  1. Probably my favourite GnR song. No whistle solo?? Nice to what someone cover it but the GnR version is far superior.
  2. From Bruce Garrioch at Ottawa Sun: AROUND THE BOARDS An interesting team to watch on the Patrik Laine front may be the Philadelphia Flyers and the talk is they’re making an aggressive push. They have the ability to make the deal if they can find the right fit with the Jets. A league executive speculated Sunday the Flyers would probably want to see if there’s a fit in Winnipeg for defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere. He has three years left with a cap hit of $4.5 million per season, but the Jets could also look to get a second-line centre in return. The Jackets and Montreal Canadiens are both believed to have made pitches for Laine, 22, who has 138 goals and 247 points in 305 games. You have to think find a fit with the Habs the Jets would want Phillip Danault in return. The Sabres, Wings, Rangers, Wild and Panthers all have interest … The Jets are trying to get defenceman Dylan DeMelo signed, but there still a sizeable gap to bridge if that’s going to happen. DeMelo was dealt to Winnipeg by the Senators at the February deadllne and has a chance to cash in.
  3. I had thought the same thing about MLB when they had massive outbreaks in the first week. Everyone was saying they won't last. This will get completely shut down. But they found a way.... And I'm sure NFL will too. There's just way too much money at stake.
  4. So, for anyone who may have missed it, the Bombers have been doing a podcast. It's mostly Darren Cameron hosting with a bit of contribution from our man Tait, and then they have a guest each time. It WAS only available to subscribers but they've now put them up on Spotify and iTunes for free. No spoilers, but man... Do yourself a favour and give them a listen. The Doug Brown one is outstanding. So good.
  5. Due to the high number of crazy people here, Alberta's CMO, Deena Hinshaw, has (multiple times) explained why "The Sweden Approach" and "Herd Immunity" are idiotic ideas that are a bad idea for Canada. Every time she tells idiots that they're ideas are idiotic, I'm here for it....but also feel so sorry for her having to do it in the first place.
  6. Had the exact same feeling when we were home a few weeks ago. We went to the Bombers Store to buy stuff, and as we were walking back to the car, I stopped at the fence and looked in at the empty stadium. A sickening feeling. I would go for CFL ball 12 months of the year, but right now, especially, it's tough......
  7. diversionary post -- something fun from CFL.ca: https://www.cfl.ca/2020/10/01/five-memorable-october-games/ a crazy one from the Bombers, beating Ottawa after a roller-coaster game......
  8. Sweden's decision is and was deplorable. To say that the economy is more important than ANY lives, no matter how old they might be, is inexcusable.
  9. For those that think the GMs are sitting around with a thumb up their ass.... a good convo with Kyle Walters and The Taiter... https://www.bluebombers.com/2020/09/30/not-ones-going-doesnt-make-easier/?fbclid=IwAR3V1nB82WfUNM9uOawEGs9ocm6BwxwkNmXbalEJ5aYBiBKzUDNEZ0Tr8Vc
  10. One of the first things that happened under his tenure was the Diversity Is Strength campaign, which was an absolute home run, and he was the first commissioner to make a point of going to each stadium specifically to talk to fans about what they like, didn't like, would like to see, etc etc..... I remember vividly a tweet from some Toronto based talking head (Madani or someone like that...) saying "Ambrosie's start to the role has been like Yoenis Cespedes in the home run derby....non stop crushing it..." and that always stood out to me. The good will hasn't stayed with him, unfortunately...
  11. along with his own string of hits, he also wrote many for other artists...including one of the best songs Elvis ever recorded, In The Ghetto....
  12. who's the guy from Montreal that wants the gig? There was something just recently...I can't remember who, but a Francophone former Alouettes player...
  13. Ambrosie started off great....seemed to have the right idea. The league's dealing with the pandemic obviously was bad, and Ambrosie wears that. I don't know who or what might do a better job than him......a former player with a successful business background.........but hopefully they can find someone.
  14. I'm bracing myself for Willie and Dolly....those are gonna be tough, and likely not too far off.
  15. so true... both RP and 3DN seem really click-bait-y
  16. Curious to see what the next season will look like. Last thing I read, from yesterday, was talk of rotating bubbles. Would be 4-6 bubbles across North America, and teams would play within a bubble for two weeks, then get a week off to go home and spend with their families, and then go to a different bubble for two weeks...etc etc etc. Interesting concept...we'll see what happens.
  17. man, the one thing I'll say for Alberta....they did testing right. You book your appointment in advance, drive in and drive out. Little to no waiting. We're now doing nearly 20,000 tests per day. Did more than 18,500 on Sunday, and have been averaging about 16,000.....
  18. that whole generation is getting up there...can't be surprised anymore. He had a string of great song hits in the 70s....
  19. Was really pulling for Bowness. Shame. But I'm more than ready for the next season. Don't care how they do it... Let's play a full season. Go Jets Go.
  20. The Pal with signs telling people not to post pics on social media.... ******* greasy.
  21. The GMs have the MOST to do, relatively speaking. In terms of keeping the team managed during this pause, it's all on them. In terms of the Bombers, it's Miller and Walters with the two biggest jobs while everything is on hold.
  22. He's good people. We were hanging out at Bombers House during Grey Cup when a drunken Bob Cameron came in and planked on the bar. Lotta laughs between our tables.... He's a good'n, Hus....
  23. I saw this today and just sighed.....2020, man...........
  24. Winnipeg's outta control right now. Good to see the mandatory mask mandate coming in. That'll definitely help bring things down a bit. The Level Orange in Westman got them under control in no time.
  25. they will definitely survive....they've been through too much over the years for THIS to be the thing that kills 'em. It may not look exactly the same, but they'll exist in some form. With vaccines and mandatory masks at all events, I think it can happen. Football, due to being outdoors during the summer, will be an easier sell to the chief medical officers than hockey, which is indoors during the winter.
