Happens all the time. We brought 4 QB's in last year (Cooper Callis, Billy Hall, Josh Jones, Tyrrell Pigrome) who were all new to the league. Jones and Piggy only threw 17 passes between them over the 2 preseason games while the other two got released before those games even happened.

DB (and WR) are the least of my concerns. If a borderline starter like Parker is hurt, it just means one of the other 97 DB's in camp get more reps. Now if we were talking about a guy like Nichols, well that's a different story. I like Parker but he's not irreplaceable.

It makes sense but the same argument can be made for helmets but those are required. We know nothing will 100% eliminate concussions but if there's something that can help increase safety (without affecting gameplay) why wouldn't they try it? It looks goofy as hell but it's not my brain being knocked around so if a player wants to wear one, I'm not going to criticize their choice.

The cap also doesn't matter right now. There's lots of time to find savings (cuts, 6 game IR, contract restructuring) if they really needed to.

Yep, they definitely should but we've heard about that kind of thing before. Off-field preparation like that doesn't always rank too highly for some of these guys. One of our camp QB's (Terry Wilson) just admitted he was supposed to come up to the CFL 2 years ago but didn't have his passport in order so it didn't happen & now he wishes he had gotten it done back then.

I'm sure some probably have no clue about the ratio or why it matters that the starter/back-up are Canadian.

These guys have either had a week when you include rookie camp or they were here last year. If other guys have already shown better than them, no point keeping them around. There's also the possibility that some of these are due to injury and they are told not to leave town. Jared Beeksma - been kicking around the league since 2022 and hasn't stuck yet. Was with Sask & Hamilton (twice) before we brought him in last July. Ravi Alston - on our PR last fall. Ronnie Brown - had rookie camp & first few days of main camp. John Waggoner - had rookie camp & first few days of main camp. Raleigh Texada - on our PR last fall. CJ Siegel - had rookie camp & first few days of main camp.

Whoever tweeted that doesn't understand how the CFL works. They mentioned lying about speed but the article only talks about Chris-Ike's speed. He's a non-counter who would not have affected brown's status with the club.

Yeah, opinions & views changing with discussion or more information is fine. Time will usually tell if those opinions are correct (like Brady proved to you). Only really an issue if people are wavering & flip flopping in their opinions from one comment to the next.

Barker was sued in the past by a female atheletic therapist so he might just be bitter about his experience in a similar situation. It's laughable that he trotted out the fact that the Argos apparently did their own investigation and found nothing wrong. The leaked report showed differently - Barker has zero credibility on this issue.

I think (hope?) that's just Hamilton talking out of his ass (which is normally reserved for a couple other local reporters). Thomas showed last year that he has slowed down a lot and Schmekel showed absolutely nothing. I can't see anyway they are going to use those guys in rotation with Lawson for two spots when they are barely good enough to back him up for one spot.

Unless they completely ignore canon timelines, it has to be then since it's the events at the start of Fellowship (Bilbo's birthday party) that kick off Gandalf's suspicions about the ring - Gollum wasn't a concern prior to that. It's not clear in the movie, but there's a 17 year gap between that event (in year 3001 of the third age) and when Gandalf returns (in 3018) to have Frodo confirm it's the One Ring by throwing it into the fire. Frodo leaves the Shire in September of 3018.
