Milt won the game with one of those patented seam-routes that he was so famous for. We were pretty drunk watching that game on TV in Brandon, then went to celebrate the win at The Roadhouse, and ended up getting tossed at about 1am when one of the people we were with mouthed off to a bouncer. SIgh. It was a night...

From here on out, I demand that the kicker be called Liam Arugula......

our post-Ritchie era thru to Doug Berry is full of some truly awful memories of games vs Montreal. One of the only highlights (...and it's BARELY a highlight...) was the game from 2004 (2005??) when we won something like 52-45 (??)...and Kamau Peterson actually called it on the old OB.com 'cause they'd apparently designed a gameplan for that specific game, all the way back in April of that year. Sigh...not a good era.....f*** everything about Calvillo and the Als...

In fairness, if you were old enough to remember the early 2000s................

AC benefited a ton from having such a good team around him, primarily one of the best OL of all time.
-
Only because he wasn't good enough to play NFL. Flutie, Dickenson and possibly Ray are better QBs with shorter track records...

to hell with that guy for everything he did to us in the mid-2000s. I couldn't possibly be happier to hear he'll be gone...

Absolutelty NO WAY we get outbid by anyone. WBB vs NFL, end of story.

Really need St John's to start spitting more guys up (hopefully soon...) to provide depth, and then let the drafting provide the top end talent. Tanking this year would be real good for them, to give 'em a shot at a legit superstar.

the Jets have a solid NHL -level 2nd line in Scheiffle/Kane/Frolik, and Little/Ladd/Wheeler is a serviceable 2nd Line and pretty good 3rd Line. They do not have a legit top line right now. On D, Enstrom/Trouba is a serviceable top pairing, but they're not really legit yet...too young. Give it a couple years, and they'll be there. Bogo/?? is alright as a 2nd pairing, tho ZB is massively overrated based on his draft year. As for Pavelec, I think the guy is a lot better than people give him credit for. He gets so little help in front of him, it's a tough slog night in and night out. They just don't play well in front of him. Bottom line, Jets fans really tend to overrate the talent level on this team. Noel got far more out of guys like Ladd (ppg...seriously??!), Little and Wheeler than anyone has any right to. If people are patient and they let the drafting take its course, then things will get better. Need to remember that you basically inherited an expansion team. It was a complete shambles, save for a couple pieces, so it's going to take a long time to build this thing up to where it needs to be in order to be competitive. Going from the abhorrent SouthLeast Division to the ultra-competitive West/Central didn't help people's understanding of the situation...

the thing about Calgary is there's SO much private money, and because of this, a lot of stuff goes on under the table, and behind the scenes. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there was a bunch of stuff happening that isn't being reported...

Your expectations for the Bombers in 2014?
Noeller replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's easy to make reasonable assumptions. Most of our coaching staff is set. We will have one of Collaros, Willy or Burris at QB. Likely sign a few free agents and bring in some new bodies from down south to compete. Looks like everyone wants to be difficult here so feel free to lock this thread. Honestly, and again I'm not trying to be difficult, I have no idea how to assume anything about this club right now. I have no idea if we'll see guys like Jovon or Stewart back. No clue if we're going to run with Will Ford or bring in a starter from college. Even the familiar faces are full of question marks right now so it's just so hard to have any idea. this....absolutely no clue right now, but I'm excited to find out more... -
Seconded...

Noel's fine...good coach...that roster is the shits, period. He's got way more outta them than anybody had any right to.
-
Good riddance...I hope Stala retires.

Steinhauer really seems like someone that fits what we're trying to do in Wpg. If they can give him some kind of a token "upgrade" to bring him over on a lateral move, that would work, I think...

I don't think Howell can be judged properly by the mess that the entire team was. Need a better all-around offense to judge it properly...

Bombers hire Queens DC Pat Tracey as Special Teams Coordinator
Noeller replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's all very interesting, and as a huge "rah rah Canada!" guy, there's part of me that loves being All Canadian and giving a giant F*** You to the idea that NCAA/NFL experience is oh-so-important. Thing is, tho.....that is important. Nobody here is naive enough to think that CIS football is anywhere near NCAA, both in quality of players and in quality of coaching. So have we gone TOO FAR in terms of being All Canadian on the coaching staff? -

Not sure how much I love a guy going from CIS co-ordinator to CFL co-ordinator, tho this guy sounds pretty well respected. It's one thing to go from CIS HC to CFL co-ordinator, but this is a really big jump for this guy. Hopefully it works out!
