches? I don't think anyone can. (Don't say Sandusky) I'll reiterate nobody here thinks being gay has any bearing in his ability to do the job, any more than it did on his ability to play. In that sense (but maybe only that sense) youre 100% right that being gay doesn't matter. Going to add too that this is a totally healthy discussion to have, even on a football forum. How else is anyone going to learn or develop or form informed opinions if we can't talk about it or are afraid to say 'I don't get it' or 'I can't relate' as long as we can respect one another there is no taboo subject among friends and scholars right?
  24. I will keep your seat warm
  25. Hes definitely the type that makes you feel anything can happen when he touches the ball
