  1. At the very least it's an indication that Speigel's estate wants to sell the team.
  2. Think it's the classic "oops I don't have the money to fund operations of this team" fallout. Passion and money is fine. If I'm a Montreal player or a league executive I'm hoping the gamecheques from last week go through.
  3. The bottom line is the players resist funding the pension so they get what they get. Yeah their careers aren't long but they make in one year what other people in relatively normal careers make in 15-20 years. They wouldn't have to shave much more off to give themselves a pretty nice 6 figure pension.
  4. Yeah maybe. They are so locked into Flacco it seems. He's 6-17 in the last 5 years as a starter and not getting better at 37 going on 38. White at least has some upside in the same pocket passer type role, and has outperformed Flacco pretty drastically this preseason and last regular season.
  5. Jets doing an awful job of keeping the play in bounds on final Giants drive. I don't know why the Jets would keep Flacco. White is the better, younger version of him. Streveler is a RPO guy like their actual starter.
  6. I think Streveler will get picked up by Denver or Miami if he goes on waivers. Jets might keep him too. The two other teams have been pretty actively trying to build in QB run option packages but the guys running them in pre-season have stunk. Would fit with Bears or Falcons (who got a good look at him) too.
  7. The NFL pension isn't anything crazy either, it's like under $50,000 USD per year once someone is vested. Actually kind of a joke when you think most guys on the 53 man are hauling in 7 figures. They need to make their own investments. Streveler has already made over $1.5 million USD in the NFL. The bigger part of it is the 401k they get access to but obviously like any of us that means they are contributing their own income today into that, and they need to stay on the active roster to keep contributing.
  8. Litre is useful because he can carry the ball and block like most of the guys teams are using as fullbacks or tight ends. So you could have a tailback in with him motion out and leave Litre in and the D has to account for him. But I don't know how the hell they landed on just leaving him in at tailback every down.
  9. Yes, and the INTs plus return game adventures all act to keep a much worse team in the game. Lots to clean up this week.
  10. Fact: If Calgary would have made a clean recovery of the fumble the whistle is moot. They didn't so it's not a turnover.
  11. Edmonton's wheel of running backs stopped at a very limited role player for some reason.
  12. 17 on Edmonton fighting for 4 yards cost Edmonton 1 play on this drive.
  13. This is a classic Lapo try to hold a halftime lead through the whole second half game. Offense has done nothing for a whole half.
  14. League flags most contact on QB's but you can spear a receiver in the earhole still.
  15. That's a spear right into a helmet. How is that not flagged?
  16. Quite similar to Burnham's in Sask though. Pretty blatant No Yards missed there.
  17. Man 16 on Ottawa needs to pitch that ball. Gave up a sure TD.
  18. Elks let 2 seconds run down before they call timeout.
  19. Pretty bad hold by Edmonton's RT to facilitate the big play.
  20. Think Behar is concussed from the goal-line hit.
  21. The D tightening up wasn't 4th quarter magic though. There were some pretty substantial adjustments in the last 20 minutes of that game.
  22. I'd put him at SAM. Figure out where the rookies fit after that.
  23. Well when they finally calmed down Calgary's inside zone plays in the 4th they had Bighill at WIL and Gauthier at MLB. Noticed on rewatch too a lot of Maruo as a standup rush end, like a 3-4 OLB. Haven't found much I like in Clements. That WIL spot is really the only one that consistently in the box in this scheme and he's not making any plays. Even a guy like Maruo who plays about 1/4 of the snaps gets to the ball more often.
