You know I have two vivid memories of the Bombers going for it to end the half, once with Brink at qb and he lobbed a td pass up to carr (i think it was carr anyway) in the endzone rather than trying a field goal and the other was in 2005 against Ottawa. There was one play until half and I just assumed Jim Daley would do the Jim Daley thing and take a knee and go into the locker room so I head to the bathroom, well next thing you know the guys I was watching the game with are yelling and cheering, Chris Brazzell to the endzone! son of a *****. As long as you don't turn the ball over I'd try it all the time.

This is correct. They've made some puzzling roster decisions at times this year, but I do think they've gotten over that recently. Much more willing to make changes to things that aren't working. Losing will do that. Not as smart as they thought they were. It's a fine line to walk though, you want to show faith in your players. I really do think O'Shea learned a lot this season about head coaching. I think if we run this guy out of town we're going to regret it.
-
The frustrating part of that, is you know it's the last play and you know that it's a hope and a prayer, you have to just let the ball fly and hope for the best no matter what.

I still have a lot of time for Mike O'Shea. He is the least of our problems here. There are a lot of places that could use a talent upgrade. Notably defensive line needs to be a LOT better. I'd say they need to find one more receiver who can hit 1000 yards as well. Then there's the OL which needs to figure itself out.

at least the jets won

Willy, Bellefeuille, this one is on you guys!

No one will argue that Willy played a good game last night, the problem people are having with the negative folks around here is how they are so keen to throw the guy under the bus. There are some very real explanations for why he's at the point he is, going full Tim Burke on the guy doesn't help anything. -
The only thing that wrecked willy this year was having to do too much on his own. He took too many hits, he didn't have a good running game to lean on because they fell in love with Grigsby for some reason and the receivers overall as lacking.

Because he's shown to be highly capable, it's his first year as a starter and he's surrounded by (at most times) a pretty terrible supporting cast?My god the first 6 games of the year left quite an impression on you didn't they Some people are just able to look at the big picture and not fall into the shallow line of thinking that "team loses, qb must be bad!!!!" -
Willy needs a break for his own good, but once he's healthy next year he's going to be good. Anyone can see the poor guy has taken too much of a beating this year. Between the multiple hand injuries, the shoulder, the ankle, it's just taken too much of a toll on him.

Okay, other than saying the same thing over & over & over about how bad Willy is/was/ always will be, you tell us why a qb who suffered thru 11 sacks tonight would hold onto the football too long instead of getting rid of it quicker. I'd be interested to read what you have to say. Go ahead... Oh & don't give me that shell shocked answer as it is more complex than that. Shell shocked means he'd be panicking & throwing the football too early. I want a real insightful answer. It's really not hard to understand, the guy is terrified of getting hit while throwing the ball so he tries to buy himself time but the OL isn't good enough to sustain their blocks for long enough and when he does that he gets caught. It's painfully obvious to see. Being shell shocked and afraid doesn't mean you throw quicker, it means you hesitate. It's clear that right now Willy doesn't trust his blocking or his receivers or himself. Too many hits this year and it's ****** with his head. -

Rider fans everywhere after seeing their backups fail are huddled in a corner rocking back and forth repeating the words "Darian is coming" over and over again. -
Willy has been shell shocked for some time now, when you look at the record number of sacks given up it's no wonder. Listening to him on the CJOB post game, he knows what he did wrong, he's going to come in healthy next year and light it up, but this year he's taken such a beating he can barely function.

A giant **** you to everyone who argued with me about Cotton needing to go in over Grigsby. Suck it. Suck it long and suck it hard.
-
Good finish to this game, makes me remember how much I love the CFL when you see games like this where the score goes back and forth a bit.

Why is there a thread quota or limit? Nah, it's just not deserving of a separate thread. But it's allowed. Sorry but Rider fans don't get to talk about what's allowed to be posted here or not. + 1000000 likes fer this... I mean seriously... you've not even put in the time like others and you feel the need to tell us how to run our board? Smh. oh but don't criticise him for his posting, he'll get such a pout going on. Nothing more annoying than the rider fan who oh so desperately wants to be liked by the rival teams fans. Sorry but it's not going to happen.
-
Classic Grigsby. Guess the Hamilton OL sucks too? Damned shame that it took so long for the Bombers to give up on an obviously not good enough running back.

Don't worry about the playoff race, just win this game. Then you can worry about winning next week and hoping you get the help you need. Bottom line just win. Remember what Vince Lombardi said... If you lose, you're out of the family. -

Is that the Taman effect?Do you mean the Grey Cup championship win at home effect? Most teams will never enjoy that feat in their lifetimes. IMO he deserves a mulligan considering we are without our marquee QB.It's all about the playoffs. Nope it doesn't work that way. No mulligan given for not having your marquee qb. Sask needs to find a QB who can at least manage a game allowing other players to step up. To date, that has not been achieved Taman and group. As much as it pains me to say this, see Calgary as a perfect example of what needs to happen when a 'marquee' player goes down.Agreed that our backups haven't stepped up at all this season but to say this is typical Taman is nonsense as our backup last year is Winnipeg's new saviour. Taman can't win em all, a lot of folks thought Sunseri had what it takes to step in, too Jekyll & Hyde however. It'll be very interesting to see what happens in playoffs when hopefully we get all of Durant, Labatte, Best, Dressler, Allen, Taj, etc back in the lineup. Looks like Riders vs Ticats in ESF. No typical Taman is to pay a premium for starters and star players and save money by neglecting the depth. How is this not exactly what is going on in Saskatchewan? Trust us, we watched Taman GM our team longer than he's been in Saskatchewan. There's a certain way he operates and that really hasn't changed.Other than QB & MLB I don't think our depth has been that bad. I'd like to see someone other than Rod Williams on the corner. And even if your evaluation of Taman is true, I'll take a year or two of rebuilding to pay for a championship. It's the year after & we still made the playoffs & it looks like alot of our injured starters will be back in time for the playoff run. It's anyones to win this year. but the point you're not seeing is that the team had some good depth but it's starting to erode and that's a Taman MO. Worry about the starters more than the backups, worry about today more than tomorrow. Now the thing that might save him in Saskatchewan is the complete and utter disregard for the salary cap but so far he's operating exactly like he always has. -

Statistics are like a bikini, what they reveal is suggestive but what they conceal is vital
-
100% of the games this season have been won by the team that scored the most points! That's a nice little stat to throw on a graphic but it really just amounts to saying the same thing. The team that plays better and accumulates more stats wins the game.

Yeah if only that ***** hadn't been so stubborn and stopped calling for the qb to throw interceptions. I tell you what I even saw a touchdown pass from Joseph that with a better angle by the DB could have been a pick. When the qb is turning the ball over like that you really can't blame the OC. That's all on the qb not taking care of the football. Riders got desperate and botched their qb situation badly when Durant got hurt no point making excuses for it because that's what it is plain and simple. They ruined the confidence of Sunseri and Doege and hitched their wagon to a retired qb who was never that good to start with. -
oh please, get over yourself, I treat everyone the same, you say stupid **** you get called on it. You want to come to a Bomber message board as a rider fan you better expect to have that target painted on your chest though, and if you can't take the shots why are you even here?
