Quentin Saulsberry?
And in order to do that, we need to keep January around for the time being, because the rest of our O-line sucks absolute dogshit. Not necessarily. Jones and Knapp filled in admirably in LT and RT respectively, consider they are with the team for just 5 days. Imagine what benefit of a full TC will do for them. And we have 2 more good import propects on the roster right now... and they are not like a Taormina type. and you're too down in our NI OLs RT - they have high hopes with Neufeld but if he's not good there, then we line up an import there. Problem solved. RG - Penser played good in his short stint there, so does Kowalczuk. Swiston has his bright and dark moments there. I think it's a matter of deciding where should be Penser and Swiston play, not RG this week and RT next week. LG - will be Greaves, who arguably our best NI OL last year. our problem is with C - Morley and Kowalzcuk is not set there yet. and how much of it is DelMonaco's ?

Looking to play closer to home? I'm wondering if SSK left him unprotected knowing his contract situation could allow them to re-acquire him after one season. Also, they had to keep that offensive line intact. So in sense, most of the players they acquire in the expansion draft are rentals.

Quentin Saulsberry?
I think we have to make the most of our opportunity while Wylie is here. Give him a very good talent to work with and turn them into a solid O-Line this year. Just like what he did in 2007-2008 with LaBatte et.al. We never know, NFL might come calling again next year and *poof* he's gone.

Bombers add RB Kevin Smith to neg list
We have 2 backs on the roster that are capable of that - Ford and Tarver. Problem is we don't have an NI RB that is capable of filling in, in case the featured RB goes down. So it's important to have an IMP RB as DI so our running game will not die if that happens.

Free Agency - 2014...
We have a natural FB in Pontbriand and Fitzgerald can long snap, Volny is seldomly-used, I'm not sure if we have spot for him in our FB/RB dept. Can he play D ? We need NI backup in LB dept.

Free Agency - 2014...

Bombers add RB Kevin Smith to neg list
MarcelB is a proponent of 2-back system. I'm guessing he will have 2 import RBs on the gameday roster. 1 will be a feature back and the other as DI (in a RB/KR role) will have significant snaps on the Offense.

I think, I'm good if the Bombers pick any of Lavertu, Foucault and Smith. Lavertu - is definitely a BIG NEED Foucault - hoping he can transition his LT play from CIS to CFL Smith - hoping he can be converted to C How about burning our 1st rounder next year for Ottawa's 1st overall? So we can pick both Lavertu and Foucault. Which will enable us to solidify our Oline with top rank NI's ...LT Foucault / LG Greaves / C Lavertu / RG Penser / RT Neufeld

January is a B- guy for an import, B if he was Canuck. Greaves is still learning - should be a B+ canuck but in current dismal system he's only a B, Morley is reallly bad (too slow), a C- canadian at best, Pencer & Swiston remain un-graded due to lack of action - if only one of them could be a solid B to B+ starter. Neufeld was seen as a B to B+ guy in waiting in Sask'n but injuries have riddled him. If he's all healed up and top shape lets hope he's better than C+, perhaps B to B+ starter. Biggest problem for O'Shea - we ain't got no A o-linemen; not even an A- guy. how much of that because of coaching though ?

Quentin Saulsberry?
We have 4 import OLs Jones, Knapp, Richards and Saulsberry aside from January. If we dont have an NI good enough to be the 4th starter we can still go with 2-import OL even if January is not around..

Jones is capable to replace January, more than capable.

Roughriders Over Cap in 2013
under 100k = $ for $ fine + down 1 spot for first pick 100k and over = $ for $ fine + lose first pick. that make sense to me

You have to give up good value to acquire good value.

I don't mind trading January (and his buddy Morley) if can get something for him (them). Jones have shown brilliance in short amount of time. Plus he can play either end of the OLine. Ditto Knapp. It seems Richards is in the same mould of Jones. While Saulsberry, as pointed out earlier, can play any position in the OLine which is a good thing. Jones could be a cheaper/younger alternative for January.

I don't mind Foucault if the Bombers is planning to go to 5-NI OLs with but with the amount of import OLs we have at the moment (5) I am not sure if that's the direction we are going.

You can never have enough non import tackle prospects. If Lavertu is off the board, Foucault should be the guy. If Foucault is for sure going to be that starting tackle, make the pick. If he's going to be an interior convert, we're just burning a hole in the rest of our roster by continuing to pick these types of players, of which we already have 3 (Swiston, Pencer, Neufeld who is essentially our 2nd round pick in this draft) plus Morley, a good football player who took two full seasons to become an average guard. IMO there's a strong bias for the NI tackle body types, and very few of them end up actually playing tackle, and most of them stink at playing inside when they ultimately have to because they can't handle edge rushers who are twice as quick as anything they see in CIS. Everyone, including seasoned football people, are in awe of a 6'8 guy who can move and looks great relative to CIS competition, and dream of the NI tackle, but in reality it isn't happening all that much. Now that's tying a general bias to Foucault, probably unfair to him until he proves otherwise. The best OL in this draft class could very well end up being a guy like Kyle Paterson, who doesn't draw ooohs and ahhhhs because he's 6'2 280, not 6'8 320. From a Bomber perspective, we have too many holes in the roster to just keep cramming guys in the pipeline for a position we end up using an import at anyways. that is my concern, actually.

Expectations for 2014
My expectation for the Bombers this 2014 is to win the Grey Cup, just like every single year. How will they do that? It's not my problem. It's for them to figure it out. As for me, I'll be behind the team no matter what.

OL Lavertu is no brainer for us, unfortunately he's a no brainer for Ottawa too OL Foucault doesn't fill our need at the moment which is a Center and we have RG/RT hopefuls - Swiston, Penser and Neufeld. OL Tardif is definitely a future pick which we can't afford right now DL Smith is interesting based on what he shown in the combine plus he also shown he will not be out of place playing Guard which I guess added to his stock. Picking him, definitely help our ratio especially if he can start right away plus an emergency 7th OL on the 42. DL Gill is the highest rated DL prior to the combine, and he maintain his stock upto this point. He will be a sentimental pick for the hometown Bombers for sure. Just like Smith, he can help the ratio if he can start right away. Is he the next Doug Brown? That remains to be seen. WR Bailey - I dont think we are going with a receiver for our 1st pick. We may not have a backup for Watson and Kohlert at the moment but their are intersting receivers available in the latter rounds. DE Ainsworth is interesting too since he may fill the 'rover' spot on Ech's D which inturn will save us 1 DI spot. Question is, Is he a stretch to pick at #2? RB Coombs, will not fill a need for the Bombers since we dont really make NI RBs as our feature backs. Unless the Bombers will go 3 NI on the receiving core and convert him to a SB that may help but I'm not sure they wanna do that. I think BC will take him on the 5th if they dont move up. OL Goosen will be an off the board pick at this point based on the Final Draft ranking. I dont think Walters will go with the same route that Mack has taken during the draft. My guess... Bombers will pick either Smith or Gill (I'm going with Gill) and trading down with any of these teams - Montreal, BC and Toronto - is one of the possible options.

Expectations for 2014
can anyone recall if any CFL team (in the past) fielded 3 import OLs for most of the season and not just for 1-2 games? i recall EDM did, i think last year but for just one (or two) game(s) only.

Expectations for 2014
i'll mostly agree with this... except West: CGY, SSK, BC, EDM and WPG East: TO, HAM , MTL and OTT I'll put HAM ahead of MTL. Both teams have a young guns at QBs (Smith/Marsh and Collaros/Lefevour). Montreal will be having a new Offense with Worman while it will be the same Austin Offense for HAM with Lefevour have 1 year playing it which is an advantage. As far as I recall, Collaros was not declared as starter yet. I can certainly see why you think that way. How bout Ham and Mtl battling for #2 spot all season like BC and SKN? *toss*
