  1. And next we hear: Jamie Nye @jamienye Sam Hurl will NOT be signing with the #Riders... getting word he's gone.
  2. Really good article in today's Freep by Ed Tait: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/maxwell-smart-99-top-agents-available-291141241.html?cx_navSource=d-top-story And TSN ranks the top 20 pending free agents: http://cfl.ca/article/fa15-top-20-free-agents-set-to-hit-the-market Somewhat surprising to see January and Kelly in that list.
  3. This guy Skelton, who the Als just signed, sounds interesting: http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/montreal-alouettes/the-snap-alouettes-release-qb-brink
  4. Very eloquent and classy guy. Good luck to him in his new career.
  5. Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron 4h4 hours ago Not a huge deal, but have read multiple stories saying we released @TheRealCMaTT13. Incorrect. He went to FA w intentions on NFL workouts. Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron 4h4 hours ago We kept close tabs on him through 2014 & are real happy for him. He was never, ever, out of our plans if he wanted to be back in CFL. Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron 4h4 hours ago Real happy for him.... Waited for his chance and took advantage on the biggest stage in sports. Guys like that deserve it all.
  6. Chris Cvetkovic - @cvety50 · 3h 3 hours ago Good luck today to former teammates & buddies @Seahawks @cmat13 @JonRyan9 & Maurice Kelly Chris Mathews and Jon Ryan are obvious but I forgot that the Seahawks senior director of player development is Mo Kelly who played for the Bombers "in two separate stints (1998-99) and (2003-2004) as a hard-hitting defensive back/linebacker known as Crash Kelly. He was a CFL all-star twice, once with the Lions (’97) and again with the Blue Bombers (‘99)." If it weren't for those guys I wouldn't care about the game. But the Bomber connection makes me a Seahawk backer.
  7. Although born and raised in Winnipeg, I spent a large chunk of my adult life in the UK. And there it wasn't just bread and milk that you could get delivered to your door:
  8. Kirk Penton has a very informative article in today's Sun: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/01/29/bombers-deal-cory-watson-to-saskatchewan
  9. Someone should ask Lawless about Mike Renauld's rumoured retirement.
  10. I thought this was another interesting bit from Darren Cameron's blog: Money may be the bottom line but if they do end up back in the CFL, it sounds like we'll have a head start on the other teams.
  11. I wonder if we're going to make a play for Hamilton's LB Taylor Reed. He was on the Bomber's Practice squad in 13 and then had tryouts with the Cowboys and Pats. Hamilton picked him up last year and he didn't look out of place. (Comments, Zontar?) Another LB who may hit FA is the Esks Rennie Curran. He'd sure look good in Blue and Gold.
  12. Hmm, I guess I was wrong about the Sask media being a bunch of brown nosers: http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/football/roughriders-football/Vanstone+Roughriders+coaching+options/10724291/story.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  13. I dunno but reading between the lines I don't think Walters is telling us to expect the second coming of Chris Walby: “Devin Tyler is an athletic, tough, offensive lineman, who we were impressed with when he stepped in last season,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “We wanted to bring him back, have him work through a training camp with us and see how it plays out. He is a solid football player with CFL experience.” Anyhow, Tyler certainly deserves a chance to show what he can do in TC.
  14. If Jade Ettiene is working as a bartender in Regina I suspect it's a part time job. Last I heard he was going back to University to pursue a career in education.
  15. Former CFL players have failed to claim $7 million in pension funds. http://www.cbc.ca/m/sports/football/...funds-1.851972 https://cflpa.com/pension-missing-members/ If you or someone you know is on this list, please contact Manulife at 1.888.747.4283 or cflpa@manulife.com as soon as possible. Here's a few former Bombers who I recognized: Amos, Willie Beasley, Jonathan Giles, Lavarus Goodlow, Eugene Quinn, Mike (former QB?) Sellers, Michael It's a huge list so I'm sure I missed some. But if anyone knows how to contact any of those former players, I'm sure they'd like a belated Christmas present. EDIT: Just realized this list is years old. Mods, feel free to delete this thread.
  16. Maybe they will goaded into building a decent CFL stadium after looking westward and seeing how they are being outdone by their poor cousins here and in Regina. You can't assume that they are aware that there's more of Canada west of Thunder Bay.
  17. Your memory is failing you Iso. Thornton was traded to the Argos in 1967. Bud Grant had taken over the Vikings and Zaleski was the Bomber head coach.
  18. He never got a legitimate chance here. I still believe he will be a CFL player. Don't know why Robertson didn't fit in to Etch's defense. He's certainly small enough.
  19. Read someplace that Wally took Washington with him when he met up with Tedford a few days ago. Seems likely that Washington will stay in BC.
  20. He was here for 3 days in July 2011 and then quit.
  21. He got short changed here working with an OC that didn't adjust for the end of the last millennium.
  22. Barron Miles has also been mentioned. I thought he was supposed to be an up and comer.
  23. Interesting site. I had no idea that there is a real Lyle E Style: http://www.manitobamusicmuseum.com/lyleestyle.htm I wonder if he knows that Nate is taking his name in vain over at riderfans. Then again he might not care. Seems to be quite a character. From the faq on his website:
  24. Which team took 104 years to win more Grey Cups than Queens University?
  25. Given how he started out life, the kid's done okay for himself. This article is from 2006: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/historic/31724144.html
