the Esks beat guy for CHED radio was saying today: "The problem with Jones is that he's ALWAYS looking for the next opportunity. Hard to build a program when the HC won't commit to the program".....and that's about right. Sounds like he's got NFL/NCAA opportunities down south anyhow, so that's good...stay there.
of note, on HNIC Saturday, they said the Jets are trying to get the quarantine reduced from 14 to 7 days because they flew him in on a private plane, rather than him flying commercial.... not sure if anything further has come of this request.
I feel bad for the Esks...what a shitty thing to have happen right now. You'd rather see it happen to the Riders, but of course they don't have anyone that anybody else wants.
I've seen this nonsensical "we can't keep anyone" thing going around. Scheiffele, Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey. Just to name a few. Drafted, developed and signed long term deals. The draft and develop thing can and does work.
I just really really really think Chris Walby was something special and a guy that would never have played in the CFL, had things been different in the 80s (because he would have been an automatic NFLer...)
I've said it before, but I'd listen to an argument that Bryant is the best OL in the history of the CFL, and that's coming from one of the biggest Walby fans of all time...
Definitely, a lot of the logistical things are more straightforward compared to last year... so if they've modeled Profit/Loss for minimum 10% capacity and are okay with that..........?? Fingers crossed....man, I need this.
I think come summer time, they'll get the go ahead for at least 10% capacity (I've been told from an event organizer in Manitoba, that MB Health told them they'd have 10-15% if their outdoor event was happening "tomorrow", kinda thing) but I'm curious about getting players across the border and through the mandated quarantine periods and then on the field to practice. All of that stuff.
