Braley turning into a slumlord for Argos
BBlink replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The dirty little secret about the CFL is that comissioners serve at Braleys leisure so what's to say that Cohon isn't leaving because he took a stand against lord Braley? Anything is possible, that's why I stated that I may be overreacting. It would be terrible though for a new commish to move in and have to pick up blame for the Argo situation. -

Now I may be overreacting but isn't it interesting that Mark Cohon is getting out of dodge now? It's all well and good that the CFL is healthy in a lot of markets, and that they are back in Ottawa, but if they end up losing Toronto (I know. Likely won't happen but), then a lot of this has to fall on Cohon's shoulders. Even if they don't lose Toronto, the state that their franchise has been left in is terrible. Seems a bit cowardly on Cohon to quit now. -

Hope he finds help -
Riders are in tip top form when they are getting away with holding and offside on every play. It's their bread and butter
-
It was the right call. Defense has to take the heat for this loss

Not a gif but

Backup is either Brohm or Marve. Going to guess Brohm gets the nod if Willy can't go. Willy will play unless it's simply impossible. That's how he's been all year.

If he went to the Bombers, heads would roll. -

How would the size of our receivers compare to the rest of the league if we were to get Dressler? And how would he fit into our offense? He is a slot afterall, and we aren't exactly hurting for slot type players. -

We can only hope, but I'm not getting my hopes too high. -
"To clarify". You mean "To correct myself". lol

We are comparing Ottawa to Saskatchewan. In Saskatchewan, a much higher percentage of people are fans of the Riders than that of Ottawa and the Redblacks. There is also a higher level of fanaticism (the point where you get delusional) in Saskatchewan. -

Post-football jobs. I'm not disagreeing that he could get those arrangements in Ottawa, but in Sask they would treat him like a movie star. Weston Dressler sells combines? I'm buying from there! -

Maybe. Too high of contract makes you expendable. If you are getting 250K per season and not performing you are impossible to trade and usually just released. Also off-field money making ventures need to be kept in mind. Weston has worked in Regina during the off-season for years and he could set himself up for a post-football career there quite nicely. A guy like Matt Dominguez wasn't able to play for long and he is still making an excellent living in and around Regina. To me, the upfront money from Ottawa would have to be ridiculously higher then Saskatchewan for him to sign there as he has just too many other reasons to stick with the Riders. You make some good points about life after football. The large contract making you expendable isn't much of an issue. You will get paid exactly how much somebody is willing to pay you. If it turns out that Dressler isn't 250k worthy, and they cut him, he'll make 200k somewhere else. He is a very good player and someone will be giving him the big bucks, it's just a matter of whom. -

As for Dressler. Money talks when it comes to football careers. If Ottawa is offering that much more than the Riders I could see him going there. -

I would rather have SJ Green than Chris "I'm injured again" Matthews. Don't know what Matthews did to upset you, but I'd recommend you give him a break. Going on about how "injury prone" he is would sound awfully foolish if you knew the entire situation. Not sure what exactly happened to Matthews but he was extremely distant from the team last year. If we do get him back I hope his attitude is 110%. -
Miller could get quite a bit of flack for this. Bell was one of the most well liked upper management types with the Bombers.
-
It is restructuring. Doubt this has anything to do with Bell at all except for his salary
-
This must be the juicy rumour that was talked about.

It would not be 200-250k for 9 games. It would be 100-125k for the last 9 games. Could receive a signing bonus though. -
This is a good question as Unamba and Soudermire have been great on ST.

But it's also not going to last. Hamilton will get to play Montreal and Ottawa in the last part of the season, you think all those teams are going to stick at 1 win after that? Why would I think that? It's pretty obvious that can't happen (unless there are a statistically improbable amount of ties). Regardless of the amount of wins that are given out based on interdivisional play in the East, we are still likely looking at a double crossover scenario from the West. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest the East (outside of Toronto) can win against the West, and the other teams in the East likely won't be beating Toronto either. I may have mis-counted but there are only 7 guaranteed wins left between Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa. I don't want to start making charts about what the odds are for teams ending with a certain record, but it is definitely possible that the last place team in the West has a better record than the 2nd place team in the East.

Has a combined 16 game losing streak going. :-\ Hamilton with a 1-6 record is holding down a playoff spot while the last place 5-4 BC Lions would be out. Sounds fair.
