  1. Not how that works. It gives them 25 snaps where he can sub for the Canadian. Otherwise he just replaces whichever import receiver who would basically be the designated import anyway.
  2. Nichols never played another down for the Bombers after he injured his shoulder. The only other significant CFL injuries he had was a broken leg and torn ACL with Edmonton, knee injury here to start 2018.
  3. Until the other team starts kicking the ball at him because he can't catch it.
  4. Streveler completed 3 passes over 10 yards in the air the entire game. Not exactly primed for a "kill shot." Coaches can criticize Streveler's accuracy...but how the **** do you not realize his limitations? They were calling plays based on that the whole night. It can be a little better for him if you win up front and open up playaction. But nothing opens up until he makes some throws. So that playcall was just an arm punt.
  5. So be it. If Ayres has some supernatural special teams abilities in their eyes, leave him on. But in terms of D absolutely no need to have both Jones', Wilson and Ayres to play about 80 snaps a game between them. Meanwhile on O we basically have no receivers dressed and a random 5'7 235 pound option tailback trying to catch kicks on special teams.
  6. Peterson for Cobb I would bet if Mitchell is going on.
  7. If they popped on Bailey, global DE, straight across for Lawson. Use him in that Cheetah front with all the ends on 2nd and long, maybe 15 snaps a game, put Woods on for the most surplus of the American LB's...keeping in mind majority of D snaps we have 1 of them on the field...maybe see 2 more this week vs Calgary over Toronto who doesn't try to run at all. Jefferson, Vaughters, Person, Bailey (counts as a Canadian effectively), Woods, Adams, Thomas, Kornelson. Solid group of 8. Bailey and Person for sure can cover kicks. Likely keeping 3 Canadian OL starting with Vanterpool out. 3 OL, 2 receivers, 1 running back, 1 Canadian/Global on the field every snap on D. So between Kramdi and Kelly you've basically satisfied that. Any reps Canadian DL or LB get is extra. And lots of coverage for that Canadian spot if something funny happens.
  8. Lapo’s main flaw is he would have played for the FG there with 10 minutes left in the game to go up 9 and then lose by 2-3 after getting outscored by 11 points the rest of the game.
  9. Go 5 Canadians on O, 2 on D. 2 OL, 2 receivers, RB. Have Corcoran/Clercius rotate one spot depending who you want at a wideout spot (get Mitchell involved), and have Peterson, Chris-Ike as cover too. Cobb could come or go depending on who they want on for special teams. If Logan is up, not much need for Cobb IMO. Should not be a problem to go 2 on D based on how they rotate on D. Kramdi plays basically every down, Lawson or Thomas out there almost every down. Then you have Kelly, Hallett, Gauthier and the rookie LB's as cover too. Kelly was playing nickel last week when they went all American DL.
  10. I think it's pretty clear they need to flip a couple American spots to O. We have guys like Shay and Smith to cover LB if we really needed. Kelly can play. Hallett is passable. The kind of D we play I'd much rather have 1 American dressed at WIL/MLB than 4. Having guys like Jones, Wilson and Ayres on to combined play under half the D snaps is mega waste when we have a phase of the team playing insanely short handed on O.
  11. How the **** is it hard to get Logan on? We have Cooley on. We have multiple American guys already who only play special teams. Just have to let Canadian depth guys getting healthy take those roles. If Ayres isn't good enough to take a turn on D, pull him off. Choose three American LB's. Don't need 4. We could easily start 3 American OL, have Mitchell and Logan on. Drop one of Wilson/Jones, and drop Ayres, Cooley obviously comes off. With the Canadians we have on D, those guys to cover kicks are a total luxury. We play majority of snaps with 1 of those 4 LB's on the field, about 1/3 of snaps with 2 of them on. We don't need 4. I'm probably one of the few people on this planet that would even think of special teams and this roster so far this season has been complete overkill. We basically don't have an offense because we're holding spots for guys to chase kicks. We can't block, we can't catch the ball.
  12. For the amount he's played, Vaval is 4th on our team in yards passing against. Worst % of targets caught...albeit playing field corner. He's like a flashing beacon for the other teams play caller/QB. I don't think he's a CFL DB. We have better options. I wouldn't even look at him as a DB. I'd rather put Kelly or Hallett out there. Would be nice if he got consistent at catching and holding the ball on returns.
  13. The box is full because teams are challenging Streveler to be accurate. So far he’s played one good half where he burned BC for doing that.
  14. You don’t want OL chasing guys across the field. They are making a pocket. The issue on that first INT is Streveler staring down his first read and then IMO (others I respect who know about football disagree) the throw he made was extremely inaccurate for the guy he was targeting (Wheatfall). IMO that ball is behind Wheatfall and short, potentially because Streveler pulls up at the end realizing he’s throwing into a pile of Argos downfield. The first read stare down is a big part of all the sacks too. You’re watching a QB that was one read then **** it check down to my legs. But the legs don’t work anymore. He isn’t a guy that can operate in the pocket at the speed of these games as a passer. The biggest problem with Streveler in there is complete inaccuracy in that intermediate 8 yard to 20 yard range. It’s basically a coin toss if it’ll be an INT every time. And you can see that weighing on him. He’s thinking and everything in the pocket is moving too slow unless he’s just throwing to a spot, which can also be dangerous for turnovers. The velocity combined with being a catchable ball isn’t there. And it’s way worse than Collaros. You can go to the well with the backfield motion, levels kind of plays where he has flat option, out/corner option and run option. But run option is all but dead. He’s not setting his feet to throw and there’s no hip rotation. He’s throwing from his right shoulder, nothing from the core and lower body. They are squeezing as much as they can out of him IMO.
  15. The hilarious part is all the roster hawks a 6 weeks ago with "put Cooley on, have him play receiver, return kicks and punts, he's such a stud." They do it...and...? Turns out tossing guys into the fire to do something they've never done at any level when they are rookie pros isn't a great move. Especially when the role involves securing the football. The "just ******* put this guy here, and this guy there" stuff is mega stupid.
  16. We're basically not dressing a full compliment of receivers right now but dressing Cooley to show the world he has no ability to catch kicks and nothing else....while we have a backup Canadian who can do that and more in street clothes on the sideline.
  17. Jarious Jackson has basically only had good seasons as a playcaller with MBT. Otherwise cheeks.
  18. Doesn't make much sense to me. If he's toxic, you'd send him out. My feeling. The OC doesn't like him and won't use him. Walters/MOS signed him. They need to challenge the O this week how the challenged the D and DC this week. No reason why Mitchell shouldn't be on for Cooley. Let him be depth on O, let him be the 2nd returner on kicks. We have nothing at receiver. Find a spark. Spend a few hours brainstorming on packages to use Mitchell and Wheatfall...play Mitchell at Z ffs.
  19. Had good position on the Wheatfall pitch...Wheatfall kept pressing the sideline instead of cutting up.
  20. Ball isn't coming out quick. Lots of statue sacks tonight. Lots of panic. Streveler had a good 2nd half vs BC. OL was dominant in that game. Playaction was working. He's doing nothing with his arm otherwise.
  21. If we get 3 return TD's every game we'll never lose again. Unfortunately we'll probably need the offense to do better than sawing off TD's with the opposing D.
  22. There's a drastic difference between Collaros and Streveler's passing ability. Even with Collaros struggling. And the O in general. You'd have to watch the games with your head jammed up your butt to not admit that. Like take the emotion out...watch the football. Streveler can barely hit a pass over 10 yards. He's arm throwing. He doesn't set his feet often. He doesn't move off the first read, ever. And now he's stuck in the pocket because he can't out run a DL. Streveler is like Dustin Crum without being able to run. And it sucks, because he's a Bombers legend. But he's busted up, and he's not a pocket passer. Unlikely he'll become one in his 30s because he doesn't appear close to admitting the physical limitations he has...and honestly one of the biggest ones is his throwing motion and appearing to struggle to get anything from his lower half into his passes.
  23. Streveler has no ability to hit anything intermediate which is where CFL offenses live. 2 completions in that zone today, 2 INT's in that zone today. If he can't run, he's completely ******.
  24. It would be remarkable if Wilson was any good based on his pre-seasons. He's got that Alex Brink die in the pocket holding the ball like a statue kind of play. NCAA he's a spread guy, not much vertical. Would be hoping he can get it out quick...based on pre-seasons, haven't seen it. Wish we kept someone like Dolegala. He's at least got that Mike Bishop every other week he's amazing kind of game.
